Does it get less boring and British over time?

Also Apple shows tend to be highly overrated so I’m probably good with my decision

We’ll see maybe I’ll give it another shot when I renew to watch Pluribus or whatever it’s called

Apple shows are all solid 5-7s for me. Above average, mostly worth watching, but never top tier. Youve mentioned things being overrated...not something i ever care about, critics ratings. I try things if they look interesting, if i like them i keep watching. If i dont i dont. If im on the fence, ill check in here. If people whos opinions i respect like something ive given up on, i might give it another try...has succeeded a few times over the years (Mr Nobody with a bullet).

Slow horses, as people keep saying, gets going after a start that didnt hook me. But then it hooked me...think i binged two or three seasons over a few weeks after that. Not boring. Stories move along with a mix of action and humor. Its not elite, but for me worth the watch.

Late arrival for me with Slow Horses

Starting the monstrous binge...
Same...i started it a while back, eps 1, never finished it. Decided to pick it up last night.
I got through two or three episodes and stopped. i didn't get the big deal. It was fine but It didn't grab me. I may go back some day.
Same, but doubt I’ll go back to it
Slow Horses is amazing and Dan Lamb not liking it is the biggest recommendation it could get.

I highly recommend Peacock so you can catch things like Chicago Fire, The Voice, Law and Order: SVU, etc.

Slow Horses is one of those rare Apple TV shows that don't fall into the 5-7 category like most. I'd say Ted Lasso is #1 and Slow Horses is #2 for their offerings. I bailed on Severance after season 1 but I know others would say that is one of, if not the best show on Apple. Anyhow, Slow Horses just keeps getting better IMO, if for no other reason to watch Gary Oldman be Gary Oldman.

Like Billy Bob was made for his role on Landman, Gary Oldman was made for his part on Slow Horses.

Peacock - “the American Cheese of streaming services”

I don’t necessarily go strictly by it but Slow Horses gets a 8.3 from IMDB - usually the stuff highly rated there you can assume is good unless it’s just not your genre or you have an issue with that topic/actor, etc.

I do confess that if I am channel surfing on a lazy Saturday or something that the Law and Order franchise is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Those shows are mindless TV easy watches. You know the beats. You know what will happen. Sometimes they have a moral conundrum for a little bit of "hmmm....which way do I lean here". Perfect for the lazy, rainy want to not think too much viewing pleasure.

I’m 10 years late but I’m wrapping season 2 of the Leftovers….kind of depressing but I haven’t been able to stop watching it
Leftovers is fantastic tv.
Season 1 was ok. Tapped out in Season 2

Quite possibly the most overrated TV show of all time
Now I'm even more confident in my opinion that this is one of the great shows in TV history.

Slow, Severance, and a handful of others are worth watching imo. Most of the rest are fine to watch, but not necessary.

except for See. Fantabulously amazing/bad. Looooove it.

All kidding aside, and I'm very likely to get rid of Peacock and Hulu when my sub ends but it does have Psych! and I liked the first season of Twisted Metal.

Agreed. The show was so much better when it focused on the crime (with the crime story being the main character) rather than the investigating officers.

My understanding is that the turn to making political statements came was Hartsgay (sp?) took some ownership in the franchise.

The original L & O worked so well is that that there was very little soap opera/personal life storylines in them, just the crime story and trial itself.

D**k Wolf pretty much sold his soul with all the Chicagos. They take all the worst tropes from the various medical/emergency services/crime dramas and space them out through the dumb personal stories of the characters

Soap operas do it better.

Thanks. I feel better now

I pointed that out to my wife like two decades ago... she still hates me for it, and many other things. "Sonny and Cher? They did it."

eta: that might've been for the Love Boat

One of the best things about L&O is it taught Harry Vanderspeigle how to speak English.

Every so often they're the defense lawyer. When that happens, 90% of the time their character is modeled after either Johnnie Cochran or Gloria Allred.

So I took advantage of that HBO Max deal and decided to start with Peacemaker and while I liked Season 1 well enough to give season 2 a try, I have to agree with site consensus that it just wasn't as good. I might even argue that it was pretty awful but I still finished it since I'm either a glutton for punishment or a bit of a completionist. Season 1 was clearly the better story but a lot of the dialogue was very clunky and cringe worthy.. This is prevalent throughout but I noticed it more in s1 but that might be because I was paying attention more. Freddie Stroma was wasted as the needy/goofy/awkward comic relief. A large portion of the comedy didn't land (at least for me) but I guess that's the same as the poor dialogue complaint. I think they tried to make it too comedic and witty. I guess overall I feel like this was a bit poorly written (or maybe I just don't have the same sense of humor as James Gunn) and there was wasted potential here. I'd say watch season 1 but season 2 is very skipable (although I did like episode 4) Tim Medows was horrible casting and I wonder who thought that was a good idea. Ok, I'm off to watch Rome.
Oh man Rome is so good
It was good but I don't think it was anything amazing and it lacked the "epicness" of a GOT or Vikings...at least for me. I did like the 2 leads and James Purefoy's portrayal of Mark Antony but was a little let down with the lack of battles. They showed 1 and it wasn't very good. I think I like s1 the best.

speaking of Apple clunkers... for whatever reason, I stuck it out with the Alaska show that just wrapped its first season. I liked most of the cast, hated the woman lead (casting) and overall thought it was silly stupid... but not in a See awesome way.

Just started watching "For All Mankind" for the first time; 2 episodes in. So much familiar stuff in there that I remember from real life. Definitely sticking with it.
And now I have this song stuck in my head, which is fine with me.

Not a bad watch

Big nostalgia vibes
really loved S1- thought it was great. S2... kinda decent, with some highs and lows. S3... I don't think I made it very far.

Slow horses, as people keep saying, gets going after a start that didnt hook me. But then it hooked me...think i binged two or three seasons over a few weeks after that. Not boring. Stories move along with a mix of action and humor. Its not elite, but for me worth the watch.
speaking of Apple clunkers... for whatever reason, I stuck it out with the Alaska show that just wrapped its first season. I liked most of the cast, hated the woman lead (casting) and overall thought it was silly stupid... but not in a See awesome way.
Is this the Last Frontier or whatever? I watched the first episode and was thinking it was probably gonna be dumb and make me mad if I watched it all.
That's the one.

An argument could be made for it being dumb and mindless entertainment. I suppose if you dont really care about the dumb part its got some spy intrigue, explosions and guns, car chases etc.

So pretty much everything is gonna be on Netflix if this acquisition goes through. It’s good for people who want to minimize subscriptions I guess.

Older show but I am checking out "The Blacklist". First few eps are pretty good but am guessing it becomes formulaic and most eps will be similar regardless of the most wanted person they are after.

Spot on. Life’s too short to spend too much time on sub 7 shows
Slow, Severance, and a handful of others are worth watching imo. Most of the rest are fine to watch, but not necessary.

except for See. Fantabulously amazing/bad. Looooove it.
Severance is fine but 7 at best
Shrinking is really good maybe 7-8 there
Mythic Quest is good too

Gotta give that one another try

Couldnt get by Mac not really being Mac
