We started watching Midnight Mass on Netflix. Interesting enough- good creep factor in a supernatural thriller/mystery show. not terribly "thrilling", but a few in it's worth watching so far.

Watched Turning Point, the 9/11 doc.  Very well done.  Makes me realize how much I've ignored what was going on in Afghanistan the past 10 years.

Just got through episode 4.  A decent watch so far, excellent acting, story appears to be going somewhere decent.

S2 of Love on the Spectrum is out!

Australian documentary show about...well, love on the spectrum.  Young autistic folk learning about dating. We fell in love with the show and the people in it, some of whom are back (Michael still needs his own show).
It's so heart-meltingly good. It's almost more than I can take at times...

"Watching", and I use that term loosely,  Squid Game ep1. Half way thru ep1. Boring!

But I knew that so just waiting for the ####show to commence.

We just watched ep3...it's better than I was giving it credit for.

Sneaky Pete…Season 1 was pretty good, first few episodes of season 2 seem kinda boring.  Is it worth finishing this show or move on to better things?

I downloaded squid game to watch on a plane not really knowing much about it.   The 90+ year old lady in the middle seat was horrified.  Oops.
Maybe put your AirPods or headphones in next time.

Will try not to give anything away.

Very cool idea for a show - so dark. The acting was brutal though.

I guess the winner can come back next year and try to stop the entire thing - much like the cop tried to do.

Definitely different than anything I’ve ever seen.
The acting was my complaint as well. Not 001 and 456, I thought they actually both were pretty solid, especially in later episodes. A lot of the other characters were over-acting though. But, a weird thing happened a couple episodes in, where instead of it bothering me, it became charming and amusing to me. Maybe that's just me.

I appear to be the only one catching Only Murders in the Building on Hulu on the weekly regular.  It's not laugh out loud funny or anything, but it is witty and the mystery is actually kind of compelling.  Bonus points for whoever's dressing Selena Gomez.  In addition to Martin, Short, and Gomez, the supporting cast contains Amy Ryan (who covers Rod Stewart on the bassoon if that's your jam), Sting, Nathan Lane, and Tina Fey.

It is a little weird that Martin's character is both cripplingly socially awkward and a former star of a hit television series.

we have a bizarre Hulu mystery we haven't quite solved. We stopped our account, but somehow Floppinho still has it on his Ipad- the only place we have access to it. Neither of us are paying for it- so it's either come through his new school account (which seems weird), or he's a NKorean hacker (which for some reason seems less weird)

as such, we've watched a few of those and enjoy it... but hard to gain access.

We talked about it upthread. Doesn’t seem like many care for it. I love it.

Enjoyed squid game but didn’t like the last 30 minutes. Why didn’t he just ask the ______ who I will not name something like “hey playing tug of war and marbles is fun, but why’d you have to kill 500 people to do it? Couldn’t we just have played tug of war without the insane murder?”

I kept waiting for him to ask why all the murder and he never did.

binging a lot of K-Dramas in general lately

Hospital + Playlist (2 seasons) - recommend if you think Grey’s is a good show

Vincenzo - 20 episodes....did you like The Sopranos? Goodfellas? Godfather I & Is? Good, you should..This is about a Korean Italian consigliere of the Mafia visiting his birth country. It probably seemed like a good idea.

Only Murders in the Building is a really well done show.  Not spectacular in any one way, but above average across the board.  It's one of the very, very few shows my wife and I agree on.

Martin Short seems to steal a lot of scenes, bit not is his typical over-the-top, comedic brute force way.  Much more subtle.  Also, the show has worked in the podcasting angle very well.  In some ways that moved along the plot and at other times as a solid comedic device.

Read a few times that Squid Game is lining up to be the most initial watched show in Netflix history. That seems bizarre to me.
Isn't that kind of like pre-pandemic box office records being broken by the newest blockbuster?  More and more subscribers equaling new streaming records?  Could be off on that though.

finally caught the latest episode. No wonder nobody is talking (out loud) about it.

I've seen you use this name for your son  before and my curiosity has got the better of me. I don't understand the name. I read it as flopping ho. That can't be right, can it?

That over-acting style is common in Korean show biz. The exaggerated emoting is used by music celebrities as well. It's just not something westerners are typically used to. I'm only on ep 4 and enjoying it. Although I'm not sure why there's so much hype around it. Same with Parasite.

Have you watched Itaewon Class? I highly recommend it. If you like the first few eps, there's a youtube video that explains the significance of the social interactions among the characters.

but it a weird, super gory, foreign language show.
I don't get it either. I consume more Korean content than any other language including English, and the fascination for this show is puzzling.

*flourishes supporter scarf*

It’s an homage to his love of soccer. Jorginho, Ronaldhino(sp?), etc. There’s about a brazillion soccer dudes with that appellation on their names.

Just finished up the final season of Goliath on Amazon Prime.

Really liked it, though I'll admit I'm a pretty big Billy Bob fan.

Just the right mix of human drama and courtroom proceedings.

Very noir style

Fell into a rathole on this.  The internet is convinced the protagonist is actually a sick #### and will come back to be the main leader, and that he was actually that guy's son.

There were a lot of strange plot holes in squid game too that the internet has shockingly good answers for.  Pretty sure I found out where all the hardcore GOT people ran off to.

You get basic Hulu with Spotify. Log in to your other devices with your Spotify credentials
It seems this is only available with the Spotify Student Premium plan.

Premium with Hulu or SHOWTIME isn’t available for those who aren’t students.

We used to offer Premium with Hulu for non-students, but not anymore. If you already have it but cancel or upgrade to a different plan (e.g. Duo or Family), you'll lose access to Hulu.

Wife and I are 3 episodes into Succession.  I was reluctant to watch YET ANOTHER series featuring no characters that have any redeeming value.

I was wrong.  Good gravy, this is a good show.

Yeah, this is really good.   And it has Cameron Frye as a key character.

Watched first episode of Legion, based on some recommendations in here.  My brain is melted.
Oh wow...I watched the first season as it happened and just loved it. Somehow never watched any more...have to try to dig back in.

Just started The Last Man, on Hulu. Apocalypse where everyone with a Y chromosome seems to die. Don't have an opinion yet but want to see where it's going so I'll keep watching for now.

I really liked it but stopped watching it I think in season 2 because it got really weird. Just an odd show where you get sucked in (season 1 was really good) and also don’t really care about it (after season 1) I may go back and rewatch the first season and see if I can get through it. I definitely don’t remember all the details.

Lol. I didn’t even read your post and said the same thing. First season was great but I just didn’t have the urge to continue watching and I can’t say that season two was bad. Maybe it just didn’t hook me as you were almost mentally exhausted.
