I wasn't even aware there were 'hawks fans posting on this board outside of ITS
I don't want to be the center of attention. I would much rather sit back and enjoy the game.

I do tend to rag on ITS. However, I'm starting to notice that he hasn't been as bad lately. Maybe that's because I have him on ignore and only see stuff he posts when it gets quoted.

I don't understand the overconfidence and arrogance out of so many Sea fans.
I don't see that. I see a bunch of Seattle fans that want their team to win. I see a bunch of NE fans that want their team to win. Whatever arrogance you're perceiving is something that you're creating in your own mind. I see the game as a coin flip. Both teams have legitimate reasons why they can be successful.
Maybe I'm projecting a bit and it has more to do with ITS and a couple others and the Seahawks countdown to an undefeated season thread, or the Seahawks just won the SB thread when Dal lost. We shall see.....
The one that wasn't even started by a Seahawks fan? The large majority of fans on this site are level headed and rational, then there are ITS and MadSweeny (who I think is banned). On top of that, you have the trolls that take up the Hawks banner, when they are fans of other teams and they are just trying to get a rise out of other fan bases.
Yeah, as I said, I might have been projecting a bit to much (my bad); lets put the gloves on and have at it :boxing:
No worries, honestly it is understandable that Seahawks fans get a bad rep around here. Most Hawks fans have a chip on their shoulder and we tend to relish the victories. Not all of us are insufferable like ITS, but I understand the perception.

This is the matchup I most wanted to see once the playoffs were seeded. I think the two teams matchup well, and I am fan of a number of players on NE's team. Overall, I don't fear any one player on the Patriots, as much as I fear Belichick's game planning. Hawks will most likely try to take advantage of NE's run defense, and when they do take their shots, I wouldn't be surprised if they are in Browner's direction. I love Browner, but the guy is very susceptible to double moves. The knowledge of tendencies obviously plays both ways in that sense, but I think Browner is a very one dimensional CB, and Hawks WR's will have the upper hand in that matchup. I think both QBs stay away from the #1 CB on both defenses. Seattle has been able to shut down big time TEs before, so I like that matchup for the Hawks. I think we see a lot of Blount and Lynch in this game, and I think that has to favor Seattle at this point.

I think either team has a real shot to win, a real coin flip type of game. Good luck to the Patriots and their fans. Go Hawks.

I don't post in the Shark Pool much, and when I do it's either in Seahawks game threads, prime time game threads, and HOF-related threads. Huge homer factor and lots of emotion about people and their football teams, I leave that alone mostly. I haven't even posted in the Wilson or Harvin thread, but I did get into the Sherman thread. Those threads are a quagmire, filled with trolls. Pass.

Exactly. Just as Seahawks fans have their ITS, so do other fanbases. Lots of other teams' fans have tried to troll the ever loving hell out of Seahawks fans on this site. Most Hawks fans are smart enough to stay away from it, most of the time.

DD is one of the good Hawk fans on these forums...there are a bunch of them actually, but one bad apple can skew opinions of a teams posting fan base...ITS just the way it is ;)

I'm gonna root hard for NE, but no matter who wins, I hope its half as exciting as the NE-BAL game...I'd ask for a finish as exciting and crazy as the SEA-GB game, but we may never see a finish like that again.

May the best team win.

Truth. My best friend is a 49ers fan, so I don't have as much hatred as most Hawks fans do towards your team. I think most intelligent fans can tell the difference between light hearted jabs and outright trolling, but unfortunately the median IQ of the average football fan is pretty low.

One thing from the game yesterday. FOX credited the TD that Cobb caught against Sherman's numbers saying that catch was on him. HTF did they figure that? Cobb came from the other side of the field and was the safety's responsibility IMO. Sherman had Nelson on his side already, and if he'd have left him for Cobb, Rodgers would have just thrown to Nelson.

