TE Isaiah Likely, BAL (1 Viewer)

Both Andrews and Likely are in their last contract years. In my opinion, the Ravens see Likely as the future at the position; however, they may want to keep both for a Super Bowl run.

The question becomes how both feel about splitting time on a contract year. I think this affects likely more. He will want to be extended now or showcase what he can do for other teams willing to commit to him, and I think there will be teams willing to do that. How do you extend both or just one without hurting your relationship with the other, or try to get them both to wait and sell the Super Bowl run? I traded for Likely in mid-April, but my thought process was more for 2026 than 2025. Anything that happens in 2025 is a bonus for me with Likely.

The worst case would be for the Ravens to sign both; both are happy with splitting. I do not think that will happen, but that is the risk. I can not see Likely doing that. I think he wants to be a #1 tight end.

I think the x-factor in everything is what type of $ they are looking for...for Likely this may be his only chance to sign for big $ so he may not be looking to give the Ravens a discount...the question for Andrews who is coming off a pretty big deal is he looking to sign one more big deal or would he rather stay in Baltimore and because of that would play for a team-friendly deal...also, the Ravens are a team that really values the TE position so I would not be shocked if they lose one of them if they used something like a second round pick on a TE to replace who they lost and now nothing has really changed too much...in the world of fantasy we like things to be cut and dry but this situation is still murky and I say that as a Likely Owner who has been sitting on him for a few years and do believe he has the potential to be a legit fantasy asset.
They have Charlie Kolar, who's also on the last year of his contract and was a talented pass-catcher in college but just hasn't been able to crack the Andrews/Likely roadblock in front of him. I expect Kolar and at least one of the others to re-sign. If that happens, I doubt they'd burn a high pick on another TE (I have no clue what next year's draft looks like for TEs and maybe someone falls who they really like).

Hell, I don't know. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

It will be interesting...if it ends up being Andrews and Kolar I could see a higher pick because of Andrews age (and the possibility he would be on a short-term deal)...Likely and Kolar could be a situation where the need isn't as great.

What are the odds that Likely surpasses Andrews this year? He's looked great when given opportunities.
I'd peg it around 65% in terms of playing time, 40% in terms of fantasy production.
Why would Likely get more playing time? He didn't last year, despite Andrews coming into the season limited, and nowhere near 100%.

I think the Ravens might have 2 of the 10 best TEs in the NFL, but I certainly don't feel like Likely has surpassed Andrews yet. Likely is better after the catch, sure, but Andrews is a FAR better route runner, has better hands, and is a better blocker. None of that is a knock on Likely, just think Andrews is very much still a top-5 TE in the NFL.

Personally, I think they should be using 2-TE sets full-time (we really needed 370 routes between Agholor/Wallace?) given they added DeAndre Hopkins, I don't know that the 2-TE sets are gonna happen like they should.

Mainly how they ended the season after the bye week into the playoffs but there is a lot more to it.

Those 6 weeks after their bye week Likely held a 3 to 2 snaps per game edge over Andrews with another game being a tie. Ended up being close overall with Likely ahead 106 to 86 in the two playoff games and 277 to 262 snaps over those 6 games overall.

In terms of last season while what you say is true it's not in games played. I heard few weeks ago Likely was dealing with an injury of his own last year but I don't want to get to hung up on that without specifics. But unlike Andrews he missed game. If you back the game out that Likely missed and just look at their actual 18 games played together it was Likely how held the edge in playing time. And that's with him being knocked out of the game early the week before he missed.

You can cite Andrews coming into the season limited if you wish but he actually started the season playing more then Likely the first two weeks and again it was actually LIkely that missed a whole game, part of another, and might have been dealing with something of his own.

Agreed. I don’t think it’s just coach speak from Harbaugh. They want Likely to lift up his game and think he can. Seems obvious to me they are telling him this.

Baltimore is usually pretty good at knowing when it’s time to move on. 30 isn’t that old for a TE but in 2026 he will be 31. Not sure how much money they will want to give him. I could see them moving on after this season if Likely fulfills his potential.

I’m sure they’ll give Andrews plenty of chances to show he can still play this year. They are pros at taking advantage of supplemental pick system. If he has a good year they can let him move on and get a pick the next year.

Don't think it's coachspeak either but just the same Harbaugh could have said nothing and I'd have had the same computations. LIke I said above, it's how they were used last year, in hindsight I think I lowballed Likely on only giving him a 65% chance to play more then Andrews.

At this point I think the Ravens view Andrews as the better receiver of the two but Likely as the better blocker, more versatile and the future.

The future part I do rely on coachspeak or GM speak because the only one of these two Decosta talked about possibly leaving or needing to work things out was Andrews which IMO made it pretty clear where things stand for the future. Don't see them both back after this year and only way I think they would pivot to keeping Andrews and not Likely is if they can't get Likely to agree on an extension.

