Anybody watching season 2 of Tulsa King? Better/Worse/Same as S1?
Season 1 was ok enough, but I can't seem to get inspired to watch S2.

no idea what I was on about in thereIt is rich people doing stuff but the show never goes anywhere. You keep expecting something to happen or progress but it never does. Well acted - sure but it just never seems to go anywhere.

All the follow up responses to my post were spot on. Just finished episode 4, which is the Sophia backstory episode. Wow . This show has picked up considerably and sucked me in. Loved this asylum episode. A lot. I felt the tone of the asylum is what Joker 2 should have went for. Kudos to the writers in that.

I dont really agree. The premise of the show is that there is a death, which is established in the first scene of each season. You dont know who it is or the circumstances around it, as that's part of the mystery. Each season focuses on resolving that death, and so far they have resolved each one fairly well. There are also many character arcs that get resolved.
I can understand if watching rich, entitled, unlikable people isn't your thing, but I disagree with the thought that the show "doesn't go anywhere".
I guess I disagree that stuff was "resolved". Sure you found out how the murders happened but things just meandered around until it ended. "Not going anywhere" isn't really a great description of what I am trying to say and I am not sure how to describe my take. All the individual things are good (acting, filming, look, writing, etc) but it just doesn't land for me. Something is missing.

Maybe White Lotus isn't for me considering I thought Succession was overrated and I didn't care for any of the characters outside of Brian Cox.

White Lotus is basically a fun Scooby Doo mystery for adults. 1st season was just fun. 2nd was decent. 1st episode of season 3 was meh, but it outlined the characters. Kinda of a whodunit type journey, think the game Clue. Be observant. I don't think it's anything more then what it's trying to be.
I don't see White Lotus as anything like Scooby Doo. I would have Scooby-Doo as much better and the only thing they are alike in is that there is a "mystery".
It's in the same category of shows for me that I appreciate but don't particularly enjoy if that makes sense.

I think this nails it. White Lotus is fine. I don’t think they take themselves seriously and think they’re providing some deep social commentary or anything. I think when shows are self-aware that way it helps. Kind of like the years when Days of Our Lives said “F it, hear us out. Devil possession and jungle MADNESS!!!”
It makes perfect sense to me. There is something about it that I cannot describe properly that just makes me perturbed at the end because I didn't feel like it went anywhere which makes it feel kind of like a waste of time.

For the few of us who've been discussing the Traitors...I'm through seven episodes of UK Season 3, and if Australia 2 didn't exist, I'd say that this was the worst season I've watched. What's with all the crying and overly emotional people? What's with half the cast being boring 30-year-old white guys that I still can't tell apart? There's a guy named Joe that seemingly showed up partway through, and a guy who always wears a beanie and I'm not sure has vocal cords. Did we really need a Dan and a Jake and a Joe and an Alexander and a guy with hat and a tall guy with more hair and all the rest?

For those of a certain age, there were a couple years where that show was must watch stoner television.
I agree. It's a decent way to spend 50 minutes. Not the best show out there, but it has its moments.

It is the worst UK season and casting did a poor job.
But your takeaway is LINDA is nasty? The retired opera singer whose “acting” is hilariously awful? She was one of the most entertaining parts of the season.

I assume that 'nasty' meant her real world personality shining through the 'play nice for 10 days' facade. Nasty as in naturally mean, not Janet Jackson style nasty. If so, she came across that way to me as well.

I didn't find that incident gross at all. And it tied in well with what happened at the end of the episode.
The people that should never have been cast: Joe, LeAnne, Tyler, Livi, Anna and Frankie. None of them were mentally fit to play the game and many of them just became too cringe to watch after a while. And then Alex (not Alexander) was boring, and so was Lisa minus a handful of scenes. That's 1/3 of the cast that is actively making the broadcast worse, and it's a problem.

We watched the first two seasons and I kind of agree with both sides - it is a SLOW burn and some scenes that don’t seem to move the story forward but it’s also well acted and the mystery is good enough where we enjoyed it and will keep watching.
Having said that, Parker Possey’s over the top comical accent in the first 15 minutes almost made me turn the TV off. It was like she was in a SNL skit.

Agree and it’s so much fun right now. Not to jinx it but my only fear for the show is what happened with Lost. I’m getting the same vibes and there’s an excitement among fans that doesn’t happen often. I just hope they manage to land the plane better than Lost did.

Thoughts on Traitors US S3 E9:
I really wanted Carolyn to win but she did herself in. She played the mission horribly and she failed to make a better case why Danielle should be banished instead of her.
That mission is a trap for the traitors and Carolyn stepped right in it. You can't try to steer the discussion toward the right answer if the group has pretty much decided on a wrong answer. The same thing happened in a foreign season that had this mission.
Said foreign season also had the seer twist and it sucked. Hopefully its effect will be benign here.
LOL at Tom and Dolores for voting for each other when everyone knew it was coming down to Carolyn or Danielle.
Despite Danielle winning the battle against Carolyn and being shown to have outplayed and out-talked her this episode, it is still hard for me to see her winning, though easier than it was before tonight. It would be a weird way to edit a winner. There is still a lot of suspicion on her, as evidenced by the "was that traitor-on-traitor violence?" discussion after the roundtable. No one with a clue should want to end the game with her, but a lot of the people left don't have a clue. And if Danielle-Britney-Dolores get to final 5 with a majority, it's over for whoever else is left (unless Dolores wins the seer challenge and learns that Danielle or Britney is a traitor, which is unlikely because she'd probably want to know the status of Tom if he's not murdered).
I'd say the following outcomes are most likely, in this order:
Britney solo win (likely with Dolores as the dumb faithful who loses at final 2)
Dylan/Gabby faithful win
Britney/Danielle dual traitor win
Danielle solo win
Faithful win with any combo other than Dylan/Gabby. I think Ivar is getting murdered tonight, no one will take Tom to the end, and Dolores has too closely hitched her wagon to Danielle and Britney.

