Im just saying it was weird. 5 seconds left you throw the pass quick into the end zone and if incomplete your kick the FG. You don’t throw it to the RB’s wrong shoulder/behind him. The RB could have easily cut back inside. 

The sack/fumble play - there were 5 people WIIIIIIIIDE open.

Its just something to keep an eye on for me.

I laughed and felt like you did my whole life- until this year. Also, There have been several players to come out over the years and say something.

I just chalk it up as human beings making mistakes from time to time.  Mahomes is a great player and I’m sure 9 out of 10 times he gets a TD on that play.  Just happened to be the one time.   :shrug:     I don’t see the controversy.

Billionaires paying millionaires, but somehow it's being affected by Vegas?

You know who Vegas is? A couple massive corporations. They have more absurd human resources red tape than Marriott. There isn't a mobster with any juice within 5 miles and 40 years of Vegas. 

The bookmaking side of Vegas is peanuts.

I am in total agreement with you. I’m just saying that for me- something is weird with the end of some of these games and it’s more than fatigue.

Maybe I should say that I don’t think the games are out right fixed, maybe just massaged a little bit here and there.

I would also take all those guys over Darnold, Donald on the other hand...

I can see an argument for the 2 Dallas guys, though I think Donald is probably even with them right now, so anything he adds pushes him past. I think he's ahead of Page and Greene, and Sapp isn't even in the conversation. I think its arguable that Sapp isn't a top-10 DT.

I think Deion's legend is actually better than his game was, which was all-time great don't get me wrong, but he didn't shut down half the field, nobody ever has. He typically shut down 1 guy, and while the returns were a nice addition he was also a liability as a run defender. Truthfully, I don't think he was the best CB of his era, that honor goes to Rod Woodson(in my opinion) but I used him to illustrate my point about Donald.

I'm sorry.  I feel like I baited you into sharing this and it's not gotten a favorable response.  But I understand what you mean.

 
Think this game is seriously overrated. It was fine- had some solid plays, but a lot of the game was just clock killing inefficient #### or joe burrow just taking so many sacks. Clock burned so fast in this game. No penalties were nice, but both teams benefitted. I seriously have no idea how burrow takes like 20 sacks in 3 games. He won’t last.

overall, just meh drama and action. Other playoff games were so superior to this

Yes, I saw that, too.

I also went back and rewatched the obvious PI on the pass to Henderson that preceded the holding call. Henderson clearly was interfered with while the ball was in the air - no flag there.

So when the iffy holding call came in, I figured OK, it's even.

Pretty much.  In the second half, they really played scared on offense.  A lot of that was caused by the Rams DL taking over.  Kupp was the MVP, but Donald was just as deserving.

Aside from the obvious missed face mask I thought the officiating  was okay.
 

It wasn’t perfect but I don’t think the refs were incompetent.

In the end the Rams made a few more plays than the Bengals and deserved to win.

This was what I was saying. The non-call OPI was awful. But Rams had 30 minutes and what, 7 or 8 drives to find 4 points to make up for it.

Doing that at the end is crap cause it's just the refs going, here ya go Cincy. You get 1 2-minute drive to get down the field. Good luck.

Those things are not close to equal.

Apparently that's exactly what the NFL does.

From Bill Barnwell on ESPN:

"Like a strike zone in baseball, players generally seem to be comfortable with games being called loosely or tightly by the refs, as long as they can get a sense of what that is early in the game and adjust accordingly. In this case, in a game in which the refs seemed comfortable with players grabbing and tugging in coverage, Wilson was flagged for something that I'm sure other defenders on both sidelines did earlier in the game without a penalty. (Of course, the Bengals have also benefited from some questionable missed calls throughout their run, most notably against the Chiefs in the regular season.)

This is the second time in two seasons that we've seen officials let things go to a dramatic degree before cracking down with the game on the line. Last time around, it was in the 2020 NFC Championship Game, where the Buccaneers and Packers basically played out a Mutant League Football game for 58 minutes. In the final two minutes, though, Kevin King was called for a defensive pass interference penalty on third down, extending Tampa Bay's final drive and eventually allowing it to run out the clock.

We now have two data points from two different referees suggesting that the league might allow teams to go all-out for the first 58 minutes before encouraging referees to crack down in the final two minutes of games. When coaches are instructing their players in next year's conference title games and Super Bowl to play more aggressively than they would in a typical contest, they might also need to tell their defensive backs and linemen to get back to normal after the two-minute warning in the second half."

Last 2 minutes you should just be able to grab, hold, drag guys as much as necessary, IMO.  Otherwise the refs are deciding the game.

