Sorry NE but the beat down is coming your teams way. Go back and read through the Super Bowl 48 thread leading up to that game last year. You sound a lot like those Denver fans who claimed Seattle couldn't stop the most prolific offense in the history of the NFL. 8 points was not very prolific.

While it's true that the Hawks will make Gronk look like he's not good he is an elite TE.

Hawks will game plan differently for Gronk just like they did for Graham last year. Graham had 4 catches and either 50 or 60 yards (can't remember) over the course of 2 games.

wow awesome post my friend... My thinking is the exact same.. I have been saying for a while now that this reeks eerily similar to last years sb... Who was hotter then Denver Broncos??????? So far, just seeing a bunch of NE fans getting in the weeds about deflate gate instead of discussing how they this game will go. Also, talking about the Hawks cheating? Let's discuss the game man, I made a post above about how I think the game would go and why, let's hear the NE fans chime in. The stuff about the cheating is not only unfounded but really just sort of a deflection from talking about the game and why you think it will go the way you do. I have listed mine and I believe this will be a blow out in the Hawks favor. I called the blow out last year over Denver too and was laughed at by all the Denver fans leading up to the game.

My guess is the Pats will looks to establish the run by using Cameron Fleming as a TE. If they can have success with the run it sets up Brady for play action. I also think you will see Tim Wright play more than he has with the thought he will have a favorable matchup since Gronk will be drawing a lot of attention. When they pass, expect a lot of quick slants and bubble screens.

On defense, I think the Pats sell out to stop the run and make Wilson beat them from the pocket. I think their LB play will be key.

Thanks Baloney. I appreciate your opinion. I bolded the parts of your that I really hope happens. The Hawks kill the bubble screen. Ask Denver about that. Also, Wilson can do damage in the pocket, I know it didn't look like it last week, but us Hawk fans have seen a Russell do what he did FROM THE POCKET in that last drive vs. the Pack an awful lot over the last 3 years, including his game winning pass against the Pats two years ago (from the pocket). As far as a running game for the Pats, I don't see them getting more than 60 yards. That will be the first priority for the Hawks, shutting down the run and making the Pats one dimensional. When Seattle makes a team one dimensional, it will be a long night.

Off the top of my head, conservative playcalling hurt the Packers more than anything else. Belichick is a much better game-day coach than McCarthy. Also, Rodgers was very gimpy on that leg.The Patriots are every bit as good a second-half defense as the Hawks in terms of points scored. They are built to win a low scoring game more so than in past years. Note that i am not saying that the pats defense is better or even equal to the hawks in general, particularly vs. the run, but they do stiffin up in the second half of games.

Edelman to me will have a bigger impact than Gronk. If he gets rolling and can't be single covered, he can do some damage.

In the end, i think the offensive line is they key to the game. If the Hawks dont get pressure, I think they will lose. If they get pressure, and Lynch does what he does on offense, they should win.

I like Wilson as a QB and if the Pats limit him to less than 30 yard rushing and he beats them from the pocket than it will be well deserved. I think the Pats feel comfortable that Revis will shut down anyone he covers and really none of Seattle's WRs strike much fear in them. Obviously, I think the key for the Pats is to get an early lead. That puts a lot of pressure on Seattle which we saw in the GB game. Kudos to them for a miracle comeback albeit aided by some questionable GB decisions.

Also, Wilson can do damage in the pocket, I know it didn't look like it last week, but us Hawk fans have seen a Russell do what he did FROM THE POCKET in that last drive vs. the Pack an awful lot over the last 3 years, including his game winning pass against the Pats two years ago (from the pocket). As far as a running game for the Pats, I don't see them getting more than 60 yards. That will be the first priority for the Hawks, shutting down the run and making the Pats one dimensional. When Seattle makes a team one dimensional, it will be a long night.

I don't expect the pats to run all over seattle like they're playing indy, but I don't think it'll be such a negative proposition as it was against balt, either.

I think they'll run plenty well enough to establish play action, and if they end up with some lower end total it'll just be because they do damage through the air and stick mostly with that.

This game will be a lot like last year I am afraid. That was one boring game, even for Seahawks fans.

I haven't even addressed Beast Mode and what he will do to the NE defense. Beast Mode >>>>>>>>> Justin Forsett, right? Right?

Off the top of my head, conservative playcalling hurt the Packers more than anything else. Belichick is a much better game-day coach than McCarthy. Also, Rodgers was very gimpy on that leg.The Patriots are every bit as good a second-half defense as the Hawks in terms of points scored. They are built to win a low scoring game more so than in past years. Note that i am not saying that the pats defense is better or even equal to the hawks in general, particularly vs. the run, but they do stiffin up in the second half of games.

Edelman to me will have a bigger impact than Gronk. If he gets rolling and can't be single covered, he can do some damage.

