Tampa Bay Bucs thread: back to back to back to back NFC South Champs (2 Viewers)

At least we have 5 weeks…but yea one of the worst possible injuries it seems to me.
Between Godwin and Wirfs going down at the end of last year and then this, man…just seems like it isn’t meant to be. None of these are even 4-6 week injuries. Just season-enders. Crazy.

What's going on with Brady leaving camp until after 08/20?

It's pretty bizarre to me. I'd understand it more if a medical issue came up but they are saying it was pre-planned. I'm not sure I buy it, but I do believe them when they say it's not a big dea

Getting divorced?

-Giselle rumors are a complete ruse IMHO, hard to imagine these 2 getting divorced, they're almost a Brand by themselves, certainly Tom Brady is TB12.

-On pretty good authority I hear he is filming that "masked singer" deal on Fox they do with Celebrities and that the Bucs cannot say what is going on or they will blow the whole thing. You might laugh or giggle but it adds up. Fox paid him $375M for a 10 yr contract and he will assume some responsibilities to do things outside of just sitting in a booth or studio. Fox runs that show I referenced, it checks out and adds up if you think about it.

But divorce sounds juicer and much better media click bait.

Brady's wife is very active and supportive at almost all his football games, includes his other son from Moynahan and it's difficult to envision the two of them parting ways but stranger things happen all the time.

Feels like The Masked Singer is beneath TB12 somehow. If he went on that I'd be like what? Why Tom, Why?

Ali Mapert retired, Jensen went down and now it looks like Stinnie suffered a torn ACL and MCL, this is not a promising start to Brady's last season as a Buccaneer..

All interior guys too, which is an issue for a statue QB. Nothing against Brady, but people expecting a repeat of 2021 may be severly disappointed.
Personally, the only Buc I would draft is TB12 because he's just that freakin good. That being said I wouldn't pay more than a buck for him in my auction, and I'd grab Kirk Cousins as my 2, just in case.

With the coaching stuff with Bruce Ariens, Brady retiring and then unretiring, him taking a week off during the most important month of preparation, Godwin with an ACL, Gronk gone, this is shaping up to be ugly and I don't want much to do with them.

I heard this same rumor on my drive home from work a few minutes ago.

If Tom Brady can also sing really well, it’s just not fair.

Aaron Stinnie is not good and was not going to win that job.
I'm trying to enjoy one last ride shotgun with my son that has seen a high of the Super Bowl in my living room with him as the Bucs won, still one of the best moments of my life, felt surreal when it was happening.

-The realist in me however feels things are not pointing up right now. From the retirement which was actually simply saying good bye to the Bucs and was coming to Miami but was harpooned by the Flores' lawsuit and Adam Schefter eager to be the first to break the retirement story, all true as per Florio and Ben Violin from Boston. The entire '22 season is a false narrative if you want to hear me say how I really feel about Tom Brady.

That does not deter my enthusiasm because I just found out today my son(St Pete) will be joining me Week 1 at my house on the new TV so he can learn how to properly go back and forth from local live games to the RedZone so there's no commercials.

I'm not drafting Brady this year, I did the last 2 seasons and it worked out very well but I have a bad feeling about things right now and I hope I'm wrong. My 2nd favorite team in the NFL but I am not optimistic the way things are taking off so far.

He was in the Bahamas with his family. What a d-bag.

Definitely seems like a very credible source.
I saw it from a few sources.

Here's one that affirms a theory posted above that the plans were made after he retired and he was committed.

Quote:

"Brady made plans when he was retired, it is only logical he wasn't going to break commitments made to his family when he decided to change his mind and unretire

Retiring again never crossed his mind, according to a source in the story. He will fulfill his commitments to the Bucs"

Bucs signing WR Cole Beasley

Godwin-Still not ready, was Inactive-OUT Week 2
Julio-How can your trust someone that has to see how they feel after warm ups?
Justin Gage...I tried to warn the Bucs fans this was a tremendous step back from Brown in the slot to Justin Gage who is looking more useless every week.
Evans-Out Suspension Week 3

Is there a Tight End on the roster that is targeted regularly?
This has gotten bad quickly and it might get better later on but right now it's pretty ugly when Scotty Miller and Cole Beasley are your best options at WR heading into Week 3 vs the Packers.

From an nfl perspective they are fine. They want to run the ball…a lot, and Brady has worked with worse receivers.

From a fantasy perspective I’d probably stay away from all Bucs other than Lenny for a while.

How important is Akiem Hicks to the Bucs?
Pretty good player. They’ll miss him. In terms of importance maybe their 10th or 11th best defensive player?
No doubt but he's mostly a run stopper weighing in close to 350 lbs, he's not really a DE but I'm with you that he fit in well with Bowles' monster he's unleashed this year.

I have specific questions and maybe you can help.

-Is it just injuries have decimated them on offense? 4WRs possibly OUT, 2-3 Starting OL. The 2 weeks off at training camp is very unlike TB12, I think it has something to do with the $375M Fox has paid him. Have you ever known of any player that just leaves camp for 2 weeks? In my lifetime I can't think of a single one. It is so unlike TB12 and he's such a team guy that I find it hard to believe he just went to the Bahamas.

