TE Dallas Goedert, PHI (1 Viewer)

Like most been in TE limbo all year. Not sure if I can trust him 1st week back, but my lineup may not give me an option with all my injuries

Yeah, I’m concerned that even if Goedert plays, it might not be a full snap load. Versus the Bears, it could be a very run heavy game script, particularly if the weather conditions are poor. And when Hurts does throw, it’s not like he doesn’t already have a great pair of WRs to use.

The Eagles did not activate Dallas Goedert (shoulder) from injured reserve for Week 15.

Goedert had said things were "trending in the right direction" to play against the Bears, but with the 12-1 Eagles cruising heading into a matchup where they are heavily favored, they will give Goedert one more week to get healthy. Goedert can be fully expected to return on Christmas Eve against the Cowboys, where he will immediately rejoin the TE1 ranks despite his long layoff.

If Minshew is the QB this week and Goedert is playing, both things I believe are likely to occur, this is a reminder that Goedert had the best fantasy game of his career last year in the one game he played with Minshew.

people don’t realize that Minschew is arguably one of the best backup QB’s in the league. Behind that line and with those weapons, I fully expect him to put up respectable numbers.

Didn't reports say he was looking good on the sidelines last week? My guess is he plays this weekend.
Yeah. Every report had him as rolling out this week. I'll be surprised if he's not. Bears defend TEs well but otherwise they're a good defense to shake off rust with before going to Dallas and then facing NO.

Right, last week (and even the weekend before) reports were 'he's looking good on the sidelines', 'no issues', 'might not have even needed to go on IR, could have played'... then not activated. Was there a reason why? Roster space or something we're not being told?

Dallas Goedert caught all five targets for 58 yards and one touchdown in the Eagles' Divisional Round win over the Giants.

Goedert got the scoring started on the opening drive with a one-handed catch-and-run touchdown against man coverage from 16 yards out. He would be denied a second score in the second quarter as he was tackled at the three, setting up a Boston Scott vulture to put the Eagles up 21-0. Goedert's volume would evaporate in the second half with the team nursing a 28-0 lead at the break but his yards after the catch ability was on full display against the man-heavy Giants defense. Goedert and the Eagles now set their sights on the winner of the Dallas-San Francisco game on Sunday.

Dallas Goedert caught 6-of-7 targets for 60 yards in the Eagles' Super Bowl LVII loss to the Chiefs.

The Eagles’ passing attack took a major step forward under Jalen Hurts, but Goedert couldn’t build on his career 2021 after he missed five games with a shoulder issue. When he returned, it was to two games with Gardner Minshew under center before Hurts came back from his shoulder issue in Week 18. The third option in the passing game behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Goedert was still near his career peak in catches and targets per game. He remains a clear-cut, top-eight TE1 headed into 2023, one who could easily finish in the top five if he finally enjoys an overall healthy campaign. Save for his 2018 rookie campaign, Goedert has missed time every year of his NFL career.

hes going to be decent again but the eagles offense is going to spread it around. its why they are so good. different guys every game putting up numbers.

Maybe this guy will start getting his due in that offense, but with Devonta Smith and A.J. Brown, he'll always be third fiddle. You want a TE that's second fiddle. Goedert (and I roster him and basically him alone at TE in my main dynasty league) is always going to be more of a potential weapon for that offense than he'll give you fantasy production. Sad, but true. But he really is one of the better TEs in a diminished landscape (aside from the rookies).

The Aiyuk of TE's. Talent>stats.

Saying that if I pulled out the proration machine and accounted for the 5 games he missed he'd be right near 80/1000, which is kind of crazy because he'd have worked out to just a hair under 100 targets. That's some pretty strong numbers and he was the #5 TE in PPG in my TE premium leagues even with being a little light on TD's. I just think if he was in a different offense he'd be discussed as maybe being the best all around TE in the game.

Roster AJB and Goedert and have always looked at it as, if they're both healthy then great, they're both healthy. If one of them goes down, then I should get a boost from the other.