As to the bolded comment...... don't believe anything Harbaugh or any Ravens official says unless it's something like "he's ruled out for this week's game". They are notorious liars and the freaking CIA asks Baltimore for hints on how to spread disinformation and keep things in-house  I'm not saying your prediction is wrong, just that I wouldn't base it on anything the Ravens "officially" say.

I remember that one good game from Likely last year where we all thought he was the next great one. Just never materialized. Andrews is only 29 and the passing of the torch won't happen this year. Personally, I view Likely as an Andrews handcuff and we don't handcuff tight ends. Do we? Ha ha

There are a lot of ways this can play out now and the in the future. As long as Andrews is a Raven, I do not think Likely is going to make the leap some project. Andrews will not only be out to prove he is worth another contract, but also try to put the playoff gaffe behind him. I would expect him to continue to be the great pro that he is with some extra motivation fueling him this season. I just do not think there is enough meat on the bone for Likley to make a significant jump this year if Andrews is healthy and on the roster.

Agreed...I can see Likely surpassing Andrews but unless Andrews hits the wall I don't see it being by a lot.

I could see the Mark Andrews hitting the wall sooner than other players because he’s a type one diabetic. That disease makes it more difficult for the body to recover from injury.

Disagree. The average person with type 1 diabetes doesn't manage their blood sugar or diet nearly as strictly as a professional athlete. I've read about how regimented Andrews is in game and outside of games with regards to his blood sugar. Dude has it on lockdown and has since he was a kid. He's healing nearly as quick as anyone else approaching 30.

I agree with the other poster that it could be a concern as he ages but right now 29-30 is not old for a TE.

There are so many people on the Likely hype train that I might have to go shopping for Andrews in my dynasty leagues. He's still a fantastic TE and can be a top 5 TE difference maker with the Ravens. Andrews was coming off a significant injury and then was in a car crash last offseason and started slow as a result. He still finished with 11 TDs and TE5 overall.

He has great chemistry with Lamar and he's their #1 RZ targe (17 RZ targets alone last year, well ahead of Likely). And Likely had 3 of his targets early in the season when Andrews was still not 100%.

Likely is a good TE but I expect Andrews to outperform him this year again.

He's TD dependent and I think the car crash excuse is way over played and does not take into account that as the season progressed he was still playing less snaps then Likely and and was heading for massive career low marks in targets.

I only play TEP leagues and that low target share and being TD dependent does not put him remotely in top 5 TE or difference making potential. I have zero interest in him except BB formats if he falls enough because in that format I won't have to predict which games he scores a TD.

Likely is a good TE but I expect Andrews to outperform him this year again.
I agree with this and thier ADP is multiple rounds apart so pretty sure this is consensus opinion. Like I said a few posts up, this is bad for both of them, both will have spike weeks which make them better BB players but I don't trust putting either of them in my lineup though if you play no PPR or half a point PPR kind of stuff that does take a little sting out of the low target/catch totals.

One last quick comment on the car crash. I bring it up as he was also rehabbing from his leg/ankle injury as well. The combination of both set him back and Likely filled in well during that time.

Ravens have found out they have two very good TEs that play different "roles". I still believe that Andrews is the better TE, especially in the redzone and with contested catches but there are things Likely does better. Ravens trying to sort this out as the season goes on here but they will be a good offense and Andrews (assuming health) can hit 9-10 TDs again.

I still believe Andrews has a lot of good years left. People wrote Kittle off a few years ago and he just keeps pumping out top 5 seasons. I scooped him up 2 years ago and road him to back to back championships. Might be time to grab Andrews at a discount now I think, similar to Kittle 3 years ago.

I've covered this already but the season started with Andrews playing more snaps then LIkely the first two games and by a sizeable amount. That shifted to Likely as the season went along with flies in the face that Andrew's slow start was solely related to the auto accident. I think the team just made an assessment they needed to get Likely more involved.

Really different players but I would not say Andrews is better. Likely I believe is the better blocker now and offers a lot more YAC ability but agree Andrews is the better pure receiver.

Possible but nothing I'd betting on where Andrews goes in drafts. Again this could be a different convo depending on format but in a 1.5 TEP league I mainly play I don't spend the draft capital on a guy like Andrews hoping for TD's. I need more volume then I expect he's going to get.

I don't know anyone who wrote off Kittle myself but it's an apples to oranges comp anyway. I don't think to many people are necessarily down on Andrews the player just realizing he now shares his position in a way he never has had to before, until last year. That was never the case with Kittles. And unlike Kittles he's likely heading to unknown of a new team. Which is not all the way bad. I actually drafted Andrews early this off-season in hopes he was on a new team, would never have drafted him where I did if he I thought he was returning on the Ravens.

Bottom line for me I see a guy who is going to struggle to get 80 targets and I see minimal dropoff in his talent but I see a major dropoff in targets from his heyday.

Likely and Andrews are seriously dinging each other IMO and I think both will be great buy lows when they are seperated.

He may have played more snaps than Likely early on, but he looked really tentative (by his standards) to me. I think it was the ankle injury more than the car wreck, but that whole narrative around the crash was weird. I thought he looked more assured later in the season.

