Apple's latest, Murderbot and Stick both fit into Apple's habit of making mildly entertaining TV that doesn't elevate- but still entertains.

wish Murderbot was longer than 1/2 hour which I guess is support of the show. but it goes by really quick at 30min, and doesn't feel like it covers much per episode.
Stick... imagine how you'd imagine Owen Wilson would act... there ya go.
heard Skarsgard talking about Murderbot on NPR this weekend

no previous context. no idea who the guy was. totally blank slate and i left the interview thinking "yep, i need to find this show.."
you had no idea who Skarsgaard is? any of them, or just that particular one?

LOL - nearly the entire flippin family are actors. I always have to look up which one is which. https://people.com/movies/all-about-the-skarsgard-family/

Stellan is a celebrated actor both in his native Sweden and stateside, appearing in more than 100 films throughout his decades-long career — including Good Will Hunting, Thor, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Dune, to name a few.

But Stellan isn't the only Skarsgård in Hollywood: The Swedish star has passed along his acting chops to six of his seven sons.

Gustaf, who is best known for his roles in Vikings, Cursed, and Westworld.

Alexander, won an Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe. Known for Zoolander, True Blood, Generation Kill, Succession, and Big Little Lies.

Sam, didn't go into acting - went medical and works in an ICU.

Bill, made it big in blockbuster movies John Wick 4, Allegiant, Deadpool 2.

Eija, daughter - not an actress, but did some modeling.

Valter, more known in Europe as seen in Black Lake, Katla, and The Journey of a Legend - biography of Toronto Maple Leaf's Hall Of Famer Borje Salming.

Ossian, new to acting as a teenager so I don't know of his movies/series.

Kolbjorn, new to acting as a teenager so I don't know of his movies/series.

i'm unfamiliar with Nordic peoples in general, but particularly this fella.

taking this to the tv thread where it belongs

Welcome To Wrexham
I'm going to be pimping this series on my death bed, because no one watches this awesome show. Whenever I recommend it, I always say that while I don't give a **** about soccer, the show is must-watch even if you hate socc
I watched the first season and thought it was enjoyable but I didn't feel like I was watching something so amazing that I had to rush out and recommend it. That honor belongs to Psych and Supernatural.

I'm a big Anne Rice fan. Love the vampire world she created. Snoozed through first season of AMC Interview with a Vampire. Watched first episode of season 2. Gave up. Forced myself to watch a few more episodes and once they got to Paris it got good.

Same thing happened with Spooks which I didn't think I would stick with. Took a season and a half to find it's legs but S2 finished strong and S3 going strong.

Really enjoying Your Friends and Neighbors thus far (2 episodes left). Almost reminds me of something you'd get if you mixed Fargo up with a bit of White Lotus. Also really impressed with Olivia Munn's acting chops. She's killing this role

It's good, but I wanted to like this more.

getting back to Stick... I hope it gets better. for now, it's fair to middling at best.
Yeah it’s pretty bad so far. Disappointment for sure 4 episodes in.

Hate the kid, hate the new girlfriend. This has to be some writer’s trick to make them both so unlikable to set up something down the road, right?!?

S2 of Tires is better than S1 so far. About 6 episodes in, solid funny in every episode so far.
I liked season one a lot but, yeah, this season focuses more on Gillis and ergo is funnier. Gillis's girlfriend is an awesome character as well. Season one also felt a little disjointed at times though I do think that Will is and should be the main character.

Thomas Hayden Church and Vince Vaughn were also really funny additions in their respective minor parts. The show seems to realize its strong points and got better at honing them in. Plus Gillis is now a major star so this is kind of like watching Jimmy Carey in Dumb and Dumber where pretty much everything his character does is going to be funny due to the viewer's appreciation for the comedian.

That's probably what he meant by a "bit like White Lotus"
It's a fun watch much like White Lotus. It's definitely better than Season 3 of White Lotus but can't touch 1 and 2 which were classics. I'd give Your Friends & Neighbors a solid 7.5/10.

Gerben is amazing as Will, he is just playing himself but it freaken works. Ron White and Lovitz as well crushed their roles, the gun shtick was A plus.

Wow, I can see an argument for S1 not being as good but S2 was damn near perfect.

I have seen so many variations of opinion online about how the three White Lotus seasons compare with each other. Which is a sign that it’s doing something right.

Yep. White Lotus. I rank em:

Season 1.
Season 2.
Season 3.

On a side note I worked at the resort season 1 was filmed so I'm clearly biased

Very cool. Was the Manager's character based on you?

Shhhhhhh. Ha ha

I was just a part time security agent there. I was the Director of Security at the Andaz Maui at Wailea at the time. Just down the road. The person in charge at the Four Seasons where White Lotus was filmed had been in charge there for 30 years. We were the new kids on the block and and I wanted to see how they operated. It's an elite resort.

Well damn, I guess that one got past me.

I tried watching season one of The Rehearsal and remember not liking it at all.
Guess I'll have to give it another shot.

Twin
on MHz Choice

8-episode Norwegian series about an accidental killing and a purposeful coverup. Very self-contained, nothing supernatural or mysterious, just a few people making up a coverup on the fly. The acting is surprisingly good, especially Rebekka Nystabakk and Kristofer Hivju (the Scotts Turf Builder guy). Plenty of tension, no way to guess the ending. I enjoyed it.

I just started on Episode 1 of the first season. Didn't get a chance to finish the episode as we ended up needing to do something else before it was over. I can't decide if I like it or not. It is definitely different and has the feel of Impractical Jokers or the Carbonaro Effect to me but with a lot more awkwardness.

Are you a fan of Fielder's previous work?
Honestly....didn't know he had previous work.

That makes more sense then. You're either going to love his sense of humor or hate it. I think he's borderline genius but realize it's not for everyone. Nathan For You and The Curse are some of his other shows.

Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Fenn's Treasure on Netflix was pretty good. 3 episodes.

Gold & Greed Follows the true story of Forrest Fenn, an art collector, who buried a $2 million treasure in 2010 in the Rocky Mountains with 24 cryptic verses offering the only hint to its whereabouts. More than 400,000 searched for it, including five people who died while searching for it.

Finished Netflix Turning Point: The Vietnam War. Such a sad watch. The Vietnam war is in the top 5 worst stains on our young country. Just epic failures before the conflict, during the conflict and arguably the worst failures came after the suppose end of the conflict. Really marked a shift in how citizens view the government.

I really liked Pee Wee as Himself although it was much sadder than expected. I remember watching him on Letterman before his first movie came out. Saw Big Adventure in the theater and Pee Wee's Playhouse was must see Saturday mornings, and I was in my early 20s at the time. lol That, combined with Ralph Bakshi's Mighty Mouse made for perfect wake-n-bake Saturday morning entertainment.
I had no idea about his life before Pee Wee and found his early years really interesting. The very end was really sad and it sucks that he appears to have been a victim of some political grandstanding and a witchhunt later in life.
His interviews were great and showed a really wry sense of humor, but a troubled life underneath. I'm glad the documentary was made and he was able to set some things straight. RIP Paul Reubens

Anyone watch the Tylenol Murders doc? I didn't know quite a bit of that stuff, given I was fairly young.

Seems, to me, like about a 90+% chance the cyanide came out of Johnson and Johnson's packaging plants, and they were allowed to investigate themselves basically, etc.

And the police and government just let it happen.
