I think I am three or four episodes in to "Your Friends and Neighbors" with Jon Hamm.
About a millionaire who loses his job and catches his wife with his good friend, so he starts stealing from the neighbors as a means to continue his lifestyle / alimony, etc.
It's ok all around. Hamm is great. No real eye candy. Humor is spotty.
seriously? Olivia Munn is hot

You know how I know Payne is gay?

I have two punch lines to that question. One is just a stereotype. The other would earn me a vacation.
I assume one is "Coldplay"
You know how I know you're gay?
Scarves are for all of us bro.

Season 3 of Yellowjackets coming soon.
And what a mess season 3 was. It was like they had only a day to write the script for each episode and just kept resorting to different ways to have characters kill other characters. Eventually I ended up disliking every main character except maybe Callie.
Definitely seems to be at a point of "okay let's wrap this thing up"
I've watched the show, mostly... still have no idea which name goes to which character. hasn't gotten in the way of my viewing.

and even my 13yo daughter finds the whole thing silly- which I'm sure it's meant to be.

I think I find the life in the woods part more interesting than the 20 years later back home part. but don't really care enough about either. i guess we'll see how they're rescued in S4 and it's all feeling a bit Losty.

This is unfortunate. The concept of this sounds really good but not feeling great about starting this now.

There's going to be a Season 4? Aaargh. What's left for the survivors to do? They're already killing and eating each other as adults. Will Shauna and Callie go on mom-daughter killing expeditions, then go home to clean up and eat grilled cheese sandwiches and do homework while getting a piece of dad out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow?

It started out as a promising series and I was interested for awhile. But when they started rejecting chances at being rescued because "It" gave magical power to some of them I lost interest; it wasn't possible for me to suspend disbelief any more. Writing became rushed and almost every character became unlikable.

Most recent episode of Mobland was solid. Still think Miren and the grandson are over the top and I did not care for one scene in this episode.
Have a hard time believing it would have gone down like that in real life.

well... Hillary Swank is new and a great actress- so I guess whatever she wants to do.

and it will be all about the rescue.

the survivor story has become rinse-repeat with different people taking turns showing their loony bin. stopped caring at all, even though I came in caring not so much. and agreed- lost in the woods looking for goofy reasons to stay lost in the woods.. no gracias. so in that way, seeing hints at rescue as we did in S3 was more interesting to me.

Yeah, we're lateish season 1 and thinking of bailing. Too bad

I guess the warning here about the birthing scene in the Pitt prepared me but I wasn't all that shocked by it. It looked a little fake.
Still loving the show though!

Didn’t see it mentioned already but The Eternaut on Netflix.

It’s post-apocalyptic series from Argentina. Only six episodes but it’s been renewed for a second season already.

Without giving anything away (only an episode and a half in so far and don’t know much myself), but it’s set during the summer and one night lights go out and a snow falls and anyone caught outside dies. Not sure what’s going on yet.

I'm about 1/3 through the 1st ep. Dubbing is painfully bad... and I'm not sure I have time or emergy to watch and also focus on subtitles.

I managed about 5 minutes and tapped out because of the dubbing.

When is dubbing not painfully bad? If the actors doing the dubbing were any good, they'd be actually acting.

Fun tidbit I learned, foreign dubbing for stars is usually the same actor every time. Often it's like a soap opera actor or something. But someone like, say, Michael Douglas, is always dubbed by the same guy in each country. There's a French Michael Douglas, an Italian Michael Douglas, a German Michael Douglas, a Japanese Michael Douglas, and every movie he's in they have to hire the same guy to do the voice. And often it's someone that plays the same "type" of character when they're acting in their native country's projects.

This is the kind of useless knowledge Al Gore invented the internet to fill my head with. Thank you

Dubbing can be anywhere from barely noticeable to bad enough to ruin the show.
Watched Arctic Circle and couldn't tell it was dubbed -- the timing and inflection was seamless.
Watched The Mire and the dubbing was so bad it was unwatchable.
I much prefer subtitles.

