I'm almost to the point of saying Mobland has already jumped the shark.
I was coming here to say that it's getting better. Who's the mole? Who's the other brother? When will Harry really deal with Eddie? When will Kevin snap? Lots of tension building up.

Yes, some of the things that happen are far-fetched, but it's still entertaining.
Were they implying that Eddie is actually Conrad's son, with Kevin's wife, not his grandson?

I believe so

Yeah I guess maybe you're right. Maybe the good parts are getting better while some of the far-fetched stuff is getting worse. lol.

Duster on HBO Max, it has peaked my interest after the first episode.

brief synopsis:

The current trend in prestige TV is to be topical—to weigh in on contemporary issues, peel back untold history, or metaphorically reflect on the woes of modern life. Max’s new crime thriller Duster has a bit of that in its DNA: It’s interested in exploring what it was like to work for the FBI in the 1970s if you weren’t a white man. But that’s not the primary drive of the series. No, the main point of Duster is to cut loose and have some retro-inspired fun. The result is a premiere that’s confident, a little goofy, and a whole lot groovy.

That might not be what people expect from a series that reunites co-creator J.J. Abrams with Lost breakout Josh Holloway. Though Sawyer is certainly on the brain here, there are no echoes of Lost’s mystery-box structure, nor the genre approach of co-creator LaToya Morgan’s work on Into The Badlands and The Walking Dead. Instead, the series tries to evoke the vibe of a show made in the 1970s, not just set there. That makes it a little bit Starsky & Hutch, a little bit Police Woman, and a little bit Sheba, Baby. In an era when The Pitt has made old-fashioned medical dramas cool again, Duster wants to do the same for old-fashioned action-crime series.

Didn’t see it mentioned already but The Eternaut on Netflix.

It’s post-apocalyptic series from Argentina. Only six episodes but it’s been renewed for a second season already.

Without giving anything away (only an episode and a half in so far and don’t know much myself), but it’s set during the summer and one night lights go out and a snow falls and anyone caught outside dies. Not sure what’s going on yet.

You won't know what's going on at the end of Season 1 either.

I really enjoyed the show, though, and with subtitles the audio track (Spanish or Italian) and character actions were in sync. A lot of human interactions in a preposterously-difficult time and so much of it was believable. Good show.

i'm enjoying it too. two episodes left....

I don't think Tom Segura is very funny at all, but I find Burt Kreischner even more unfunny.
You should probably stay far away from the Two Bears One Cave podcast.
Segura is ok, but Bert Kreischer is awful.
I've caught bits and pieces. I've seen some funny bits but Bert is mostly insufferable. Tom has funny moments but he often comes off as arrogant. Meh.

Tom is good enough. Burt is Cable Guy level unfunny.
Cable Guy the movie is great.

Did you mean Larry the Cable Guy?
None of them are Jeff Dunham level unfunny

Adding the ventriloquist dummies raises (lowers?) the unfunny bar by a lot.

Just binged the latest season (#2) of Black Snow. It’s a cold case / missing person show in Australia starring Travis Fimmel. He’s great in it. This season was just 6 episodes so it’s a pretty quick watch, and it’s a show my wife and I like. I believe it’s AMC, so we watch it on Prime.

You had me at Travis Fimmel.

If it's unhinged Travis Fimmel... it moved.

Yeah he’s definitely got some demons in this character. Nothing over the top, but he’s got some good crazy there.

Yep, it's getting better and pulling me back in. Looking forward to last two episodes and how they close out the season.

And to answer your spoiler question, the answer is yes. Conrad is a weirdo. Go Ritchie!

Watched Beirut last night. Don’t waste your time. Is there such a thing as too much plot? Maybe I’ve just been too tired since surgery.

He was really good last season, but the actor playing young Jesse Gemstone is amazing. There were a couple times in the most recent Gemstones episode where he said something off screen that I swore it was Danny McBride talking.
Spot. On.

It's crazy how he has that speech pattern down.

Once you hear it, he can be on screen and you would think it was McBride

I really enjoyed the new Earnhardt doc on prime.

Hey Rusty!
Gonna have to watch this. The only Daytona 500 I ever attended he held off Gordon for the win in '98. My wife attended many earlier because her Dad was a HUGE Earnhardt fan. When he passed we collected a ton of paraphernalia, we had more #3 **** than we knew what to do with.