In the end, i think the offensive line is they key to the game. If the Hawks dont get pressure, I think they will lose. If they get pressure, and Lynch does what he does on offense, they should win.

Pats wouldn't have to be better than the Pack. They'd just have to put living football players out there on special teams.

My guess is the Pats will looks to establish the run by using Cameron Fleming as a TE. If they can have success with the run it sets up Brady for play action. I also think you will see Tim Wright play more than he has with the thought he will have a favorable matchup since Gronk will be drawing a lot of attention. When they pass, expect a lot of quick slants and bubble screens.

Just wanted to address this part separate (and I don't think I'm removing any context, but apologies if I did).

Lots of teams come into games against us saying the same thing: stop Lynch and you stop the Seattle offense. To a point, you're absolutely correct and we've seen it happen a number of times. The problem tends to come with not stopping him the first 5, 10, and sometimes 15 times. It's what happens in the 4th quarter where he somehow gets stronger. Now look, I'm not directly saying this is due to better conditioning or some magic Seattle has or if this will be the case. But if the Patriots are going this route they will need to be exceptionally consistent. (There are a lot of folks who think GB bottled up Lynch and they are very wrong. If it weren't for those early turnovers--of which the first two were more anomaly than bad offense/great defense--I think the GB game could have been a blowout.)

Also, the Seattle offense scored a safety, back-to-back FGs, a Lynch TD, a pick-6, a kickoff return, a Kearse TD, and a Baldwin TD. That means the offense scored 27, the defense scored 9 (if you associate the XP with the TD), and ST scored 7. The offense did get one short field TD (37 yards) on the first Manning INT, but the FGs and other TDs were drives of 51 yards, 58 yards, 58 yards, and 48 yards.

well, as I prefaced my post, I think we'll handle that running game better than most people think we will.

when you see the pats struggle with a running attack it's really mostly scheme and execution that's giving them problems, rather than just having their personnel run over like an indy team, or like that pats tema that played balt in '09(?) with lineman off the street --- oh, or right after wilfork went down last year.

a healthy pats team might struggle with the ferocious tebow attack for a half, but they adjust and shut that #### down after that.

they might struggle with outside contain on a guy like charles, but in later games get it corrected.

they might struggle with kubiak's cut blocking zBS, but later in the game execute better.

so, I don't think lynch will be bulling his way through our front 7 all day like seattle fans are maybe accustomed to.

the big pass plays are certainly always a danger with wilson, but we aren't rolling out that trash secondary we had a couple years ago.

this is probably the deepest and healthiest the pats have been since '07, and I still think most people are sleeping on them.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't like Seattle can't be shut down, it has happened before. GB did a very good job, helped out by some uncharacteristic turnovers. Seattle's game plan is always to outlast the other team and finish in the 4th. A lot of teams have good success shutting down Seattle for 2-3 quarters, only to have Seattle wear them out and start racking up yards in the 4th. Seattle's defense keeps them in the game, allowing any struggles on the offense to usually work themselves out.

Similar to NE, Seattle is great at adjustments and setting up plays. They will show you one look all game long, only to counter it when a team gets lazy defending. As shown by the stats in the above link, NE isn't as stout at stopping those explosive plays as some of their fans are letting on.

It is going to be a great game, and one that I think will be very close.

oh, and I'd like to add, while I'm not really concerned about lynch, and bear in mind I've heard all these running threats from our opponents fans for years, another thing that could be an issue besides pass rush is containing wilson.

I think the pats are generally pretty smart and disciplined about that, but the execution can always break down on a few key third downs, so I'd rate wilson's legs as the bigger threat than lynch's.

Tough one to answer, in a way. The Pats Oline was in rough shape to start the season. They got beaten regularly in the opening game against MIA in a loss, but weren't much better in the next 2 games, both W. MIA was winning with speed rush on the edge. I didn't see the KC game, but from all reports it was ugly all the way around.

By week 5, the O line had solidified and started to play better. The only regular season loss from that point was the 26-21 game in Lambeau ( discounting the week 17 game where Brady played a half, Gronk/Edelmen/Vereen sat out,etc ) In that game, they gave up one sack, in the 4th. I don't recall a ton of pressure during the game, but it wasn't a case of having all day, either. Brady was decent that day, but was missing some guys.

The other game where there was a lot of pressure was the Ravens game. He responded well in that game, obviously. Specifically in the second half, they shifted to a quick short passing attack that was more timing based than usual. I remember seeing balls getting on receivers so fast they were effectively indefensible. I see this as their best chance of attacking the SEA defense. I disagree we'll see lots of bubble screens ( at least I hope we don't ). That plays into the "legion of boom" perfectly. I expect we'll see a lot of what we saw with BAL, bunched receivers with schemed route combinations to create some openings, probably in crossing routes.

Negate the pass rush with quick hits underneath.
