Added Jonnu Smith - TE PIT
Smith Westerns - Girl In Love

I was just listening to these guys last week--the second album rather than the first. They were good but acted kind of like ##### when I saw them play live.

The brother who were the face of the band went on to do nothing much but the guys in the back of the stage have had success as Whitney.

WW TE Juwan Johnson Saints

Cat People (Putting Out Fire) by Girgio Maroder and David Bowie from Cat People
The remake of the 1942 horror classic shifts this from New York City and it's Central Park Zoo to New Orleans and the French Quarter.

WW RB Kareem Hunt Chiefs

Hymn to Red October by Basil Poledouris from The Hunt for Red October

WW TE Noah Fant Bengals
Le Bracelet by Alain Goraguer from The Fantastic Planet

Added to The Anzac Diggers from the waiver wire:

Kayshon Boutte, WR, New England Patriots

"The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers

(On January 25, 2024, Boutte was issued a warrant of arrest in connection to an online gambling investigation. Boutte is alleged to have placed 8,900 wagers while underage, including at least six on LSU Tigers football games.)

Good add, I've always thought he was way overrated but the stars might be aligning for him.

I’m having trouble cutting talent for lottery tickets. It’s weird because I know better than to roster capped ceilings but I seem to lack that intrepid state of mind. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Frontier Town should sit on my bench until they’re deputized.

The bigger the league the more I think it’s ok to lean into low upside players with more certain production. A bunch of lottery tickets can turn into a bunch of unplayable zeroes and with these short benches, you can’t have too many of those. I hate that I have Kareem Hunt but it seems like he’s at least going to touch the ball 5-8 times a game and that’s better than any other RB on my bench. But I could be totally wrong lol

The hard part I always have with lottery ticket players is knowing when to have them in my starting lineup. Best ball is one thing, but knowing when the big weeks are coming is something I’m never lucky enough to ever hit on.

I think you're actually totally right. It's just that this article was posted to Twitter and it got me both thinking and acting a fool.

Cross-thread hijack:

I started an innocent RIP about Flo from Alice earlier today and next thing I know that great thread is gone. JFC

Anyway, shake your Boutte if you have him. Got him today for free in one of my other leagues.

I think Joe seemed to strongly imply that it needed a temporary end and a pruning but that it would be back. That’s how I took his comment FWIW.

Same- that was my confusion because it seems to still be there but locked. But the less said the better.

How about tomorrow night, Commanders at Packers? Talk about a huge NFC game. If Gteen Bay wins that’s 2-0 with wins over Detroit and Washington. Would put them in a real power position.

Yeah, definitely. I wonder what Parsons is going to do. You know, I rostered him for years in IDP dynasty (I finally traded him last year for Brian Thomas, Jr.) and I knew he was explosive and disruptive but he now seems mythic and the only difference (for me) is the media hubbub. It's actually been really interesting to kind of sense myself being able to genuinely feel a media creation and notice the story that goes along with the athlete. Because even in Dallas and how out of proportion they are with football, Micah Parsons was a excellent defender and player but it started and ended on Sunday once the game was over. Now that Jerry Jones botched the negotiation (and the media loves to bury Jerry—they might deny it, but you totally see these men and women weirdly getting off kicking this guy while he's old and down, and it's not like I've even remotely liked Jerry or feel too badly for him, but I freaking hate the media jackals) it's taken on this larger-than-life quality and Parsons slipping into that gap between the center and guard feels more ominous and like it has this cascading effect that, yeah, I felt before in anticipation of some fantasy points but not like this. It's like a wrecking ball has been swung and you're waiting to see what it takes out along the way.

Should be a wild game.

Jack's Mannequin - Holiday From Real

Another band that was supposed to play at Bonnaroo.

Oh, California in the summer
Ah, and my hair is growing long
**** yeah, we can live like this

But if you left it up to me
Every day would be
A holiday from real
We'd waste our weeks
Beneath the sun
We'd fry our brains
And say it's so much fun out here
But when it's all over
I'll come back for another year

I actually added New England D

The Hotelier - Goodness Pt 2

When the floor was all littered with pictures
Like the flora was drenched in the thaw
I was grasping to stay in the present
But your negatives flipped what I saw
A little bird from the side of sidewalk
Sings me hymnals of comfort in pain
Said “Give me you all disarmed and uncertain
And I promise that I’ll do the same”
And it sounded like something you’d say

----

Love this band, my favourite song by them (Your Deep Rest) feels a bit too depressing tonight even for my emo mix, so we'll go with this one that's more about coming out the other side.

I suppose I’ll post some trade interest. I feel good about my WR depth (particularly with Godwin returning to practice today), but not so hot about my RB depth behind Bijan, though hopeful Judkins and K.Johnson see their roles grow. So, if a RB for WR swap of some sort might interest you, feel free to reach out.

I almost immediately regretted not going RB/RB at the first turn. Reliable RB1s are always a scarcer commodity than WRs especially in a sixteen teamer with only starting receiver slots.

Added Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Steelers

Joey Slye for the Sly Stone connection worked out decently in week 1, as he was my 2nd highest scorer. Let’s stick with Sly for a runnin’ back.

Gotta tell you that even dropping Najee might have been a mistake I'll be hard-pressed to come back from. I'm very comfy with my WRs (actually, they stink) but I think very few of us feel good about RB.

After grabbing your cast-off Najee, I'm pretty happy with my room.
Losing Purdy for however long is my bigger problem. Can't expect another 4 TD game from Rogers with his average of 4.5 air yards per pass.

7.04 Tucker Kraft TE GB
Song: Trans-Europe Express -- Kraftwerk

@Ilov80s up

Yes, sniped
:kicksrock:
So you can see why I did what I did.
I love Tucker Kraft. I'm in four leagues this year and have him or Tyler Warren in all of them. Both seemed pretty great candidates to put up huge years and came just enough cheaper than the Engram/Andrews/Njoku/Hock/Kelce tier that they probably should have been included in (Warren did get pushed up in later drafts but Kraft never really did).

So far this season I have been pretty good with my guesses at RB/TE.

WR not so much.
