E4 of S4 of the Bear has four people in it, three of whom are not regulars. Guess this is how they afforded all of those music rights.

The entire episode was built around one speech.

So yes, this is not a plot-driven series, it's a character-driven series.

Yeah we watched 4 last night

SPOILER!!!!!!1111!!$

Why am I watching an entire episode of her and her friends kid spending an hour together?

Watched Dying for Sex on Hulu over the past couple of evenings. Not entirely what I expected. Extremely well done. The last couple of episodes in particular are excellent.

Squid game season 3- liked the first 3 episodes, wasn’t a fan of the last 3. Felt ridiculous, even for Squid Game standards

Started Yellowjackets season 1, super good so far

Agree on the thoughts of the Bear above…liked the first two seasons but season 3 was pretty widely panned so I skipped it. Maybe I’ll watch a season 3 summary somewhere then dive into S4…..
Last 20 minutes were hilarious... I didn't remember anyone.

Haven't started The Bear S4 but the mixed reviews here have me tempering my expectations.
Finished up Season 4 of The Bear. Dragged a bit in the middle, but the rest was great. Way better than S3. Does not reach the heights of S1 or S2 but worth a watch to see the character development. The whole season has a different vibe, more positive and even cathartic at times and I really enjoyed watching the characters grow instead of just the same old same old. Just renewed for S5.

watched a 4 part docuseries on Netflix about the 7/7 London public transportation bombings.

I didn't really know much about them, so I learned a bunch. also interesting that they got really high-level people to interview including former head of MI5 and Tony Blair (along with all kinds of other folk).

Tires season two is pretty awesome.
Me and a couple of my best college buddies are watching this "together" (one's in Minnesota, the other in Denver)... it's perfect for us as we tend to jab at each other in similar ways that they do in this show. Freakin' hilarious.
College buddies and I watched Letterkenny this way and it fits the mold as well. I'm trying to get them to watch Tires now.

Department Q (Netflix) - 8.5/10

I almost turned this show off after the first episode. It has all the standard cop drama tropes such as the gritty and jaded (due to a prior trauma) lead detective who has a penchant for brutality (and who would be fired IRL for numerous things), the enigmatic but brilliant and resourceful foreign side kick who should be running the department but for being foreign with different colored skin, the quirky, shy young female detective who seems like she cannot tie her shoes but will inevitably make some important discovery, and a seemingly inexplicable mystery that doesn't seem to tie into anything yet will, by show's end, tie into everything. That said, the writing and acting engage in said tropes rather well and the pacing is good. I was definitely very interested as the show progressed. If you like police procedurals and mysteries, it's definitely worth the watch.

My primary gripe keeping this from a 9 or better is:

It took her four years to guess the villains after the significant trauma she experienced involving them in her late teens when she was literally kidnapped on the same boat from Mohr where the brother died? I get that the plot device of making her a prosecutor widened the proverbial net, but c'mon...

agree. it was very cliched, but it worked.

Trafficked on Hulu looks fascinating (and maybe disturbing at the same time).

"Award-winning journalist Mariana van Zeller investigates new emerging underworlds, including the trade in body parts, hired assassins, sextortion and the smuggling of people across the U.S.-Mexico border, to meet the players and learn the business."

Smoke on Apple TV: former firefighter, turned arson investigator, gets help from police detective to solve two possible serial arsonists.

I've watched the eps that have been released, and I'll continue to watch, but the male lead actor is not a good actor. Can't really put a finger on what exactly he isn't good at, so I'll just say everything.

Home girl from Friday Night Lights is looking good.

6.5/10 so far.

Hmmmm... I thought Reagan from Tires (bikini car wash ep) was Ava Addams, but apparently it's someone else named Kerryn Feehan.

Tires - half an episode and turned it off. Way too juvenile.

ETA: There is a bikini car wash espisode!?!?!?!?!
I'm sure there are some really good Frasier episodes you can re-watch. Sounds more your speed.
Sorry bud, every show isn't for everyone. Couldn't get past the guy pretending to blow the other guy why he was on the phone. I'm sure some people liked it.

Willing to revist the bikini car was episode tho, not sure it would be any funnier, but I'd watch that.

I'm sure you have plenty of Nickelback albums, pal.

To me it just kinda gets old. It's juvenile for sure but that can be good. This just seems like a one trick pony.

Oh, and the bikini episode isn't the greatest of bikini car washes (if you catch my drift).
Yeah, that was kind of the point, I think - they got some local waitresses that were a mixed bag.

That was a good show. Nothing unexpected happened, but what was done was done well.

"Bears" (S4 E7) is essentially a mini-movie like "Fishes" from S2. It starts off as chaotic as that episode but turns into something quite different, which neatly shows how the characters have grown since the time of "Fishes". This will be the one they submit to the Emmys.

For people who like this kind of show this season is as good as tv gets. I can’t wait for the next, what should be final, season.

I really liked Adolescence. I've been a big fan of Stephen Graham since This is England and he really shines here, especially in the final episode. And the kid is a really impressive actor too. An all around original piece of filmmaking.
100%. Just a solid watch. Graham nailed it. People looking for something outside the normal, done before stuff, this is it. Solid.

Started The Waterfront yesterday on the recommendation of my daughter. On episode 3, has an Ozark feel to it but different enough to keep on. Only 8 episodes so won't take long. Liking it so far.

As their storied North Carolina fishing empire decays, the damaged Buckleys grapple to revive their imperiled maritime heritage.

The Sandhamm Murders

This is a "nordic noir" series that is in no way "noir", and is more like Midsomer Murders with awesome Swedish archipelago scenery. Alexandra Rappaport is the main character, with 2 main cop buddies. She has a huge house on a fjord, is always immaculately attired, and is always allowed into police investigations to help solve them (like Jessica Fletcher). There's little suspense, and there's usually one crime per episode. The main story line is how she misses out on her men --- the idiot ex-husband, the first cop buddy who finally chooses his wife over her, and her second cop buddy who turns his wife away and then turns into a drug addict.

Highlight of the show is when someone comes over to visit her and they meet on her scenic back porch, seeing how many syllables she puts into the word "hey" when saying hi. It can be anywhere from 1-5 syllables. Not gripping. Not terrible. My wife loved it.

Squid Games 3 was satisfying to close it out for the most part. S1 was fantastic, 2 sucked, but 3 was ok. Don't know that I will remember much about the overall experience a month from now but not unhappy I watched.

Old Guard 2 was terrible. The first was solid fun with a nice premise. Then they did this, butchered the lore they created with a stupid prophecy and figured, hey people liked Uma Thurman with a sword 20 years ago so let's give her one and then....profit.

Yea I don't feel like she's aged well for that role

Incredible camerawork. Stephen Graham was great but I thought the kid and the shrink stole the show. Super disturbing glimpse into the life of a teenage boy.

I thought everybody was great...a credit to the high level of writing.

While there were a few moments i thought- cool concept, but lets edit this forward (walking through the school, iirc)...the continuous one shot camerawork really stole the show and took what was already a really good series and elevated it into something excellent.
