Survivor Season 42: Starts Wednesday March 9, 2022 (2 Viewers)

I think that you would still need a social game on Extinction Island though. After all, these are going to be the jurors that will be voting for the million dollar winner. You get the unique chance to schmooze these people with the "I was disrespected and blindsided just like you" approach. Usually the final three have to try to convince  those who they back-stabbed to vote for them. It seems like that would be easier if you can have a conversation with them instead of only having them listen to your comments at tribal councils.

did my recording miss anything?  it started right at the challenge.  No "Previously on", no Survivor intro, just right into the challenge.  The recording looks to have ended at the normal hour mark and the show went right to the end of the recording....

  Wendy and Keith for not sticking it out. I know it's easy to say from the armchair but to get that far and then get ANOTHER chance to get back in only to walk away  :loco:
I love how the show handled it, though.  No fanfare. No spending time with them agonizing over the decision. Just the sail being raised, a quick quote from them, and see ya. No mention again, even when Jeff introduced the others as the jury during TC.

Finally a smart group that realizes.. When you have a chance to take out a strong player, aka Joe, you take them out!

Biggest vote reveal shock was that wardog voted David... :oldunsure:
I agree because its after the merge.  Prior to the merge there is no reason to vote out a strong player because it damages your chances at team immunity.  Prior to the merge team immunity is the most important thing you should be voting for if you have to go to tribal council.  Having a strong team and never going to tribal is the best way to stay in the game.  Teams that vote out their strongest members three days into the game are doing themselves a huge disservice and putting them at a disadvantage.

After the merge it's a different story and getting out strong players that are likely to win immunity should be a priority.

I didn’t like the move yet. There’s still 12 people and the 6 that voted off Joe have identified themselves and did it when they don’t have an advantage. Also, they don’t realize the other 6 have 3 idols, but since they have none they should be assuming someone does. I would have still gone Kelly and gone Joe first opportunity when as 6 you control your own destiny. Joe has such a bad social game that keeping him tucked away for a few votes wouldn’t have been hard and in short order you have numbers enough to flush idols too.

I don't have issue with that strategy.  My main point was that you should never start talking voting out strong players until after the merge.  The comment I originally quoted was stating finally a group was smart and voted out strong player when you have a chance.  I was trying to make the delineation that if it's after the merge fine but don't do it prior to the merge because it hurts your chances of continuing much more.

The funny thing is if you read the Q&A she had over at EW.com, she insists she didn't actually quit.

Well, that was fun... Getting all but 3 to flip on Eric was impressive.

So Komma is now split 3/3.

Which means Kelly, Lauren, David and Wardog are potentially in the driver's seat.  Throw in two idols, solid personalities, and some good game play to date and I think one of the first three may actually be favored to win this thing now.

ETA:  Lauren passing out before she'd willingly step down is GOAT stuff.  In it to ####### win it.

That was strange.  I'm not sure I've ever said out loud "I'm dizzy" when I'm feeling dizzy.  And then the "editing" to make the screen blurry when she said she's blacking out.  Don't know just seem to be over dramatized...I think it would've been more impactful if they just showed her from a distance falling over

I'm thinking Wentworth and Lauren are going to last awhile. I could Wentworth losing to the returning player.

I can't believe they would let her fall from that height after she was clearly announcing she was about to pass out.  If you keep your knees locked too long, that can happen, not to mention she has had nothing to eat in almost 3 weeks.  That could have been really bad.

There is a blindside every week anymore, but that was a nice classic blindside.  The edit omitted Wentworth and Lauren getting assurance that the others were turning on Eric.

As much as wardog is a big zero at challenges, it was impressive of him to finally find someone he could convince to vote with him to turn things.  His best moment so far.  And David's comments about being a pilot or passenger and everyone having a blank piece of paper may have sealed the deal.

Devens' face at TC was classic.  All episode "screw you guys, I'm not voting with you anymore. You voted me off your little group, I'm on the winning side now, so suck on that, HA!" ....  after tribal... "Uh, hey guys, I was just funnin'... glad the group is back together.  Guys?"

Interesting to see where this leads now.  Based on previews the next TC is going to be good.

