Manti only and probably the biggest problem was not admitting from the beginning they only met online and never in person. I get that he was embarrassed by it and is understandable but that "lie" turned everyone into thinking he was in on it

I agree. I thought it was a good doc.

I remember at the time wondering how anyone could be so naive. But now, learning that he came from a fairly strict Mormon family, it makes a little more sense. Some of those families are very insular.
Plus it was 09-11? Catfishing wasn't a "well known phenomenon"

You guys sensing a pattern here?

Very new KDrama (debuted June 29) which has been setting ratings records in ROK.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

We’re up to 6 episodes, it’s brilliant. The lead character is a rookie attorney with autism (IQ 164), encyclopedic knowledge of whales, started memorizing law textbooks as a child.

Feel good comedy with occasional moral dilemma.
This is a great show, you just can’t help but root for Attorney Woo. Hard to believe she is the same actress who starred in The King’s Affection. I didn’t recognize her at first.
Loving this show. Great premise and the acting is quite good. And somehow every actress in Korea is a complete smoke show.

Definitely one of my favorite shows of the year. Park Eun Bin was amazing.

Not confirmed yet but looks like a second season is in the works. Most K Dramas are one and done, but Attorney Woo became a global phenomenon.

Just watched the trailer and not sure what is going on. Recap?
Kind of hard to explain. If you are familiar with Nathan Fielder you’ll get how strange it is. I think you’ll like it.

The Rehearsal is amazing, just watched episode 6 last night, I think that’s the finale?

find it hard to believe it got renewed. It was really bad.

The reviews were overwhelmingly positive. Certainly not a show for everyone. I can see how people could find it silly and cringeworthy.
Agreed.

I honestly thought at one point there was something going to go on further with he and Remy's Mom because he felt so guilty for what he did to Remy.

So all the reviews I have read and on Twitter - everyone assumes that the Remy stuff was real. I do too. But … are we sure?

I kind of feel like everyone in this show is an actor, and that at the end we'll find out that we're the subject of the rehearsal.
Probably the closest to the truth TBH.

Yep

Woodstock 99 doc was well done. For some reason I barely remember this happening. Was it washed over in the news?
I remember hearing that it was a disaster at the time because they weren't prepared for that large of a crowd, food/drink prices were way too high, etc. But, I don't remember hearing about the rioting and sexual assaults happening.

I saw the HBO Max Music Box version of the story and now there's this one on Netflix. So, two docs on an under reported story in about a year.

Real question or shtick? It was massive news at the time... I missed everything that happened when my kids were born, did you have a yungun then?

No kids yet at that time. I don't think I watched a lot of TV or news in general for a period in the late 90's.

First stretch in the joint?

Black Bird - Streaming on Apple TV

Based on a true story - guy sent to minimum security prison for 10 years, offered freedom if he's willing to go into the max security prison filled with the craziest of the crazy criminally insane to get a confession from a serial killer before he wins an appeal and is set free.
Really good story. Only six episodes. Good rainy day binge.
Big fan of Paul Walter Houser. Although the voice he uses in this piece is a little much.

For those that have already seen this, I wish they had spent more time with the detectives investigating the case rather than long scenes with the prisoners. Just seemed like there were a lot of details they could have spent more time on.

Overall - I recommend.

In watching the Woodstock '99 , what I noticed is that Ananda Lewis was twenty-six years old during the festival, and now she is less than a year from turning fifty, and she barely looks different.
Speaking of which, I just watched her on The Mole Season 4 (celebrity edition 2), which is currently on Netflix. She was 30 at the time. Can't say I'm surprised she hasn't changed.

anyone watching Sandman on Netflix?

It takes a little bit to get interesting but really picks up around ep. 5.
Yea just started, think I'm starting ep 3. Meh so far but it seems like comments here indicate it gets better.

From the late to the party club:
Started Peaky Blinders a few weeks ago, about halfway through season 4. Big fan
Started Outlander before Peaky Blinders, made it through season 1, liked it but stopped there for now to watch other stuff
Will be starting HotD soon

I just realized we have HBO-Max.

Other than the Dragon show, what else should I be watching here? I prefer sci-fi/fantasy/action/stuff blowing up, not so much "dramas".

Thx in advance.....

I need to get around to watching that. I was there (won ticket, bus ride, and tent from Q102) so was able to afford the food/water cost. Apparently they show several seconds of one of the lifelong friends I went with.

The Outsider is based on a Stephen King novel so fits the fantasy stuff a bit, and I thought was worth watching.

NOT ENOUGH SPACESHIP BATTLES!

Finished The Terminal List. Quite "hard to believe" in many parts, but still a fun ride.

Plot twist at the end was kind of a "no duh".

Wondering where things go for S2. I know it's a book adaptation but I don't read. :oldunsure:
Thanks for this synopsis. I do read and was wondering if it was one season per book or what as I just started the second book. Your comments made it pretty clear that it is one season per book.

Extraordinary Attorney Woos remarkable run, which Deadline has chronicled for the last couple of weeks, continues. The latest Netflix hit from Korea has growing its viewership every week, from 24 million hours viewed in Week 1 to a new high mark of 77.43M hours viewed in its seventh week (8/15-8/21). It is a rare Netflix series that has increased its viewing in each of the first seven weeks.

The series also has become a rare non-English series to be an outright No. 1 for the week, eclipsing The Sandman, which dropped in Week 3 to 77.24M but still topped the weekly English-language chart.

The Korean drama has now held the No. 1 spot in Netflix’s Weekly Top 10 for non-English series for six of its seven weeks to date, only briefly slipping to No. 2 in Week 3. Interestingly, since the all-time charts are supposed to be based on hours viewed in the first 28 days of release, Extraordinary Attorney Wookeeps climbing there too. It made a debut at No. 8 on Netflix’s list of all-time most popular non-English series last week with 289M hours viewed in its first 28 days. It has now moved to No. 6 with 341.5M hours.

Don’t think I’ve heard of station 11 will have to check that out

Players - Paramount+. A mockumentary series about a fake League of Legends e-sports team. I’m about 6 episodes in and am pleasantly surprised. I overhear enough from my kids to know that the LOL parts are on the money (gasps when someone picks Heimerdinger in a pro match), but the acting is solid (the guy who plays Creamcheese especially).

I don’t know whether everyone would like this, but I’m enjoying it.

HBO dropped a teaser for the last of us tv show

I'm excited for this because the director of Chernobyl is involved / feels like it will be a live adaptation of the VG - which I'm fine with - there are folks out there who haven't experienced the game - the game is unlike any video game I've ever played story wise - just gut wrenching and well done

Welcome To Wrexham on FX/Hulu. Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds purchase a VERY low level GB football club. Similar to Sunderland on Netflix, but with celebs. The football passion in GB is just unbeatable if you are into sports (and my wife could care less about soccer but loved Sunderland and ALREADY loves this show....the eye candy for the ladies doesn't hurt), and Mac can't help but be funny.

Finished paper girls on prime.

Fun show. Similar vibe to Stranger Things.

Some of the elements of the show might not be appropriate for kids under 12.

I know I mentioned it already, but if you haven't seen The Raid: Redemption, watch that movie! It seemed to me that it's the base for all the modern gun-fu John Wick style action.

Veep is the most vile, repulsive, hilarious show I've ever watched. Hate myself for every belly-laugh, chortle, and chuckle throughout the whole danged series. Highest recommendation.
