Survivor Season 42: Starts Wednesday March 9, 2022 (2 Viewers)

i wish Natalie hadnt been voted out early.  She is an absolute beast and could have had another epic season.  Still impressive despite EOE.  I also thought michelle played a solid game.  But Tony just owned this.  Best player ever?

Natalie is a great player, but her social game isn't the best.  Hopeful for Tony here obviously.

I HOPE a jury full of winners will recognize how giving it to Natalie would be against the spirit of the game, but I'm not optimistic.
Exactly.  On one hand, they all won "the right way" in the past and you could see them resenting a EOE winner. But on the other, not only did they experience EOE where they got outplayed by Natalie, but they also spent all that time dreaming of being in her place and having a chance to win.  If they don't think she should win because she was voted out of the real game, then they basically are admitting that they wouldn't have deserved it either if they had made it there.

Yeah, Pavarti, Natalie was always straight up and honest with everybody.  She had no reason not to be on EOE the whole game.

Anyone know the backstory on Sophie? She’s totally out of it at this final TC
Not other than being sick the previous one.  I don't really recall a jury member missing a tribal before.  Perhaps there was one who was having a medical thing done once, seems vaguely familiar but can't place it.

Thing is the final Tribal council was over a year ago

So glad he won. Natalie did well on EoE, but the deluge of tokens (1 for coconut challenge and then 8 for a meaningless one at the end) got her in the game. I don't think there's ever been a challenge were someone had so many more advantages than everyone else and even then she still struggled to win. No advantage or just 1 advantage and she's not even close. Also, the ending was kind of funny, she looked upset and golf clapped when Tony won. If she came back when Tyson did, she's not final 3. This season would have stunk up the place if she did win. It's not hard to build relationships on EoE when there's no game play.

Incredibly deserving winner.

Not shocked at the votes Natalie got.  Tyson is a bit of a screwball (plus he obviously got back from extinction), Ethan is obviously partial to survival stories (given his past) and Jeremy was bitter. Parv a little surprising but not shocking she was for a strong female winner.

Michelle getting ZERO votes was a bit surprising. She had a strong finish to the game and really did do a nice job socially and scrambling.

I imagine Natalie wins if she takes out Tony in the fire making, although Sarah would have had a strong case.

If people were being honest with themselves, Tony would’ve gotten every single vote. He dominated the game and didn’t make any enemies really. Of course you’re going to backstab people at certain points because you can’t bring everybody to the final three.

I was only surprised at Jeremy.  Tony tried to help him in various parts of the game, but at the end he was too big a threat.  She built a strong bond with Tyson when she gave him an idol he could play if he made it back in, and she and Parv seemed to have built a relationship.  Ethan is a softie so it didn't surprise me.

Nice setup by the editors making it seem like Nick was voting Michelle (although it was pretty clear when they didn't show him turning the card).

Yeah, Tony rightfully saw Jeremy as both a shield AND someone he could work with (given their shared status as "big threats" and their first responder backgrounds). But at some point,  if you can't control someone, (or at least get them to listen to reason) you gotta cut bait.

No, the plan was for him and Ben to vote Denise, and Sarah and Denise to vote Nat to force the tie 2-2-2.  They wouldn't go along, but he could have thrown his vote on Denise even without them, and that would have sent Denise home.
Reread what you wrote and do the math again.

Made fire, won four immunity idols, hustled his ### off, didn't fly under the radar, used the spy nest, read the game right at almost every turn, never had his name written down.  That's pretty dominant.

Tony deserved this one.  Thank God no EoE winner, let's put that one to bed for good.

Nat should have built fire and laid claim to taking every risk/challenge from the Edge and she might have had a shot.  I still would have hated it.

My math is good so maybe I’ll just say it slower for you.

Tonys plan was the 222. Ben and Sarah wouldn’t go for it. They were voting Nat regardless.  Denise never knew so she wasn’t part of the equation.  He could have still played his vote for Denise without telling anyone. Votes would have been Nat 3 (none count) Ben 2 (none count) Denise 1 goodbye without the extra vote.

Let me know if I need to explain further if you can’t follow the math.

So glad it was Tony.  He really outplayed them all.

Natalie was only at 1 tribal the whole game where she was vulnerable...and she was voted out.  She had a tremendous set of advantages at the challenge and barely won.

Why in the world did Sarah and Ben keep saying Natalie didn't have an idol?  Tony kept telling them, but they just would not listen.

Ben giving up caused him and Sarah being out, would have been an interesting final 4 challenge with Ben, Natalie, Sarah and Tony.  If Nat wins again, then Ben and Tony making fire would have been interesting and a likely final 3 of Natalie, Ben and Sarah.

Interesting in that if they had listed to Tony and voted Denise, Tony and Ben have their idols at final 5, then likely Michelle goes home, leading to Ben vs. Tony in fire making.  If they listened to Tony he may not have one.

Thank goodness most of the jury was level headed and voted for the best player.  Tony losing at the end would have definitely RUINED this season.

Amber after the challenge - I played for him (Rob).  No kidding.

First comment: "Queens don’t quit. Tony is the one true heir"   :lmao:   Too bad she didn't get a vote on the Jury.  Sandra, the only woman to win twice and the only player in season 40 to not be on the jury.

The Spy Nest

Tony was so likable this season. Really dominate. Pretty much had everything figured out every vote.

We only get to see what they show us but I don’t see how anyone doesn’t vote for him.

Probably one of my favorite seasons they have had, really great.

Agree 100% with all of this.  I remember disliking him on his first season, but by now he’s an all-time favorite.  Even before the Spy Nest, remember when he built that awful ladder (and I thought he might fall and die)?  He’s cracked me up the full season, but more than being likable he was the best at making every damn move.  No more worthy winner that I can recall.

Boston Rob: “...all of you guys are making our decision tonight immensely harder...”

my wife: “Well yeah. Except for Wendell.”

The ladder and him running around with that shark were both too funny.

I am not familiar with how to build fires like that outside of what I know from Survivor.

Did Sarah mistakenly smother her flame with extra husk on top?  I wonder if she would have won if she either put the husk in at an angle to allow some air flow or probably better, use the tall flame to start building a taller teepee...