Lauren is one tough lady, didn't even put her arms out to brace herself so she wouldn't lose the challenge. The look on her face when they lost the reward challenge  :( girl needs to feed the machine. I think Victoria is a really strong player, has all aspects of the game covered. Despite the loss her focus at the immunity challenge was $. Awesome to see the woman really killing it at challenges  this is a really strong group of ladies.

:goodposting:   When they didn't play their idols, my wife and I both thought ..IDIOTS!!.. Then after the votes were read it was pretty clear the editors played all of us...

Had to be a lot of behind the scenes talking that went on that got that group, including Devin, to vote Eric.
Devins didn't vote Eric.  He voted Lauren.  The 2 Lauren votes were Julie and Rick (Devins).  The 2 Kelly votes were Ron and Eric.  Everyone else voted Eric.

The bolded isn't true.  She ate at the merge meal.

Wouldn't mind seeing Vic win.  She is amazing and a smart, cold blooded player.
She looks like an annoying hipster do I think she’s easy to overlook.

But she understands it’s a game, doesn’t care if you get pissy when she lies to your face seeing as it’s a game an all.

Those skinny waifs are always good at the standing on uncomfortable thing challenges they do towards the end.

Liked that David didn't just hand over  his piece of the idol. Wentworth and Lauren,  David and Devens are the only pairs edit we are getting.

I was camping with my Dad a couple years ago. The morning after a big hike we were having coffee and he just tipped over. Was out for like 30 seconds just like the woman last night. Super scary. He woke up and was like it never happened.

Rick voted with the other 3, Kelly and Lauren has two votes each. It was the 3 younger Kama folks, Aurora and 4 Lesu voting for Eric.

There was 100% more talking than we saw but that made it a surprise. They even threw in the too early talk from Victoria, which I would think she staged as well to keep folks in the dark.

It’s a free for all right now. 2 older Kama, 3 young Kama, Aurora with an extra vote, 3 Lesu with 2 idols and David/Rick with maybe an idol.

Surprised there hasn't more talk about that "idol".  It has the potential to be one of the better twists in a while IMO, but not with the way Devens played it.  Rather than giving it to his buddy who is also a bottom-dweller I think it would have been smarter to use it as leverage with one of the power players with the understanding of "If I'm still here after 3(?) more tribals, we'll talk about the other half."

Of course the power players have been dropping like flies so what do I know?

AND, how Aurora was so stone cold to the whole thing was astonishing.  Didn't really think much about her chances to win this thing until then, but she just might be a challenge beast going forward with Joe gone.  She is the best open water swimmer that I can recall since Ozzie and has been tops athletically is everything she has completed in so far.  Her social game hasn't been the greatest, but if she can get to the final vote, her Attorney skills could play well in a final speech to the jury.

We don't know anything about her probley cause she doesn't win. The edit usually shows the story of the winner.  So far we aren't getting that kind of edit. That's why I leaning towards the winner is someone coming back from EI. The only players getting an long term edit at least to me is Wardog, David,Devins, Wentworth, Lauren and Victoria. I'm still not sure on who the other players left in the game are if I had to match their name to a face.

I don’t blame Aurora at all and Julie (the Etsy lady) can pound sand. It’s easy to say don’t talk a deal while you are sitting on the bench and you’re out of the challenge. Jeff could have stopped the challenge, but he didn’t. Aurora isn’t a nurse and can’t help Lauren so I don’t blame her at all for negotiating while still trying to save her place in the game for a million dollars. She probably should have realized quicker that Victoria wasn’t going to budge, but the sidelines talking about her as if she shouldn’t keep playing is annoying. Easy to say when you are out but until Jeff stops it how can you not play hard when you clearly needed immunity.

Great summary of the game right now.

The Puppetmaster is a zero in challenges so I am sure that is why they took out Eric. I also think when your alliance gets blindsided, it's almost worse for the remaining alliance members who are still in the game with no power then the alliance member who got voted out. So Ron has to suffer from being at the top of the heap (in his mind) to bottom of the barrel. Although unpredictable things can still happen which can always flip his position.

  Aubry, I hope the practice advantage gets her back into the game and teams up with Aurora.

Last week I ate spicy instant Korean ramen at home as I watched TV from my couch. I verbalized how dizzy the spice was making me, but I was sitting on my butt at home and didn't pass out so it wasn't dramatic. I can see Lauren's episode playing out exactly as they showed it.