I was rooting for the Packers, but I have to admit I wanted to play the Seahawks. I like Wilson and Carroll (got a raw deal here), but I can't stand Sherman and I think their def is overrated. However, I'm coming around, after all if the seahawks def is anywhere close to top 5 of all time then Brady playing well against them will be all that much sweeter ;)

Browner is definitely beatable and susceptible to penalties, but the rest of the secondary is probably better than many might think. Not a big Blount fan and you certainly have a big edge between him and Lynch, however you might see a bit more of Vereen and he might help even things out a bit. I don't think it will be easy to "shutdown" Gronk without leaving yourself vulnerable in other areas. The primary key for NE will be containing Lynch as best they can and keeping Wilson in the pocket; certainly easier said than done, but if they can do a decent job on that and Brady plays well they will win. Should be a really good game and it could come down to special teams.

Yeah I know, but people make a big deal about this crap so I point it out. Maybe they changed it, hell if I know.

I just noticed your avatar. I had that very picture hanging up in my room growing up, I'm gonna have to ask my Mom where she put it. Guaranteed they still have it, I come from pack rats. Pretty awesome to see that though.

It really is a shame that ITS is such a gigantic tool because he's probably quite honestly one of the most knowledgeable Seahawks fans in this forum (at least when it comes to the Hawks). Unfortunately this is lost because he chooses to be a tool. Even though he showed a tiny bit of class towards Packers fans last night, he is still a tool with 99.9% of his posts. I honestly think all the other Hawks fans at FBGs are completely fine. Looking at this objectively, I see more tools coming out of the Patriots fanbase (at least in this forum). However, ITS is so much of a tool that this might not be evident. Just my 2 cents.

I've been dreading this game, but for a different reason.

I'm a diehard Pats fan since 1976, but if I ever had a "secondary" pro or college team outside of my usual rooting interests, it is the Seahawks. Two of my good friends are diehard 'Hawks fans who grew up in NE, and the only NFL jersey I've ever owned is a Steve Largent that still hangs in my closet. Loved that guy as a kid as much as my buddy idolized Jim Zorn. My wife and I made it a point to eat at the "12 Club" in Sea-Tac on the way back from our honeymoon. Seattle has become one of her favorite cities, and I have to agree. Been dying to get to a game at Century Link.

It's really weird how little history these teams have had since that 1993 season when they met twice after drafting Bledsoe and Mirer 1-2 overall. The 'Hawks have only been to Foxboro once since then, in 2004. I tailgated that day with one of those buddies, who proudly flew his Seahawks flag from the back of his truck. (Unfortunately, also had a chance to go with that other friend to the Sox game that night, and I declined. That was the Dave Roberts game. )

This will be a strange two weeks. But looking forward to what should be a great game.

Noticed the same thing. Cobb was being covered by Lane on that play. Lane got picked off (I don't think intentionally) by the WR crossing the end zone in the opposite direction. Hence, Cobb was wide open. Sherman was matched up on the WR split wide right.

Yeah I used to have a poster very similar to this, can't remember if it was this exact one. Been rocking this avatar forever here.

It wasn't Lane that was covering Cobb on that play, it was Thomas. Cobb runs the crossing route right across Thomas' face, and as Thomas starts to pursue he gets picked by Richard Rodgers (I think). I guarantee you that is the intentional design of the play, but GB ran it clean and the pick wasn't illegal as Rodgers didn't actually block Thomas as much as get in his way. It was a great design, one that Seattle actually uses quite often.

Sherman had coverage on Nelson, and by the time the ball was actually thrown there was no chance he was going to make it to Cobb until well after the completion. He was probably 5 yards away when the pass is actually completed, so a good 10 yards away when the ball was actually thrown.

Fun fact

1st 3 seasons as a starter:

Brady: 40-12, 2 SB appearances, 75-41 TD-INT, 11591 passing yards

Wilson: 42-13, 2 SB appearances, 82-31 TD-INT, 11523 passing yards

Seahawks only a slight advantage on defense
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Seahawks defense phenomenal at home. Not quite as good away from home without all the noise. Still excellent, but I don't think they are the 85 Bears or 00 Ravens good.
As I said earlier, the Sea D is overrated and they aren't anywhere near as good as the 85 Bears or 00 Ravens. Should be another great SB; NE will move the ball on that D for sure and I'm confident they come out on top.
Green Bay had the best offense in the league by many metrics, including points scored. Having accomplished that they managed one TD and 5 field goals against the Seattle defense when handed starting field position of SEA 19, SEA 23, GB 44, SEA 33, GB 44 in the first half alone. In the second half they only scored 6 points against a Seattle D with two compromised players in the secondary.

