I have AMC+, what’s good on Shudder?
Rotten Tomatoes is a good place to find the winners. Unfortunately there is no way to view my history, what I have already seen is removed from view, and I smoke a lot of pot. I'll try and go in later without logging in and find you a list

I think that's a pretty good deal, since I want to see what Ray Donovan is up to later this year.

But really Showtime is one of the worst overall premiums.
My Showtime list for when I get it for a month is the shortest of any service, only 4 movies:

1917, Ex Machina, Nightcrawler, Hurt Locker

The last 3 are movies that have been on other services and got put in my queue, but I never got around to them… so not a priority apparently. I might not even bother.

I've seen and liked them all, but not as much as the critics.

Is there a way to show me the top RT scores currently available on AMC+?

movierankings.net has some good filtering for that kind of stuff.

I absolutely love it.  I'm with you in that it's not the "greatest" or anything, but it hooked me right away and even caused my old ### to follow the reddit sub and listen to a weekly podcast.  At first I worried whether the writers had any any where it was going and then decided to just enjoy the ride.  I think the acting (both teens and adults) has been stellar and it does a great job of nailing teen girl dynamics (or at least so I've been told).  Not to mention the soundtrack...

I think Mrs. Scorchy was dead on when she said it's like crack for a certain segment of Gen X alterna-chicks (and the men who grew up loving them).
Spot on. Personally, while clearly not the same story line, I find similarities to Stranger Things, but better to me.

currently plowing through HBO's "The Deuce" (S3/E3) - it takes place in my heyday, even though I'm a Midwest guy.

It takes place in NY Times Square and is focused mostly on the porn scene of the time.  No nudity below the waist (frontal) but there are plenty of scenes would qualify for the Shannon Tweed level hotel PPV.

the story is pretty good as we follow a number of characters - but mainly James Franco, who plays a duel role of twins that intermix with the mob to run bars and girls.  The other is Maggie Gyllenhaal, who plays Candy, the spunky, independent streetwalker who ends up as a leading porn director.

I like it ...don't love it.  Solid B though.

It's the team from the Wire, so has some quality writing and story telling there. I liked it.

The Station Eleven finale was as good as anything I've seen in a long time.

Really enjoyed the entire series - thought it was excellent. I also read that there is unlikely to be a second season - that it is a mini-series. I think that's perfect. There's no need for more. It was great how it was.

I was wondering about any continuation into a S2 or beyond... didn't feel like it needs it, given the way the story was told and how it resolved.

But they did spend a lot of time world-building here, and getting viewers invested in the characters... so I wouldn't begrudge them going further with it.

I need to make a note of that one for next time I get a free trial or splurge for a month on HBO

50 Best Movies on Shudder 1/22

By Paste. I cannot vouch for Paste, but its a pretty comprehensive list
I read the Paste list of top 50 zombie movies about a month ago and have been watching as many as I liked the description of and could find on streaming services - I prefer a list like that with writeups over a cold RT percent list that tells me to watch a bunch of movies from the 50s.

I mean, I’ve only read about this show, but it seems to have been made especially for you. Bespoke television.

I'm surprised Yellowjackets (on Showtime) hasn't gotten more talk here. Season finale yesterday and just finished the season. Not the greatest show out there but overall a good watch. If looking for something to watch, give it a gander. Also, not sure if it was a personalized promo or still available, but was able to get Showtime through Amazon for $0.99/month for the next 12 months.
I think this is on Netflix up here. Will check it out if so.

Enjoying the Mayor of Kingstown very much.  Renner's always good and the story is pretty unique and interesting.  Plus the cinematography and production values are really good.

It's several years old, but anyone who has never seen The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst should begin watching that series tonight (HBO).  Durst died in the last several days, so don't read the news.  Just watch the series.  One of the best docs I've ever seen.

Can’t believe I’m saying this based off my expectations going in (made by the Yellowstone creator, which is stupid as hell) but I feel like 1883 is the best new show in like a year or two? It’s super good.

Sorry if I missed it but has anyone seen the 4 part docuseries on Netflix: Monsters Inside: The 24 Faces of Billy Milligen? If so, I'd like to hear your thoughts. I thought it was a rollercoaster story and completely changed my mind from 2 episodes in until the finish.

