Wow - that's a pretty good haul for Tamme.per Schefterenver reached agreement on a three-year, $9 million deal with former Colt Jacob Tamme, who will be reunited with Broncos Peyton Manning.
If Julius Thomas is the goods, signing Dressen and Tamme will have little impact on him.Dreessen and Tamme. It looks like we may still have to wait to see if Julius Thomas is the goods?
maybe you'll get lucky and he will land on the JetsGuess I'll be cutting Dallas Clark now. Is there even a viable place for him now?
Thomas intrigued me as a dynasty prospect. With the new TE acquisitions in DEN, Thomas' blip on my sleeper radar has faded away.Dreessen and Tamme. It looks like we may still have to wait to see if Julius Thomas is the goods?
These signings wouldn't occur if they thought he was anywhere near ready. Esp the 3 year Tamme signing. If Julius Thomas is the goods, signing Dressen and Tamme will have little impact on him.Dreessen and Tamme. It looks like we may still have to wait to see if Julius Thomas is the goods?
I didn't say Julius Thomas was the goods, and Dressen and Tamme will have little impact on him. I included "IF" and I think that is a totally sound position to take on it. Tamme is soft as warm butter. He's a nice receiver, but this isn't like adding Rob Gronkowski to the puzzle here. This is the same kind of situation as Vincent Brown is in. Smart NFL teams don't bank on young unproven talent. They sign veterans to cover themselves if their young guy isn't ready. Thomas isn't any less talented now than he was yesterday. Nor is he any less likely to have a breakout season. Dressen and Tamme simply aren't good enough to keep him on the bench if he's truly an elite talent at the position.Sorry, no. He is two players who signed 3 year contracts less likely. Of course he's less likely. These signings are an indictment of where he stands in the Broncos management's eyes. If they were mere fillers (esp Tamme) the contracts would not have been as they are.Thomas isn't any less talented now than he was yesterday. Nor is he any less likely to have a breakout season.

Exactly. You didn't see teams like the Saints go out and sign other guys. They turned Jimmy graham loose. Apparently, THey don't see Thomas as ready. From everything I've heard, Thomas is Very very raw still. This is probably a good deal for Tamme owners, especially considering they probably picked him up off waivers for nothing. Manning makes his TEs viable.This.Feels good to finally look at the broncos and see a team and not tebow. He is two players who signed 3 year contracts less likely. Of course he's less likely. I look forward to drafting Tamme.
And why I think Couch is probably underrating Dressen who is probably the more talented TE. Tamme is just average IMO. I dont think the name matters. Who gets the playing time will matter and I could see Dressen beating out a Tamme. Clark would have been clear but Tamme is not.I never thought Tamme was a particularly special player, but as we've seen time after time, Manning will make his TE fantasy relevant whether its Pollard, Clark, Tamme or anyone else that's filled in.
Im confused how you base your opinions, because if its off of performance your crazy. And why I think Couch is probably underrating Dressen who is probably the more talented TE. what's so crazy about it? I don't see anything in the numbers that puts Tamme head and shoulders above Dreessen... if anything, JD's yd/rec shows he's more of a downfield threat and would prob put up more FF points w/ the same amount of attention in an offense.Im confused how you base your opinions, because if its off of performance your crazy. And why I think Couch is probably underrating Dressen who is probably the more talented TE. Talent-wise I don't think Tamme is that special but he only caught less than 6 catches a game twice once he was starting. Manning almost certainly made this happen for a reason.Did you WATCH 2010 after Clark went on IR? LOL..Yeah, I knew he was right at the top but didn't want to list "top" without looking to make sure.He played his college ball here locally and I thought he had receiving talent. Overall top talent for a TE? I won't argue with anyone there that maybe he's not all that. But opportunity in FF is half the equation and the last time the opportunity read "Manning + Tamme", I know I and lots of others rode that to the playoffs and beyond. I'll take it. I like Dreesen. He has always done an admirable job when daniels missed time but I think the familiartiy of what Manning wants to do gives tamme a big leg up here in terms of maybe panning out in FF.Also, he was actually the #2 TE from week 8 to the end of the season in PPR.
Talent wise Tamme has good hands, runs good routes, and has good speed. From my definition of talent that applies.Talent-wise I don't think Tamme is that special but he only caught less than 6 catches a game twice once he was starting. This thread should be 5 pages long by this point....are folks walking around in a state of amnesia? Folks, say hello to the new addition in your Top 10 TE rankings. If you believe Manning is good to go and all signs seem to point that way then you have to assume Tamme is the starter with what they have on the roster. He has already worked with Manning, they could have signed CLark but they didn't. Manning has Tamme tabbed as his TE outlet and I would plug him in 65-70 receptions and 750+ yds, add in TDs as you see fit. 6/64/TD, 11/108/TD, 7/73, 7/60, 7/64(wash rinse repeat), 4/47, 4/36, 7/34, 7/78/TD, 7/677 out of the 9 games he started he had 7+ receptions...he obviously doesn't have much wiggle but he seems to connect with Manning just fine and probably will understand and be ahead of any o the other TEs and their chemistry with Manning. I would quietly gobble him up at redrafts and in dynasty you want to go get this guy.'cstu said:Also, he was actually the #2 TE from week 8 to the end of the season in PPR.

Yikes guys don't get too caught up in the pure talent trap. Manning makes guys, sometimes very average, into star players. Don't overthink it. Manning signs, he likes throwing to the TE, his former TE who he had fantasy magic with signs a 3 year deal right behind him. Manning to Tamme = TE gold. He'll likely creep inside the top 10 as we get closer to the year.
True, but as we know, when it is Manning throwing the ball, there is plenty of love to go around. IF Clark were to sign with the Broncos, then everything we say about tamme today=Clark. But if things stay as is, Tamme is a gem this year.the best thing you can do is go watch a couple of Southpark episodes where Timmy is in them. Practice how timmy says his name: TIMMAY!! Now alter that to TAMME!I would think Manning would use all his talented receivers, spreading it out. Clark hasn't signed anywhere yet. This is up in the air for me still.
I realize I didnt fill my original post with actual information, but im all in on tamme - I thought my original post (the 5th one in this thread) reflected this opinion.Ive been getting away with grabbing Tamme in the 7th in 12 man (TE 8) mock drafts and 9th in 10 man (TE 9). I play in start two TE leagues though and there is no way I dont reach for Tamme.Hes my TE4.GronkGrahamV. DavisTammeFinleyGreshamGatesF. I was beginning to think I was in Bizarro world. I can't believe so many people have forgotten/dismissed the run Manning and Tamme had in 2010.
Agree witht he points and especially if they bring Dallas Clark in but as it stands now, Tamme is gaining value like a runaway train, IMO. Re: Julius. I know he is a very popular "next big thing" but I think Manning on this team only delays this process because one thing anybody who folows the colts can tell you is that it takes a long time for players to get into that groove with Manning and understand the system. Guys like Clark and wayne and collie have openly said it was the 2nd (or 3rd) year with manning when it clicked. Manning isn't on that time schedule and honestly has no reason to be since he has Tamme (and especialy if he also gets Clark).'BigTex said:Peyton has been throwing to Julius so I'd temper my expectations of any TE for Denver until....1. Since he is a true pass catching TE and the others arent I draw the distinction that he will be.Bill Bellichek was on Access and mentioned the Bronco TE and said they dont have a Dallas Clark on roster right now that Manning will really depend on. I know 8 games for Tamme but we will see. He might not even be in but a 3rd down guy. These predictions to this point seem crazy to me but I guess we will see.
