National treasure Quincy Jones (born 1933) grew up in Seattle and attended Seattle University. His early Jazz recordings are different rhythmically from his more familiar R&B and Pop material but he always used the band as an instrument.

Jones was only 23 when he arranged this big band session from 1956. Walkin' is a Bop standard with a convoluted history and a terrific bassline laid down by Paul Chambers.

Jazz is a genre I normally listen to as a change of pace so it was a nice change to immerse myself in it for the past week and a half.  The player matching requirements gave me the opportunity to rediscover some artists who wouldn't have ever come up via the algorithm.

With the Friday night bonuses, my 19 song playlist clocks in at just under two hours.  I'll tack on some others during the season as I roll the dice on anybody who'll get touches and targets.

Going to listen to the different playlists while they are still somewhat short. I started with @Pip's Invitation as I wanted to see what he did without Neil to lean on. I recognized about 2/3rds of the artists but only 2 songs that I had heard before. It was a pretty good listen and flowed together well with nothing I'd have to skip. 

Fav new to me songs-The Boston Rag,Washington DC,Pittsburg to Lebanon and Indianapolis.

I thought the Interpol song was Radiohead until I realized my ears weren't bleeding.