If it's not grabbing you yet, not sure it'll grab you. I haven't caught the finale, but my favorite episodes are in the middle...but the overall vibe doesn't really change, if that's whats bugging you. Did you like The Leftovers?
Yeah, it doesn’t really change. I haven’t caught the last episode either (on vacation), but I liked The Leftovers and like Station Eleven as well. I like zombies movies as well, but just dig the vibe and characters so far. It’s definitely different.

Wife and I have been enjoying Ordinary Joe on NBC.

3 different story lines based on a decision he makes at college graduation. We've all had that "what if I had done this, instead of that" thought process.

Wife was constantly getting lost on which storyline is which. Last night she said "man, bad camera work, everything is kind of blue".

That was when I explained that the Cop storyline has a blue tint, aka the boys in blue.  The nurse storyline has a green tint, aka nurse scrubs. And the Rocker storyline has a red tint, aka I guess all rockers are going to hell..

At which point she "got it".

Finished Season 2 of The Witcher

I assume in Season 3, we learn that Ciri's grandmother did something to banish her father from the kingdom (maybe even killing her own daughter in the process).  (Or is the father just an evil genius?). Don't know anything about the series, but looking forward to finding out.

Two episodes in and I know I'm going to finish the season.  Great soundtrack mixing with the thriller/crazy story.  Good stuff.

Wrapped Yellowjackets last night, it was good, like most shows anymore I didn’t give it 100% attention while watching I there were a few times I had to ask the wife what just happened

I finally saw Blade Runner 2049 (HBO) and thought it was one of the best movies I can remember.  Like, I watched No Country for Old Men immediately before it and thought BR was every bit as good.

One Cut of the Dead (AMC+) is a Japanese zombie comedy. It’s bizarre - the first 30 minutes is a bad one-cut movie about a zombie outbreak during the  filming of a zombie movie, then the next hour is the backstory about why it was so bad, then during the credits they show the actual filming, which wasn’t the  backstory.  So a fictional movie about making a movie within a movie. No real zombies. I wouldn’t really recommend it but kind of enjoyed it.

3 episodes into Midnight Mass and while it's good so far and I'm interested in where this goes, there are so many scenes that just go on forever. I find myself thinking "OK, we get it. Move on!" constantly. Really takes me out of the show and almost put me to sleep a couple of times.

its a definite slow burn but IIRC this is where it starts to pick up

Also count us in for being late to the game on Ozark. We just started it and are on season two. My wife has never quite got the concept of binge watching shows. She will watch one or two episodes and then say that's enough for tonight. Ozark, she can't get enough of--we watched three and half episodes last night and probably would have watched more if we didn't have to go pick up our daughter from work. Really great show!!
Just got done binging the entire series up to the new episode.

Soo good.  Better than Breaking Bad.  #Wikipissa shots fired.

Finished up Mayor of Kingstown.  I haven't enjoyed a show this much in a bit.  Starts a bit wonky but hits its stride around episode 4 or so and finishes with a flourish.  A bit over the top perhaps but I enjoyed it very much.

I’ll be honest, that one reveal was a bit of a downer for me. Interesting to still be alive but his character was a complete 180 from his intro. The queen was all about protecting her family and after the guy turned back to a normal guy, it seems like a huge stretch for the queen to banish him such that he becomes this. I’m sure we’ll get backstory and I’ll enjoy the show, but it was a surprise and a groan at the same time.

What I've liked about the show so far is that the prototypical protagonist usually has reasons for their actions, blurring the good/bad distinction. Even though they're presented as the enemy, I think the father won't be a Hitler black/white bad guy and probably will explain the banishment...at a guess the queen has been shown to have her own issues as well. Looking forward to it.

A lot of monologues. That doesnt end but this is when it starts get really good.

anybody watching Somebody Somewhere on HBO?

there are 2 eps so far.... and it's a bittersweet comedy, I guess sim to Afterlife. the wife finds it too depressing- I'm really liking it for the characters and humor so far, although 2 eps in and I'm starting to get a little tired of the lead's depression/self-sabotage as written (which isn't played for humor). her choir practice/work buddy is amazing.

Joe Schmo is the greatest show ever made imo

It's worth the rental for season 1
what is going on?!!!

it's flat out amazing- they get every reality show trope in, and the improv team is incredible staying in character. love that show. also love the Truman Show...so maybe I just like that kind of thing.