Yea me too. Way too much. I may have a few die cast cars that are worth a little bit.

1923 Season 2 was actually pretty good

There was one scene where Bronn from GoT drops “that’s someone’s daughter “ :lmao:
Yep. I know it's received mix messages but I enjoyed the season. They had so much to wrap up in the finale and I feel like they did a good job. For me, great show.

Conan Must Go on Max is kinda hit or miss but the Sigmund Freud bit on the Austria episode was hilarious. Classic Conan.

The Rehearsal season 2 is crushing it. I absolutely lost it in episode 3...haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
Eps 1 and 2 had no comedy, just monotone and depressing (but interesting).
But Ep 3...

Just wow, lost it multiple times:
Clone dog, instead of helping his human in diabetic distress, lays a turd 1/4th his body length. (can't script that even if you tried)

Hairdo / bald skull cap to become a baby: Waterboarding himself with mothers milk.

Sister Mary's face. Father's elongated arms and the stilt legs. Robot girlfriend. Military training with long hair. Then the receding hairline later on.

Finished Goliath last night and I generally like the whole thing but season 1 was the best. Seasons are mostly independent but looseley connected. I thought the ending of Season 2 was a bit out of character and I had felt like they got a little artsy after season 1. The Patty character was a little annoying to me at times. I would recommend watching it if you haven't yet.

Late to the party but just finished season 1 of Goliath

Really enjoyed watching everyone getting what they deserved at the end.

The scene when the Van hit the woman was a :jawdrop:moment.

Hope the other seasons are as good.

Keep hope alive.
My wife and i finished season 1 Goliath a few months ago. Loved it. Season 2? Made it to episode 5 I think and stopped.
Wonder if it follows Lincoln Lawyer?
Season one was very good, season 2 forgettable, season 3 good, not as good as season one.

New 'traveling' gameshow
Destination X
Hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Destination X sees a group of contestants go on the road trip of a lifetime but they have no idea of their location. In order to win, they must figure out their mystery locations. Once they're on the blacked-out Destination X bus, the journey turns into a real-life game board, with challenges designed to offer clues as to their location, along with a few misdirects to keep them guessing. At the end of each episode, the contestant who places an X on a map furthest from the actual location packs their bags. The first participant to reach Destination X will be crowned the winner.

looks interesting, even though I'm not much for these types of game shows - how was the first show?

Amazon Prime just added an oldie but a goodie "Remember" with Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, Jurgen Prochnow and host of other familiar faces.

As a favor to his fellow Auschwitz survivor friend in a nursing home, an elderly man with dementia goes out hunting and killing the Nazi's responsible killing his (the friends) family.

Plummer aint John Wick, and the movie stays grounded to what a geezer can realistically do. Nice payoff at the end.

First leg X spot ended up being in Rome, Italy - right next to the Colosseum. They wear VR headsets that the host can control see/not see out of. They ride in a bus that is blacked out for windows (actually screens that can show whatever they want - true scenery or scenery from elsewhere.

They traveled through some rural locations with some clues to where they might be - like the first area looked like Mediterranean by the structures. Then some writing that could be Italy/Rome/Greece/Crete, etc or some where those nations conquered. Had a coin task in a famous well that people toss coins and make a wish- up top, but they were down underneath it. The images on the coins gave an answer to riddles, but also gave obscure clues to where they were. Get a coin right down there allows 1 person up top to run through town or wherever to find another coin. Pinocchio was a final riddle clue as they went to a store with all Pinocchio stuff to find a coin. Each remote location coin found becomes an opponent nominee that has to mark the map where they think they specifically are. Furthest X loses and goes home. So not just the country, but the city, and the street could be the closest distance.

Not too bad as there wasn't too much strategy/social aspect yet. No voting, but people can plan moves to target people (like the people that ran around in town wouldn't be good nominees as they seen the most), though only if they win tasks.

The former Big Brother winner and the Challenge competitor went home. Felt that another player intentionally steered him wrong (but that guy's whole group thought the same wrong place).

Watched the first two episodes of the Librarians: The Next Chapter. The original movies and show with Noah Wyle was fun and a little campy but enjoyable. Not sure what this version is supposed to be. I like the two backup characters, they play off each other nicely. The guardian is good too. The Librarian comes across as overly silly, playing up the man out of time cliche. We'll see if he evens out.
