Is that a career ending injury for Ekeler?

One would think. The Commanders think he tore his Achilles. He was crying. He's thirty years old. I don't put anything past these guys, but it doesn't look good.

He was already in decline at 30. I think, if it is a torn achilleas, he's done for good. He had a nice career for an "underdog" back.

I love Tucker Kraft. I'm in four leagues this year and have him or Tyler Warren in all of them.

So far you are way, way ahead of the game. I was saying in the Tucker Kraft thread that I did not foresee him running a route on 95% of Green Bay's dropbacks, but that's what he's doing. That's an extraordinary rate for a TE, and he's also a sick athlete to go with it.

Serendipity!

That's why I won't slam the door shut on him. He was never supposed to be a lead back and he was an "underdog." You can actually go back in the Ekeler thread and watch me be wrong as hell about him. He's probably my worst call on these boards. Massive L for me.

Here we go. I love my one-word conclusory answer. I apologize for it later on that page, and I also apologize for using the eye test. Maybe I wasn't as dead set against him as I remember. I'm just self-conscious about being wrong, too, so maybe that's why I remember it.

So you can see why I did what I did.

Both seemed pretty great candidates to put up huge years and came just enough cheaper than the Engram/Andrews/Njoku/Hock/Kelce tier that they probably should have been included in (Warren did get pushed up in later drafts but Kraft never really did).

So far this season I have been pretty good with my guesses at RB/TE.

WR not so much.
I took Kraft and Warren in one league since they were going at good value. I started Warren this week, going to be tough to figure out who to slot in each week but it’s a good problem to have.

Ekeler is also by most accounts a good dude and actually embraces and participates with the fantasy community which is cool.

I wrote him off a couple years ago to be honest but he's remained a productive NFL player, if not what he once was for fantasy.

Also, presumably JCM 🚀

I'm maybe biased from holding him in dynasty and watching him a bit closer last year and/or seeing what I want to see.

FWIW, I told my buddy that Kraft AND Matthew Golden would put an end to the Packers spreading everything to seven different players this season, so so far 1/2 and see my above comment about my WR picks so far....

Unfortunately missed out on Kraft here (instead have to roll with Turd Ferguson for now), but fortunately have Kraft in my two other redraft leagues and Warren in my main keeper/dynasty league.

Unfortunately I believed the same but ended up with Golden.

He looks like Golden slumbers so far, but much better days are undoubtedly ahead.

He was Love not underthrowing that one ball away from a 13.5 or so fantasy point performance

Out of sheer desperation for the young fantasy season, I picked up:

Chig Okonkwo, TE Titans

This seems like a good song to fit with the Chris Berman nickname theme:

Gettin’ Chiggy Wit It - Will Smith

I wish I grabbed Ayomanor in one of my leagues. He looks good. A nice upgrade for the all Canadian fantasy team which looks something like

QB Kurtis Rourke is the only one on an NFL roster so that's not great...
RB - Chase Brown / Chuba Hubbard
WR - Ayomanor, Josh Palmer, John Metchie
TE - Theo Johnson

Yeah, you know I nabbed him because he had seven targets from the jump and a bunch of air yards (like 133). That’s rare, they said, and I agreed. It sort of also evinces that Cam Ward isn’t afraid to throw it to him and that he will throw it downfield. I look for that stuff even if high aDOTs mean a lower completion percentage. Just a personal preference. Always loved the vertical game (and our Canadian footballing brothers to the North—I used to be fascinated by the CFL as a really young kid—I rostered and traded for Chuba when he wasn’t fetching a whole lot and I’ve been rewarded).

Anyway, I hope the targets keep coming. That was a ridiculous touchdown.

Chuba looks really good again this year so far. I think because he was "productive" but really pretty meh in '23 when he got his chance- and then they drafted Brooks - a lot of people have an image of him as just a guy but he was legitimately good last season and again to start this year.

