Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (14 Viewers)

@shuke Did you get any farther into this one?

It seems like something right up my alley, but was waiting for any more input before starting.

Only seen two episodes.  I love everything about it.  Creepy setting, slow quiet pace, psychological horror, found footage.

I heard it was great and had a huge man crush on Timothy Olyphant. Watched a few episodes and wasnt my cup of tea so I stopped.
I'm a big fan of his too and did watch the first episode when it first aired. There were just so many shows on at the time that I didn't stick with it.

So is Justified a must see? It's one I never watched. Does it fall off or good all the way through?
It is one of my favorite TV shows ever.

I don't recall it falling off, it may had some lulls but there was no dropoff I recall.   It ended at 6 seasons on purpose. (well and the creator died during season 5 i think)

Only knock I have are the actors.  Neither Dan or Melody are the best actors.  Story is great so far and hoping the ending doesn't ruin it.  Is it multiple seasons or just one miniseries?

I'm one episode into Archive 81. Pretty cool premise. I'm worried it could get dumb as they show more and explain more, and I'm not a huge sci-fi/monster guy (not that it's necessarily headed that way), but I'm definitely very intrigued to continue.

It is very creepy. And I imagine it's going to build and build and build. I'm very hopeful.

Archive 81 is awesome. Keep it going

I enjoyed Justified quite a bit. If you stick it out, they'll be some standout characters that you occasionally see meme's from.
one of my all-time favorite shows. it takes a few episodes to find its footing then just gets better and better through the finish. i was sad to see it end.

fwiw, US Marshal Raylon Givens is a Elmore Leonard creation and the series is based on that character with a story line developed by Graham Yost. So if you like Leonard's gritty colloquialism, crime stories, and humor, like me, this show is a winner. On a side note Givens was supposed to kill Boyd Crowder early in season 1, but they let Crowder survive the gunshot because the dynamic between Olyphant and Walton Goggins was the best thng the show had going. I think it's both actors best work. I've watched the series twice start to finish, and when particularly bored click on a random episode every now and then.

Oh, that’s why the name Archive 81 kept tickling my brain - I listened to the podcast. Huh - I might have to listen again before watching the show.

I'm 3 episodes into Station Eleven and it's odd to say the least.  I seem to recall lots of folks in here liking it so I'll keep plugging away at it and hopefully it gets better soon.

you're not alone in hoping that after a few episodes... kind of leitmotif in here.

I liked it quite a bit- not gaga over it- but appreciated a lot of what it did.

and we've had this exact conversation before with others in here- if you aren't digging it by now, I don't think anything substantially changes that will make you change your mind.

Yep Justified is easily in my top 10.  Once it was clear Goggins was in it to stay (late season 1 if I recall) the show took off.  And now....a follow up series based in Detroit is on the way.  More Olyphant!

Boyd Crowder is one of the great TV characters of the last 15 years. any scene with him and Raylan was must see TV. the definition of "frenemies".

Justified is really good, but it did take quite a few episodes to hit is stride.  I recall a lot of the early season 1 episodes were kind of one-off style and then it becomes more serialized

Murderville is a better concept than it is a show.   Some funny stuff, but even at only 6 episodes nothing I am rushing to get back to after 2 episodes

Agree. It has some moments. I finished it up, but it did turn into some background noise during the day. The guests that play the part are better. As in Marshawn

Reacher is out on amazon prime, man this is a fun show :wall:  i’m already starting the third episode, damn it my self control sucks

I've had this marked on my calendar for months. Huge fan. Lee Child is my favorite author because of Reacher, I've read all of the books (in order) and I am very disappointed he handed the Reacher reigns to his brother to take over.

It's getting good reviews.

I may binge the entire season today/tonite/tomorrow.

RIP Tom Cruise.

Hoping this will be my guilty pleasure this weekend - pretty free this evening and most of tomorrow (until I get the Honeydo list), so hoping to catch a few episodes

I couldn't get into it, I love the post-apocalypse stuff too. The traveling theater group was just too odd.

I liked it a lot as well. It doesn’t change but it’s not run of the mill, which is why I enjoyed it. Sometimes a non-cookie cutter show is enjoyable, especially if it’s not pure bleak like Black Mirror got where I had to stop watching for a bit. I thought the characters were all very strong and I loved the ending. Really well done how some things tied all back together and you felt good about it.

I recall most of season 1 being scattered and inconsistent.  But get through season 1 and you got some good tv ahead of you.  Until you get to the last season.

great run sandwiched by 2 mediocre seasons

In from the Cold - Netflix -  watched first episode, feel like it could be better in the spy/action genre, with a female Jason Bourne (or Black Widow) as the lead..  I'll keep watching though.

5 episodes in. It's OK, not great. She has interesting capabilities. Not sure we need so many flashbacks. Still watching though.

7 yards-Chris Norton Story is a pretty good documentary on Netflix. Guy had some pretty good friends to support him.

Also watch documentary Last Breathe was pretty good

Pam and Tommy on Hulu.

Only 2 episodes in. You can fast forward through most of the club partying but not Tommy Lee's talking penis. Even my wife said, "what's this ##### problem? What more do you want? It's Pamela Anderson!"

The guy playing Tommy doesn't look that much like the him facially but the woman playing Pam is almost perfect.

Binged this on the weekend and totally enjoyed it. Solid story and all the actors had great chemistry.  Hoping for more seasons. Even though you knew sometimes what line was coming it didn't matter. That man is a beast!

started watching the ep with Conan.. pulled the plug partway through. as you say-  the actual improv and show wasn't as zany as the concept.

Started Reacher on Amazon last night, only the first two episodes. Really enjoyed it, as did the wife.

As someone who has read and loved the books I have to ask...  is this season all from the first book 'Killing Floor'?  I get the thought behind that, but that leaves the option for like 20+ seasons...  right?  I mean they could obviously skip some books and/or pick and choose the timeline, but I don't know that I expected 8 episodes per book.

Can you expand on this? I plan on watching All of Us Are Dead but not Euphoria.
A lot of it is sexuality. A bunch of Euphoria episodes seem to center around big parties or other venues that lend themselves to provocative behavior. No one bats an eye at bathroom sex or open drug use. I'm not saying that this is a realistic portrayal.

All of Us Are Dead is definitely not a show exploring teen sexuality but the cultural differences are on display nonetheless. The girls do wear short skirts but almost invariably with gym shorts or even sweats on underneath. And if a couple so much as holds hands, others in the group stare wide-eyed at the open display of affection.

I don't want to make very much of all this, it was just really interesting to me while watching both shows.