I'm patiently waiting for AI to take over. What they'll do is hire an actor to provide the voice, and then, use AI to re-draw the lips so that it appears in sync. The technology is in its infancy but once the issues regarding AI are sorted out with the Actor's Guild, I think this will start to roll out and completely change the game. We're going to go through a heyday of foreign-made content dubbed into English that will really broaden audiences, and, English-language content will reach new markets that are currently under-served for the same reasons.

Oddest thing I've seen lately was a non dubbed Hispanic version of Breaking Bad. Instead of just dubbing they hired actual actors to replicate the original scenes. The guy they hired to play Walter White had the shiny bald head down perfect.

Not only that, the original actors will agree to have their voice cloned so it will sound like them talking in different languages. Unfortunately putting dubbing actors out of work. Already happening.

I am not sure which ruins a show more. Being all in subtitles or dubbing. Both are equally annoying to me. I miss so much with subtitles because I end up just trying to read the titles so fast that I really miss actually watching what is going on. And dubbing just irks me when the words don't match the lips. It just ruins it. More often than not I just don't bother with those shows that require one or the other.

I'm ok with the words not matching the lips. It's the wooden voiceover and bad sound matching I have a problem with

Yes, foreign-language dubbing is an art of its own. It's not an automatic process. If you get people doing it that actually care, and if you get a distributor that actually wants to spend the money to get it right... you get a good product out of it.

If you get a distributor who wants it done as cheaply as possible and just hires whoever speaks whatever language off Craigslist, you get a crappier product at the end that is little more than a money-grab on the rights.

It would be nice if every distributor cared about the product more than the profit.

When a show/movie is dubbed, I watch the movie with my glasses off. Most times it’s just fuzzy enough for me to not notice. 🤓

First episode of the studio is great. Bryan Cranston rules.
I’m a few episodes in. Not what I expected but, episodes two and three have been great.

I don’t mind Seth Rogan at all and actually find him funny which is a rare take apparently.

Episode two was in particular very creative.
“The Oner” very insidery stuff. The show is very well done, higher production quality than I expected.

The Four Seasons (Netflix) 6.5/10 - A "dramedy" about a group of couple friends and their struggles in their marriages. 8 very short episode are really set up as 4 vignettes where in each vignette the couples get together for a vacation get together. Think "Couples Retreat" mixed with... I dunno, a poor man's White Lotus? Another show probably worth watching with a significant other that is premised fine but just not well executed. The acting is good and there are some funny back and forths with the characters but I couldn't tell the entire time what the point was (other than to show how flawed we can be in relationships as humans). I definitely felt while watching that the show did not earn the "twist" is gave in the last "season" and Mrs. Woz and I weren't sure who to be rooting for nor what the point was other than that we all suck at being in a relationship.
6.5 out of 10 is fair, but I liked it a little more than that. When this goes for a laugh, it hits pretty often.
I liked this as well. Having gone through some of the marital issues and parenting mishaps similar to Nick (Steve Carell's character), it did strike a chord with me a few times.

Any landscaping involved?

Yeah, a buddy and I were texting about it - he warned me there was one shocking scene, and I guess it was supposed to be that, but it looked a bit like Alien Romulus.

Rasmuuus?

Dark Winds is pretty good. Decent mystery stories and I love the Southwest scenery - I've actually been in a couple of the small towns they mention in the show. Plus, I like Zahn McClarnon.
I'll continue to champion this show whenever I can in this thread. The writers do a phenomenal job with the culture and landscape of where and when this show is set. Wonderful attention to detail that honors the Navajo people.
I just finished Season 3 and thought it was better than previous seasons, which were good. There were more supernatural-type overtones and events, the main character got truly lost at times (metaphorically), relationships foundered and or resurrected --- just a real good season. It's well set up for an additional season too if they do one. I hope so.

The culture and landscape are the main characters. After that comes McClarnon who did a good job.

It's a pretty fun watch. Wish the dubbing was better, because I think theres some good acting happening. Also wish we didn't find out what was the root cause, because it became less interesting for me afterwards. But it's a pretty remarkable depiction for a TV show of a post apoc world getting to that spot.

Argentina also produced a not that recent underated fave of mine... Porn and Ice cream (Porno y Helado). Super goofy comedy.