He was 3rd in the league in rushing yards, had 13 rushing tds,  over 40 receptions and 3 receiving td’s this past season.  On the biggest game of the year—they are going to bench the dude that averaged nearly 5 yards a carry in the game for two of the biggest plays of the game?   I said it earlier in the thread—unless Mixon was hurt—putting Perine in at that point in the game was a horrid decision. I’m not using hindsight either. As I was watching the game—I was wondering where the heck Mixon was at that time. 

 
brohans i want to speak directly to the players and coaches of both teams and tell them good job so joe burrow you were great so were you aaron mcdonalds and also all the fans you were great in the stands and really made the half time show great with your cheering for snoop and m and m so bam another great superbowl lets do this again next year take that to the bank bromigos 

 
Amazing at how every play does count.  I thought Cinci`s short yardage play calling was horrible.

The first fourth and 1 and late in the game the third down. On third and 1 if there were going to run would have like to seen a quick toss to Mixon away from Donalds side.  Let Mixon make someone miss or he can bull a guy forward for a yard.

The PI in the endzone late in the game was a blessing for the Rams as Stafford pass was behind the WR.  It was a PI though.

The fourth down when Kupp ran it, Cinci could have had him for a 2-3 yard loss but it did not happen.

I have to believe both Burrow and Stafford are limping today. How stafford did not break his ankle is hard to believe, and would not be surprised if Burrow has something torn in his knee.

It was a close game but watching it did not seem like a good game.  Pretty ragged at times.

Rams holder was probably as happy as Stafford when game ended.

I think the vast majority of us believe this, so it'd be interesting to know why Taylor has him in there. It could be compensating for his poor OL by getting another big blocking body in there.

Even with that—seemed to me that Cinci under utilized Mixon in general the entire game.  Basically—I  felt as if positive things were happening or about to happen every time they gave Mixon the ball—and it just seemed like they would forget about him for stretches.

Mixon had twenty-one touches yesterday. That's a lot. Burrow had thirty-three dropbacks. That sounds about right, actually. 

 
But I agree with you about first-guessing Perine. I think all of us did and have this year. I first-guessed it because I thought Chris Evans, if anybody, should be the third down back, and if not him, then Mixon fairly easily.

Definitely.

Especially when you played a flawless game otherwise, not marred by lousy short yardage execution or historic sacks allowed. 

The refs were clearly on the side of the Rams, I mean, except for that obvious missed OPI that resulted in a 75 yard score. I mean, aside from that.

True but Ramsey got away with a hold on third down at goal line in first quarter.  Instead of first and goal at the 1 Cinci had to kick a FG.

They were consistent up until that last drive. That’s the issue. BOTH OT’s false start and they let it fly only to call a hold that didn’t exist.  I don’t know if that’s “on the side of the Rams” but it wasn’t consistent with the entire game. 

The refs also know when someone takes a shot to the head and stays down, they HAVE to exit the field. 

 
How I feel about the refs. I was rooting for the Bengals and after sleeping on it, I see how much I was rooting for the Bengals.

I'm glad I wasn't heavily emotionally invested in either team. Games with my own team are 100 times more stressful. But when you have a team your rooting for it makes it hard to be objective. 

After sleeping on it, I think that the reffing worked out about fair. That Higgins missed OPI was atrocious. 

If Cincy had hung on, I think LAR would have looked in the mirror and realized they screwed the pooch with the lack of Kupp usage for most of the game. 

As it stands, if I bled orange and black, I'd be much more upset with my own team than the refs. Quite a few bad play calls and missed execution. I feel like they had the talent on O to do much more than they did. That D was stout and did a great job. I don't know their cap situation but hope for their sake they can run it back on D, improve their OLine and be a good team for a while. Chase needed to touch the ball 4-5 more times than he did.

No idea on Rams free agents for this season but Mcvay, Stafford, Donald should be meeting soon to discuss one more run for the SB - before they all jump ship because they got no picks left.

I could very well argue that Mixon was the best player on the field yesterday for the Bengals.  Higgins and Burrow had inflated stat lines due to a 75 yard td score that was clearly a result of a missed penalty.  I am from so Cali and was rooting for the Rams to win—and I can tell you that as a Rams fan—that I think the result of the game could very well be different if Cinci gave Mixon more than 15 rush attempts.Being that we cant go back in time—but the bengals got turnovers, they were more successful than the Rams in establishing the rushing game—feels like they should have taken better advantages of those dynamics. Great game nonetheless.