-If he did go and it was a family emergency thing, where is his head at? Where there's smoke there's fire and things don't seem right in the background for TB12 World right now. But we can't see everything and we really have no idea. This season feels like a circus which brings me to the next question.

-Arians on the sidelines? So spooky weird when rumors always circle of there being a riff between Arians and Brady for whatever reason, I've never found a solid one, not like the solid nuggets I have that Brady was leaving TB for Miami, I will repeat those are reported facts and not paparazzi TMZ buzz. Stephen Ross suspension for tampering proves it.

Defense looks like a juggernaut, like the kind that win Super Bowls
But the offense...

I'd like to hear your POV on some of this. I want the Bucs to win another title and I'd like to see them rally around Fournette and White. I like the rookie a lot and wish they could get him the ball a few more times. You know the Packers are winning this week, right? I'm not trying to reverse fan jinx this, Green Bay is marching in and winning this football game as painful as that is to write. But that's OK, the Bucs need to taste a loss, they won't have many this season and this will stay with them thru the post season where they will wax the Packers.
The MoP tea leaves are strong this week.

Saints no Kamara, they knocked out Dak Week 1, Jones and Dillon are going to be a problem. The Packers Defense is going to be an even bigger problem.

The Packers D is a problem because they shut down Justin Fields? Kirk Cousins lit them up. Home/Road in the NFL is kind of important. The Bucs have won two games on the road against two likely top 5 defenses with backup players. Let’s see how they look on offense at home before jumping to so many conclusions.

Historically, with Tom Brady, they’re much better at Raymond James when he can easily communicate.

The GB offense was anemic on the road against the Vikes and the Bucs D has teed off on Rodgers in their last few matchups.

I've probably been to a dozen Packer games in Tampa and would say it used to be the House of Fun back at the Big Sombrero in the Favre years and has become a House of Horrors at RayJay. However, the last time I was there the Packers did pull out a nice win, but then there was a massive flash storm as we were leaving the stadium and some dude from Wisconsin was struck by lightning. I do not expect a Packer win this weekend, but do have a strong prediction that my son and I will have a great time fishing with my cousins on Saturday (weather permitting), I will eat at least 6 grouper sandwiches over 3 days and I will not want to see another margarita the rest of this year.

I don’t really think about Tom leaving camp at all anymore. That was a month ago. They are running the ball more because he threw the ball like 700 times last year and he’s 45. They want to reduce his workload and make sure he doesn’t keep getting hit all the time.

From the OL a people I follow the Bucs line still has been top-5 this year overall (small sample of course) so I don’t think that has much to do with it. And he had Mike the first two games so it hasn’t been a total lack of talent. They are just very focused on running the ball and keeping the Defense fresh. They think the D is the strength of the team and I think they’re right.

If Brady hated Arians like all those dumb rumors he wouldn’t be on the sideline. And Arians was standing behind the quarterbacks coaching them during camp and practice. I don’t take anything from that at all.

As for tomorrow I think the Bucs take a tight game but GB is good, probably really good. Could go either way.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent Tom Brady isn't expected to re-sign with the Bucs.

Multiple Bucs players said they don't expect Brady to return with the team following their first-round exit from the playoffs. Retiring at age-45 has always been the plan for Brady but that may have changed based on how his last season in Tampa went. While it wouldn't be surprising if Brady retired, there's a better chance he returns for another year given the quarterback landscape this offseason, with the Raiders and ex-Patriots OC Josh McDaniels expected to make a run at signing him. The 49ers and Tennessee have also been linked as teams that would consider pursuing Brady.

There have been a half-dozen defenses with four or more Hall of Famers on the roster simultaneously for multiple seasons. The Bucs are the only one in the last four decades.

It’s funny how this dumpster can of a franchise has done some cool stuff between all the 5-11 seasons.

Please don’t think about that wasted Kyle Trask pick and how a corner or wideout or literally anybody else could have helped that amazing 2021 team through the litany of injuries they had. Don’t think about it.

Devon Achane RB, TeXas A&M
5-8, 188
4.32 40 time at the combine, that's really fast.

Dunn ran between 4.28 and 4.35
Listed at 5-9, Achane is a half inch shorter, weight almost identical

You have Baker Mayfield, going to need a 1-2 punch at RB like they haven't had in a while
60-120 range in the draft, Bucs have the 82nd Pick in the 3rd.

Say what you want about Todd Bowles, but it’s a testament to how these guys feel about him that they continue to re-sign here.

The NFC is pretty wide open. I’m optimistic for a new offensive direction.

I think they’ll draft a back, but I don’t think it will be early. That being said Licht may have flashbacks to passing on Dalvin Cook for OJ Howard.

I would expect one of those top 3 OTs, an EDGE, or Branch. If all of those “elites” are gone somehow Bijan could be an option.

Ryan Jensen is sigined for a couple more years and he missed all of '22, big reason the Bucs stunk.
What are the plans here?

Jensen and Whirfs make a solid 1-2 at Center and Right Tackle when healthy.
Bucs seriously need some help at the LG and RG spots, maybe some of you know a little more about the plan in those spots?
Leverett if that's his name seems like JAG
Bucs need to find a Left Tackle, not sure who that is in the 1st Rd for them