Yeah. I completely overpaid for Chuba because I play in one dynasty league that I was sort of treating as my "do whatever the heck you want this is fun" league, and I gave a second-round pick for him (which was probably a round too high for my ten-team league) and he just started running like he did before his last year at Oklahoma State. When Chuba came out for the draft, word got out that he claimed he had a really bum ankle his last year that he played through, and I also read about him having problems or disagreements with his coach (I looked into it and sympathized with Chuba, which, if you look up who the coach was and why Chuba had a bit of a conflict with the guy you will probably be disposed to understand and also sympathize with Chuba—it was not the complaint of an entitled athlete at all, but was actually a pretty reasonable complaint because there are some things that you don't bring into locker rooms when you are an authority figure, in my humble opinion) and I'd always kept an eye on him both because I had Miles Sanders as my RB3 in another league and just because I was curious.

So Chuba had started clearly outplaying Sanders in every way possible in the limited time he was getting—even in the passing game, which Chuba isn't that great at even now, but Sanders was just atrocious at it—Sanders was losing yardage, obviously missing blocks, dropping perfect bunnies . . . everything. So when I had a chance to acquire him I said, "what the hell" and I acquired him and he's started for me for over two seasons. I was worried when they brought Brooks in, but that never materialized, so. . . that's my story with Chuba.

That was way too long, but it's sort of how I treated my two dynasty teams, one of which I spent a ton of time, almost anguished emotion, and ponderous thought on, whereas with the other league I've tended to act impulsively and just treat it like a real hobby that one enjoys and doesn't beat one's self up over. The two approaches have started to merge these days, and I find that the intense and relatively successful one will be okay, but will run its course and my team will get worse given the way the incentive structure in our league is set up, and the other league's team will get better if I think a little more prudently before I act. So it's cool.

Fin. Heh.

When the Jaguars QB throws 3 TDs, you'd expect their top two WR would score a lot of points, right?

This stacks business is more complicated than I thought.

Oof, that Hampton fumble probably just lost me the game. I needed just 2 frickin points from him tonight.
It’s a Monday miracle! They took the fumble away from Hampton and gave it to Herbert. Sorry @rockaction

Holy Moses, Mama! That’s total bollocks!

Naw, that’s sort of the part I play in the FFA redraft leagues. I seem to often be in a position to have a call reversed or something absurd happen that causes me to drop a week. LOL. I’ll never forget when dkp993 beat me by .04 when his RB, Darrell Henderson, ran three yards in every meaningless way but to me and won on Monday night as time expired. I think I dropped to, like, 0-7 that year when that happened. My God. That was the year where as soon as I looked at my draft I was aghast at what I had assembled.

So it’s futile to fight the official scorer, I guess.

Who’s punk/what’s the score? :(

Coach Harbaugh to Omarion Hampton: “Why’d you fumble the damn ball? You’re benched!”

Hampton:

Herbert is such a good guy that he probably told the NFL rep on the sidelines to give the fumble to him rather than mess up the rookie.

Whoa, this decided your matchup?
Yep, I went from 1.5 points up to 0.5 down after the fumble back to 1.5 up when they made the ruling change. That was the last time Hampton touched the ball.

Indeed. I was already sure I was getting the L so I'd already planned on it, but holy heck is that tight and very much chance-y.
I was going to joke before the game that Yahoo still gave you 15% chance to win even though I only needed Hampton to get 2 points total on the night, but I guess they knew something after all.

It seems harder to make speculative adds with the shorter benches this year. Not that my bench is productive or anything.

Yeah, I'd already run into that headlong. I was just going to divulge some strategy related to that, but I'm not sure it's appropriate so I'll eat it and keep it in my back pocket, but it might not even be right anyway. I'm actually, in a fit of maybe that which is too personal, not as abstract or clear of a thinker as I was when I was younger. It's okay, it's just how it is.

Anyway, yeah, I've been looking to add maybe a speculative RB or something, but realizing that it might cost me the upcoming week. Oh well. Different year, different concerns.

Wow, didn’t expect so many of my claims to be granted.

Added

RB Z. Scott - Minnesota Vikings

TE Dallas Goedert - Philadelphia Eagles

WR Tory Horton - Seattle Seahawks

Minnesota Vikings D/ST

K Cam Little - Jacksonville Jaguars