There was a point before the Hockenson trade to the Vikings that Goedert had surpassed Hockenson in the consensus rankings. I had a complete tossup on which one to include in a trade and I chose to keep Goedert. Probably would take a do-over on that one for the reasons already citied, but if Goedert ever makes it to elite fantasy status, he's doing it on my roster darnit.

Facing pressure during live 11v11 period, Jalen Hurts fires a dart over the middle, and Dallas Goedert displays impressive strength in traffic. Hurts to Goedert connection is alive and well. Hurts hits the tight end again two plays later on final rep of the drive.
Def feeling like a Dallas Goedert day. With Christian Elliss draped all over him in 7-on-7s, Goedert hauls in another intermediate completion from Hurts. Right after the play, Elliss shouts, “How?!” and Goedert simply shrugs as he runs back to the huddle.

Ran enough routes, was never really targeted outside of once or twice.

QB prerogative today. He was open a couple times and Hurts went elsewhere. When Hurts sees the game film he'll see what he missed. Romo pointed out two plays back to back that Goedert was wide open.

Dallas Goedert did not catch his only target in the Eagles’ Week 1 win over the Patriots.

Despite usually having a great rapport with Hurts, Goedert couldn’t get his attention this game. There were a couple of plays late in the game where Goedert came open, but Hurts opted to throw the deep ball instead. Fantasy managers shouldn’t panic as Devonta Smith put up a goose egg last season in Week 1. Goedert will look to bounce back in Week 2 against the Vikings.

Goedert is always going to be a bit up and down with two great passing options alongside him in Brown/Smith, but this is probably an aberration of being totally uninvolved.

I'm gonna put what I said about him in the Panic Meter thread in here too:

I don't think we can read much into what happened with him yesterday. The weather was terrible, the NE defense played very well and the Eagles struggled to move the ball except on the first two drives, one of which was very short due to Elliott's fumble. Several times Goedert was open and Hurts didn't see him or had already made up his mind to go elsewhere. And Sirianni said after the game that he wants to get Goedert (and Swift) more involved.

Brown always gets his, but sometimes one of Smith or Goedert doesn't. That's what happened yesterday.

totally uninvolved.

You don’t get .10 pts per route run? Submit a scoring change for 2024.

95% route participation!

:confetti:
Reminded me of my previous site in the Jordan Mason hype thread. It was 90 pages of him not doing anything, but getting a special teams tackle. Special teams tackles and route participation should be standard scoring additions to all leagues.

Plus we award bonuses if it’s inside the 25 on a kickoff or the punt return is 2 yards or less. Punters who are Top 5 in net average are basically like QBs in SuperFlex. Still working on how to score Long Snappers though, very contentious debate on the Discord.

he'll be fine and finish in the middle of the pack of TE's. He's just going to have variability like 95% of the TEs.

Brutal. To the bench he goes until they stop running effectively or their defense gets the eagles down. Guess he had like 30% target share but who cares if they’re just check downs

Yea the play calling for eagles this year isn’t looking that great …I get running on the Vikings because they couldn’t stop it. But still the pass plays they ran looked very basic

Do football guys track stats for the play callers and what those offenses look like in terms of fantasy points ?

because the Eagles and Cowboys look very different so far and having the right play caller seems very important for determine offensive usage in general

I was majorly down on Goddert this year due to him being the 3rd option on a team that runs w the QB on the GL, but he led the team in targets and receptions last night. Guess I need to eat some crow.

This is good on you to own and I recall refuting you labeling him a TE2 in the panic thread.

I was of course refuting the notion he can't can't survive as the third wheel in this low volume passing attack because he just did it last year.

But you kind of don't have to eat crow, not yet anyway. Even in the 1.5 PPR TE premium leagues I own Goedert he barely scratched out a usable game and his yards per route run, which I believe was better then any player in the league last year, is way down. My point I'm making here is I knew the one target game was an anomaly but he's still got be hyper efficient with his targets to return value and he's not been yet. I suspect that will change, but IMO you don't have to eat crow as of yet.
