Super Bowl Party: Ideas for Games, Activities, Etc (1 Viewer)

Having our 4th annual Super Bowl party, just looking for some more ideas of fun stuff people do for the big game.

We got food pretty much covered; pulled pork in the crock pot, tomato pies, buffalo chicken dip, etc.

I usually do a pool for everyone in attendance, just a 20-question yes/no dealing with the SB prop bets (first team to score, coin flip, etc)

Since I was a little kid I've spent most of Super Bowl Saturday/Sunday watching the NFL Films Super Bowl recap shows, they used to show them on ESPN all day leading up to the game. Always gets me in the mood

Would love some more fun stuff to do on game day! Thanks for any ideas!

The last couple of years we have done something really unique to SuperBowls. We get four couples....the wifes go out for a nice dinner at an empty restaurant and drink some wine. While the four guys drink some beers and really focus and actually watch the game without distractions.

When we used to have 20+ people over I was always worried about the food, booze, pools, that I missed half the game.

Where do you live? Maybe have a name writing contest in the snow if you are in a colder climate.

This started off with so much potential.

Do you guys do squares? That always seem like a good bet because it takes zero talent and anybody can win.

Otherwise, you know, watch the game and the commercials and stuff.

We have friends that have a huge party and do this game that everyone seems to enjoy:

Everyone gets a bead necklace when they come in. Once the game starts, there is a list of words put up for the 1st quarter that are forbidden words. If you say one of them and someone catches you, you have to give them whatever beads you have. More words are then added for each quarter. Whoever has the most beads at the end of the game wins a prize.

They also hand out monopoly money to everyone and you bet with other people throughout the night on whatever you want to bet on. Prize goes to person with most money at end of game.

Thanks!

I like the monopoly money one a lot, could get pretty fun if you really get into the prop bets and whatnot.

Who wants to bet me they can drink a gallon of milk in a half hour?!?

Dude, what you do is take a four letter word. Then whatever that word ends with, you make the next word out of it. For example, a pole becomes easy. Then easy becomes yeah. Then yeah becomes hair. It's all so rock. Kick ### is what I say. Yeah, have fun at your game.

Love,

Rock

Right there with you...

The game is like 4 or 5 hours long. You actually have people show up early to a 5 hour party, early enough to get bored before the game starts?

This is more for during the game, but yeah people come early and stay late.

Thanks for the input though!

Yeah....i just watch the game...

Maybe it's just me being an antisocial jerk, but I don't think I could watch an important sporting event with anyone who needs silly games to get through it

Super Bowl parties are a double-edged sword for sure.

Lots of fun, except you miss out on a lot of the game with so much going on.

I figure if I have the party at my place, worst comes to worst I can go in my room and shut the door to watch if need be.

A buddy had been hounding me all fall about his "epic superbowl bash" 2 years ago... I finally cave and go. I bring mutiple squares boards and kick off a 25c pool (for the ladies) and a $1 pool. Had a $5 pool but the crowd was thin so I held off, thankfully.

Crowd was thin and 25% kids running around. I give buddy the wary eye as two kids slam into me, screaming, while we were talking, He assures me lots more folks are coming, and the kids were all going upstairs. OKay...

Grabbed chairs for the GF and I and watch pregame, occasionally getting up to grab a beer and BS with folks for a minute, then went back to my seat. Game kicks off and the crowd is still thin. Boards are only 50% sold off, not a gambling crowd... and kids are still running around screaming. I get up at the end of the 1st quarter for a beer and come back to some 8yo girl sitting in my seat glaring at me like "haha I got your seat". I look at buddy and he shrugs. The parents are nowhere to be found.

Stood there for a couple mins drinking my beer and watching Seattle anally violate the Broncos. More kids bump into my legs. Can't hear the announcers over the din. I kill my beer, pack up my #### and GF and I roll home. Left the boards for him to deal with.. told him to text me if my squares hit.

Haven't been to another "epic bash" at his house since.

This year hitting a "ADULTS ONLY" gathering at a buddies house (mead hall room off the main living space). About 20-25 folks but all the guys are into the game. All the girls who arent go inside and play games. Works out nicely.

F trying to watch a big game with little rug rats around.

Rather than monopoly money use poker chips. Have each one be worth $1. Everyone buy $10 or $20 worth. Bet on whatever you want (next play will be an incomplete pass, etc) anyone can take the bet. Loser throws poker chip at winner. At the end settle up based on the chips you have.
