Stupid Baby Names (2 Viewers)

Last edited by a moderator:
When I was a kid my cousin had a next door neighbor who was named Red and his last name was Shoe. Those parents had something wrong with them.

Why should I? It's a traditional, but still unique name that pays tribute to the greatest man I have ever known. I still bet you have a stupid name.
And which of the 5 would that be? Not really so unique now, is it?
Three actually, and I bet it's better than your lame-### name.
Are you Irish?
Not that it's any of your business, but yes.Still waiting on that name.

I already stated that ethnic names are not stupid if given to family members of the same origin. So take a pill. You'll be waiting a while. But suffice it to say that it's not on the list.

Spinoff of the Baby Names thread. For some reason, people giving their kids stupid names is one of my all-time pet peeves. It's like a pet elephant peeve. I can't stand it, and I don't understand why people do it. I reaize there have always been trends in naming kids, but when did the trends start including preppy or made up stupid names (I'm excluding African American names from that question)?

Slightly less annoying is coming up with some new way to spell a name. For example, I've traditionally seen it spelled Megan, Meagan, or Meghan... so my buddy and his wife combined them all and named their girl Meaghan. Nothing like a couple extra letters for effect.

So if I get enough posts, I'll keep a running list. Any of you expectant fathers, check in here from time to time. If you see a name on the list below, DO NOT GIVE IT TO YOUR CHILD.

WTF is wrong with Miles?
If peeing your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis.

Ok, your posts make a lot more sense now.

Does anyone know what Draven means or where it comes from? Have a friend who named her son Draven, never cared enough to ask her why.

Are they vampires? Prolly vampires

If I ever have a son I'm probably going to name him Wolfgang. My backup name is Axel.

I suppose both of those would belong on the list?

OK, since you brought it up:Three kids (boy-girl-boy) with Irish/Gaelic names - Holden (Big J.D. Salinger fan), Erin (Irish word for Ireland) & Colm (traditional Irish name and prolly the most f'ed up of the three). I'm guessing these qualify here...Scotch-Irish by descent.Thoughts???

Erin would clearly not be considered for the list. The other two are stupid, but acceptable in your case. Maybe I should redefine that somehow.

I went to a HS soccer game last year and heard the coach keep yelling "Kid" at the goalie. After awhile I asked the person I came with why won`t the coach call the player by his name. His first name was Kid. Must have named him after Kid Rock.

What's up, Kid?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: How have I missed this thread? One of my biggesr pet peeves right now, mostly the poor boys names.

I think you've just wiped out half of Ireland.
Well if you live in Ireland, it's ok to have Irish names. If you're of Irish decent, giving your child one of these names may be seen as stupid, though acceptable. If you just do it because it's trendy, then it's a stupid name.

It likely comes from the movie/comics "The Crow". Brandon Lee was the lead character in the movie named Eric Draven.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crow_(film)

I had to listen to a woman repeatedly calling her son's name because he was being a pain. The kid's name was Simian.

Hmm, interesting. They're not goth by any means and she's pretty straight laced. The Husband on the other hand is a little different, so I'm assuming he would be the crow fan. I wonder if they have sat down and watched the movie together.

Oh COME ON, forest. Love and kisses, Colin
Is this thread just pure shtick? Perhaps I'm more sensitive than others considering my name and the crap I took for it, but to insult parents for what they name their children just seems mean to me. Maybe I've misjudged the thread's intentions, but mocking people for what they name their children is what bullies would do.I also like La-La. :bag:

Bullies would mock the poor kids, and it's not the kids' fault. It's the parents who deserve the mocking for their actions. This thread is designed to help the kids before they ever have a chance to be bullied due to their parents' stupidity.