I don't know what game you were watching, but the Seattle defense was the only keeping them in the game-against the leagues best offense with the field tilted against them-until Marshawn Lynch could start beasting in the second half.

To further put this into perspective: Russell Wilson (he of the 44.3 passer rating) finished with more passing yards and combined TD's than Aaron Rodgers-the best QB in the game-and he did it playing drunk.

I can't decide who I want to lose more. I can't believe it but I may actually be rooting for the Patriots here...

My apologies. I thought we were having fun in here. Some of us come up for air periodically and miss stuff. ;)
Oh, we are having fun. That's why we're flipping each other crap.

I expect to see you in fine trolling form for the next two weeks, btw
What is this trolling you speak of?

;)
That's awesome. And I think belichick giving precisely no ##### is awesome.

But the Hawks cleaned Peyton's clock, and the Pats can't even handle Eli in the big game.

Patriots beat Denver 42-21 at Denver. Seattle beat them 26-20 at home.

My bad. I was posting about the Patriots having to go to Lambeau earlier and got my wires crossed. And while I'm getting corrected it was actually 43-21. So regardless, the point still holds.

I'm super pumped up about this game. I see this as the only fitting end to our season: go up against the best coach and another future HOF QB and see what happens.

A couple questions for the forum:

If the Patriots win...

If you previously didn't think Brady was the best QB ever would this change your mind?

How about Belichick?

Do Brady or Belichick call it quits?

If the Seahawks win...

If it is a defensive "shutout" would this make you think they are the greatest defense ever?

If it is an offensive win, does this erase any thoughts of Wilson being a game manager?

I think it could be a good game, but Seattle is likely going to struggle to score points. I think New England wins unless Lynch runs wild (& I don't believe that will happen).

If the Patriots win...

If you previously didn't think Brady was the best QB ever would this change your mind? Ehhhh. No way to prove either way. There are a couple guys in the discussion.

How about Belichick? Valid argument to be made, but again, couple guys in the discussion.

Do Brady or Belichick call it quits? Not a chance... esp with Brady's recent deal restructure.

If the Seahawks win...

If it is a defensive "shutout" would this make you think they are the greatest defense ever? Hell no.

If it is an offensive win, does this erase any thoughts of Wilson being a game manager? No.

I'm talking super bowls, boss. Congrats on the regular season wins this season I guess?

BOO!
Oh Super Bowls! Those games where Peyton, on those rare occasions he has gotten by the Patriots and their ownership of him in the playoffs, has a losing record and consistently played well-below his regular season levels! D'OH!

Or, put another way ;)

1. Yes, GB with a healthy NFL MVP caliber type year from A. Rodgers did manage to nudge ahead of NE for most points scored, in the last week of the season, when NE throttled down for a meaningless game and GB went full throttle in a must win game.

2. Rodgers wasn't healthy, if he were Sea would have had no chance to win that game (not the way the Sea O played that day).

3. I promise you NE isn't going to settle for FGs from the GL; they will either punch it in or give u the ball back going for the TD.

4. GB played too passively on O in the 2nd half and should have been more aggressive; I don't see NE making that mistake.

5. I watched the same game you did (most of it anyway) and yes Sea's def kept them in the game against one of the best offense's in the league whos QB was unfortunately playing on 1 leg and had a HC and team who took their foot off the pedal and made unforced monumental mistake after another to gift the seahawks the win. 6. When Sea needed to stop Rodgers at the end of the game he went through them like a hot knife through butter.

7. Yes, your QB playing at home had a horrific day playing against another QB who was playing on 1 leg and he was lucky enough that his team recovered an onside kick which enabled them to steal the game.

It's all good, can't wait for this game to get here :boxing:

7. Yes, your QB playing at home had a horrific day playing against another QB who was playing on 1 leg and he was lucky enough that his team recovered an onside kick which enabled them to steal the game.

It's all good, can't wait for this game to get here :boxing:
You're already in excuse making/conjecture mode. Best of luck, sounds like you think you'll need it.

I don't know what you mean by my QB. Do you have a lease (WAOTB) on Brady?

ETA: Belichick is singing the Seattle QB's praises
