Super Bowl LVI - Bengals vs Rams - Discussion & GAME Thread (1 Viewer)

My early thoughts are that the Rams pass rush, which is far more scary than either KC's or Tennessee's, will get to Burrow early and often, and the Rams win by 10.

Feeling good about my Bengals chances but if we cannot make it happen at least Whit would get his.

WHO DEY!!!

-QG

haven't looked at early lines....I would guess Rams -1.5 / 48 total.

Edit: I'm seeing Rams -4 / 49.5 total.

This comes down to the line of scrimmage.

Both teams have great QB’s, WR’s and Solid RB’s.

OL? Rams

DL? Rams

That is where the game will be won or lost. And the Rams have a big edge in the trenches. And it will show.

Rams 31

Bengals 16

I thought KC would get to Joe more and Cincy would struggle more on offence. Still, if you told me before the game the Bengals would have 24 pts in regulation I would have thought it was a KC win.
On paper it looks like the Rams should get even more pressure.  But it feels like Cincinnati’s year.

I feel like I am spacing out on something obvious. but is this the first Super Bowl where both starting QBs were drafted at number 1 in the NFL draft?

Cincy just seems to get it done, still not sure wtf happened to KC in the second half as they all got a collective case of the tight asses.

Bengal Defense just seems like they should get smoked.

Im taking Rams minus 4 and the over.

But Id be fine if Cincy gets the win.

I completely agree with this. This is where Donald, Miller and company light it up. I’m still worried about Williams getting lit up by Higgins or whomever he’s trying to guard. Weak link

QBs who were overall #1 draft picks and won the Super Bowl:

Terry Bradshaw (1970) – Won Super Bowl IX, X, XIII, XIV

Jim Plunkett (1971) – Won Super Bowl XV, XVIII

John Elway (1983) – Won Super Bowl XXXII, XXXIII

Troy Aikman (1989) – Won Super Bowl XXVII, XXVIII, XXX

Drew Bledsoe (1993) – Won Super Bowl XXXVI (backup)

Peyton Manning (1998) – Won Super Bowl XLI, 50

David Carr (2002) – Won Super Bowl XLVI (backup)

Eli Manning (2004) – Won Super Bowl XLII, XLVI

Should be a good one. I’m rooting for the “more than a field goal” (cue Boston) Bengals. Really just hoping for a great game.

Guaranteed one this year. Wild.

I hope they let them play like they did today.  LOVE seeing less ticky tack penalties.

If so, under 49 easy.  But who knows.

Ramsey on chase will be interesting if Ramsey can get into the rookies head (highly likely)

donald vs the not so great pass blocking line is scary. So is von Miller. Key to victory for Cincy is mixon and play action game, intermediate shots. Bengals have bend but don’t break defense but the rams running game has been stuck in mud.

I’m guessing rams 24 Cincy 20 but bengals seem like the team of destiny this year.

think the rams have more alphas in this matchup and that is what will be the difference

plus they are home. That’s also cool

I hope the Bengals can pull this off.  Roger got his pet project to a super bowl so he's thrilled. The Rams feel soulless and corporate.

Its obvious that Rams D line >> Cinci O line....but is it really true that Rams O line > Cinci D line?  I don't monitor DVOA blah blah blah but my eyeballs say that both D lines have an edge.

For once, I dont really care who wins the SB...I'm rooting for Stafford to get a ring, but if Burrow spoils the Rams' party I won't be upset.

Hoping for a close game. Go teams!

Cue Boston 🎶 “more than a field goooaaal (more than a field goal), I’m betting the team that gets..more than a field goal…” 🎵

Love me some Bengals +4

Super Bowls always seem to be close. Bengals & Rams are both very complete teams on both sides of the ball. All the talk before the KC game was about Titans 9 sacks & that Burrow would be  pummeled. That didn’t happen. His uni stayed clean all game.

I really like Stafford. I really like Burrow, Higgins, Mixon & a host of Bengals defensive players. So I’m rooting for a 3 point game.

Sing it with me now 🎶 more than a field goooaaal….”

Bengals DL is a lot better than people think.  DJ Reeder has been awesome and both DE’s have been on fire.

No School Monday February 14. Thank you CPS!

In honor of the Bengal’s first Super Bowl appearance since 1988, CPS will not have school on Monday, February 14! Staff and students will have the day off to celebrate what we believe will be our city’s first-ever Super Bowl victory! #WhoDey

This is very logical, but I hope its not correct. I think most of America is going to be cheering for Joe...although I have nothing against the Rams.

As a Raiders fan, I should definitely be rooting against the owner that blocked the NFL-committee- approved move back to LA. But that seems like ancient history now and I’m happy with the Raiders being in Vegas. Seems like a good fit after all is said and done.

I just hope to see a great game. The Bengals have had a great run and hey…..any given Sunday.

My expectations, along the way ...

Going into Raiders@Bengals in Wild Card round:

Moneyline says around 65-70%. Very confident. We have to finally win a playoff game here. It has to happen. If we can't do it here, that would be a huge letdown.

Going into Bengals@Titans in Divisional Round

Moneyline says around 36% shot. Not great. Hopeful. I feel optimistically 50-50. Shrug. Happy to just be here.

Going into Bengals@Chiefs in AFCCG:

Moneyline says 24%. This is pretty likely the end of the road, but it's been great. Have hope but extremely anxious and just don't feel good at all about it.

Going into Bengals-Rams Super Bowl:

We have already won in my head.

Have to give the Bengals defense some love, they've played a lot bigger part then they're getting credit for. Rams can't run the ball lately either so this looks like a close game.

I'd really like the see the Bengals win but growing up watching the Lions, it'd be pretty great to see Stafford win one. After watching Calvin and Barry retire just so they didn't have to play for such a terrible franchise it would seem like some justice.

Rams got a bit lucky vs. SF and against TB ,late, in both games. at some point that luck runs out. Also, how will they handle being the 'away' team in their own stadium? AFC is home team this year.and I'm still waiting for the Belle of the Ball, Matthew Stafford, to have a major slip up and revert to the 'wrong time for an INT' guy that we've come to know and love. As Aikman asked the other day ' is there anything wrong with Stafford's arm this is yet another throw where he looks to have lost his fastball' or words to that effect, when talking about the dropped int by the SF defender late in the game. There was no Rams player anywhere near that ball. I don't trust Stafford. Bengals can stop the run, and Mixon can move the pile on the offensive side. If Tenn couldn't beat them with 9 sacks of Burrow, no one can. Rams sacked Jimmy G how many times? Once. Last time McVay got to the SB we thought they'd be the winners vs. NE, but McVay slept his way through that game, they had a very  bad gameplan and BB just beat them down. I think McVay gets too cutsie here, once again flames out in the SB..Bengals are going to stay the course play their game. I dont think the Rams can keep up if Bengals get up early.

Agree with thoughts that The Rams have an edge in the trenches. Von Miller on defense and OBJ on offense have both played much better recently. Rams didn't seem to miss a beat when Higbee went down, back up played very well. Burrow is an ice man, nothing bothers him. Ramsey might get into Chase's head a bit. Mixon is the best running back in this game but Rams still have a decent ground game. Both defenses can make plays. Bengals are home team in The Rams stadium. Rams went "all in" this year to win THIS game. I think they were sporatic at times during the season and playoffs in part to having that pressure. I think they play their best game of the season here. No analytics, just an opinion. I think Matthew Stafford hoists The Lombardi and Super Bowl MVP trophies. Just my 2 cents.....

 Los Angeles Rams- 34

Cincinnati Bengals- 20