Bunch of low level celebs from other reality shows - that I have not seen. Yawn - pre-existing friends or enemies. Not a fan of the recycled celeb shows. I'll have a hard time keeping track of who is who (names) and why they do/don't like another player outside of this game.
Initial twist is to eliminate a foe from another show AND bring in Survivor's winner Boston Rob (has been on 3 different reality shows) as a replacement. No one makes the swap due to his reputation.
Minutes used to spotlight various sexual preferences - useless info for the game at hand. At least I hope no one gets sent home over it.
Same as recent UK change - USA will NOT reveal their status at the end game. Crazy-eyes Carolyn (Survivor) will be interesting as a Traitor - they already notice she's 'twitchy' and has erratic body movements all the time normally. Can't wait to see her pacing around talking loudly to herself later on. Survivor Traitor, Big Brother Traitor and Drag Queen Traitor.
I delayed watching USA as it's the same location and tasks as UK.
Mission: Ring of Fire - gather fuel for the fire by rowing a viking boat to pit stops - sacrifice 2 players at each stop that will not be safe (and pissed off). The men play scared. Left $ at a stop as well. All that finish are safe, get to go home faster, and ate dinner long before the others got home. Drama ensues.
Twist: Boston Rob will enter the game the next day - as a Traitor (and the other Traitors don't know). +2 others not shown in 3 cages.

Murder = 6 options and 4 possible are Housewives. Who to set-up when making the choice? Housewife NY Dorinda is a goner.
Every time they show the Dubai Housewife in ep 1+2, she seems lost on what is being said by others. She jumped in her chair when the host tossed the picture of the murdered on the ground - LOL. Was funny that the Bachelor next to her wants to be by her side as she never stops talking so he can't screw up since he doesn't get to speak. She might make things interesting as an oblivious participant as she's yapping and not observing/listening. Or is she...?

Mission: 3 cages. Save them by finding tokens in a time limit. Each has a shield to give away. They don't know the Housewives and the Housewives have no clue who they are.
Vanderpump Tom names his 2 most faithful - both are Traitors. And his 3 suspects are all Faithful. D'oh
Roundtable - Bachelor Wells gets first shots at him. Vanderpump Tom says what he saw as the first to remove their masks earlier. Royal Family Ivar (only non-reality player) had a tiff with the murdered Housewife, set-up working. Housewife Robyn on Housewife murder proposed to throw off the scent. In a 3-way close one, Faithful Bachelor Wells sent packing.
Murder = 3 shields given out/safe. Boston Rob reveals himself to the surprised Traitors.

At breakfast, Big Brother Traitor is talking too much, but thinks they are an Oscar winning actress. If there's a dozen people at the table, one shouldn't be talking a 3rd of the time. Housewife Dubai Ayan is Du-byebye, 2 of 4 housewives eliminated.
Survivor Traitor is starting to unravel (more than normal). Younger brother Efron gets some airtime and correctly identifies Drag Queen Traitor, but Traitor Boston Rob is in the group.
Mission: Fun House, 4 doors with 1 correct choice. 5 rows of doors to get thru. Win as a team to get thru by announcing which path each duo is taking. First duo thru is shielded. Same thing as before, some people are too scared to play (Survivor Tony called out) - will the same volunteers have to step up again and give up safety? 4 doors in the first row.. and they got 4 wrong - do the math. Down to the last duo with 2 rows remaining. Final row 25% chance - fail. On the ride back, Survivor Jeremy correctly suggests Big Brother Traitor due to her 'crying.' Drag Queen Traitor immediately lets her know - whoa, a supportive traitor. Rare these days in a traitor eat traitor world.
Efron Brother Dylan eyes Drag Queen Traitor to another group and Survivor Jeremy immediately narcs Efron out. DQ Traitor is livid and finds another group that also heard his name from the same person. Fuel for the roundtable. Seems like 2 of 4 traitors are getting closed in on, one starting a mental breakdown, and Boston Rob just chillin in the background watching it all unfold.
Roundtable - Drag Queen Traitor Bob under fire to start, deflection mode. Next up is Survivor Tony from multiple angles. Info from other shows gets brought in. Boston Rob even defends Bob and ricochets back onto Tony. Landslide vote against the Survivor fam. Faithful Tony says a teary goodbye and calls out fellow Survivor Boston Rob as a sellout.
Murder - none. The 4 traitors must choose 3 faithfuls in plain sight - write their name on a scroll in a common area room. Those will be put in coffins and 1 nailed shut as the chosen murder. A traitor may put themselves in a coffin. Deviated from the UK version's cardgame/painting of death. 3 were able to scurry away. Survivor Jeremy gets multiple votes. Maybe Royal Ivar. 4th traitor Carolyn is pacing from room to room - not suspicious at all... and did they get caught coming out of the side room by Bachelorette Gabby as the episode closes out?

Completed the series. Enjoyed it even though it was apparent early on who most of the guilty parties were. Liked how it presented the kind of national threats that we could conceive of currently.

I'm 4 episodes into season 2 of American Rust. It holds interest but I can't yet tell if the plot is going to proceed believably or if it's going to veer off into crazyland. Right now it looks like everyone is either a killer or a drunk or a put-upon man or woman. But Maura Tierney is in it along with her famous upper lip so I'll see it through I guess.
