TE George Kittle, SF (1 Viewer)

Bummer for the whole Niner offense.

Tonges or Farrell or don't bother?
I'd say don't bother unless you miss out on Fannin/Jennings/Strange or they are already all owned. Unless you're in a TE premium should, should have better options. Maybe Mayer on the chance Bowers injury causes him to miss time (I don't think there's been a definitive update on him yet).

Niners won't have a fantasy relevant TE. If I had to roster someone, it would probably be Brayden Willis who they are bringing up from the practice squad. Tonges had never caught a pass prior to last week and Farrell is a blocking TE who will leak out and get the occasional surprise reception.

I prefer Tonges to Farrell if I had to pick between the two. Tonges got a pair of looks in the red zone, turning one of them into a TD. Farrell is a better blocker, which is why he played more snaps than Tonges. However, Tonges ran a route on 50 percent of his snaps compared to 27 percent for Farrell. All that said, I agree with pinkstapler that looking elsewhere may be the better move, but Tonges should be a relatively inexpensive bet on flex consideration if you have space for him.

John Lynch:

"George is doing really well. We put him on that short-term IR. He's not even eligible until after the Rams game. I think Tampa would be the first game that George is eligible. He's tracking well, putting in a lot of really good work, like George always does."

That's about all we're gonna get for now.

Don't regret going elite TE in many leagues. Injuries happen.

Playing TE roulette each week is a nightmare. Start somebody. Nothing. Drop him he goes off. Rinse repeat.

Get healthy Kittle.

George Kittle a "Long Shot" to Play in Week 6, Week 7 Return More Likely

October 3, 2025 at 03:49 PM

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (hamstring) has been on Injured Reserve since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 1 and is first eligible to return in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, that appears doubtful, as 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Kittle is a "long shot" to return in Week 6 and that a Week 7 return against the Atlanta Falcons is more likely. In Kittle's absence, San Francisco tight end Jake Tonges has recorded 19 catches for 166 yards and three touchdowns, including 10 catches for 99 yards and two scores in his last two games.

I had 2 strategies at TE this year: aggressively get Kittle or double tap Warren and Kraft. I feel like even with the Kittle injury, the process was spot on. A healthy Kittle would probably be scoring 15 PPR PPG right now. Just bad luck for the teams I have Kittle on.

George Kittle says that he fully tore his hamstring in Seattle, so he was extra careful to not return too early. He’s fully healthy again now and plans to play Sunday against Atlanta
How do you fully tear your hamstring and play again...this season!?

Whatever, I'll take it. If he's active he's starting.

Odd injury situations in SF. Kittle completely tears hamstring, but is playing, Jennings has 5 broken ribs and high and low ankle sprains, but somehow plays.

Team doctor should be fired.

Twitter's sort of ominipresent fantasy football PT Jeff Mueller says no way and that you can't. Says if Kittle is playing it was likely a Grade 2 strain.

He`s BAAaaack

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers will activate George Kittle (hamstring) from injured reserve before Week 7’s game against the Falcons.
Mac Jones does get a small reinforcement in Week 7 with Kittle over the middle. This move effectively ends Jake Tonges’ fantasy value and pushes Kendrick Bourne into a more of a supporting role. Kittle should be fired up as a high-end TE1 in all fantasy leagues immediately.

TE George Kittle will be full go on Sunday night, per Kyle Shanahan. No limitations.

"No pitch count," Shanahan said. "George has rehabbed really well. He came back 100% and had a good week of practice, so we’ll space it out throughout the game but no pitch count."

No pitch count but they’ll “space it out”? What does that even mean?
Just his way of messing with the other team I would imagine. With Kyle, if you are healthy you will play.