I had been banging the drum for your bolded sentence to happen for three years. I'm saying that as a follower of the team - I realize it kind of sucks for FF. Put your best players out there, Baltimore.

What may affect the TE splits more than anything is how much Hopkins has left.

I agree, he still wasn't 100% the first 4 games or so. He was a decoy out there. Around game 5 he started to get back into shape and was closer to 100%. He missed training camp and preseason due to rehab and the car accident.

Plus, Andrews is only 29 (almost 30).

Malaki Starks says Isaiah Likely has been the toughest guy to cover in practice so far. Said he’s faster than he looks on TV.
Likely is a YAC monster, but he just doesn't have the soft hands Andrews has demonstrated year after year. Lamar relies on those hands to get him out of some bad spots.
Like in the conference championship division round playoff game?

Or maybe like his 80% catch rate in 2024?

Unfortunately, not when the season depended on it.

And yet, they didn't trust Likely in that position. Wonder why?

Probably too winded from leaping to snare the would-be game tying TD, that Andrews ruined with a dropped 2pt.

Why do you think that?
My uninformed, non NFL scout opinion is that they (or maybe just Lamar) trust Andrews to make that catch 9 times out of 10 and are not as comfortable with Likely on that type of route.
I don't think it's a matter of discomfort with Likely at all. Of course Jackson trusts Andrews - they became "NFL adults" together and they are best friends. That doesn't mean he (or Baltimore) doesn't trust Likely - he made a ton of huge plays for them last season. They ran a particular play for the two-pointer and it happened to be Andrews on that route (I think Likely caught the TD just before, though my memory is spotty these days).

They are both fine TEs and I fear - as a Ravens follower - that at least one of them will no longer be in Baltimore after the 2025 season. For FF players, separating them would be the best thing that could happen.

With Jonnu being dealt to the Steelers, the newest rumors are that Miami is looking at Andrews as a possible replacement. If that happens, where does Likely rank this year?

Maybe I just don't know football enough but wouldn't you pass the ball to whom is the most open regardless of who that player is?

As someone that has Likely and Andrews in dynasty, I very much welcome this move
Would be dancing in the streets for people sitting on both of them.

But I don't see it. I think that ship has sailed for the Ravens dealing Andrews, would have to be absolutely Godfather offered.

They were open to it back in March or April when they could have addressed depth at TE if they let him go. But now? He's a team leader, fully participated in all the OTA and mini-camps on a team that is urgent to make a SB push. Feel like the dye is kind of cast on him being on their roster this upcoming season, hard to see a trade that would make a contender like them view it as making sense. Can just get a comp pick for him after this year.

Sorry to be a party pooper, would love to see it, just don't think it's feasible.

I think it depends on the offer and how comfortable they are with the guys behind Likely. There were rumblings of the Smith trade pre-draft and it took them this long to get it done so I wouldn't count out the Andrews trade.

The first reports I saw of a Jonnu trade was well after the draft ended but regardless these two teams are in totally different places right now.

I can agree it would depend on the offer but again word this off-season was a 4th would have got it done. Now that he's fit under the cap, like I said they no longer have draft or FA to address depth, moved on to OTA/mini-camp where Andrews was present for all, Lamar/Decosta and Harbaugh all coming out saying he's going to have a good year and will be a huge help to them. Like I said, the dye is cast and I don't see any offers changing their minds. This is just wishful thinking.

Agree because of the bolded. Ravens are a Super Bowl contender and they are a better team with Andrews than without him, so why would they move him now? Plus, if he leaves next offseason, the Ravens are in line for a decent comp pick, so unless someone offered at least a 2nd, not enough of a benefit to do the deal now.

Ravens also had 11 draft picks in one of the better TE drafts in years and didn't take a single one. Nor have they drafted any since they took Likely & Kolar in 2022. As you said in another thread, I think it's more probable they resign both Likely and Andrews than deal either at this point. They aren't hurting for cap space either plus have multiple big salaries that could be restructured/extended (Lamar is $51MM base salary alone in 2026.)

With Jonnu being dealt to the Steelers, the newest rumors are that Miami is looking at Andrews as a possible replacement. If that happens, where does Likely rank this year?

If Miami wanted him, I the price would be something like Jaelen Phillips or Bradley Chubb plus. Something that potentially makes a difference THIS SEASON. I don't see Andrews being dealt for future picks unless its a 1.

No GM who isn't ready to get fired is trading a first round pick for Andrews.

I thought Andrews might be dealt - if he ever was - before/during the draft. I was wrong and that didn't happen. All 3 rostered TEs have expiring contracts. Baltimore has clearly, IMO, gone into "we're riding this one out" mode.

It's not like the Ravens to be out of contingency plans, but I honestly don't know how they are going to play this. I expect two of the three to come back (unless some dumb franchise like Jacksonville throws $10million/yr at Kolar).

If you thought he "might" be traded I'd not hang an L on yourself, only if you were going around thinking or saying it was sure to happen. It was always possible and no one with the Ravens denied it. That neither he or Goedert got dealt was surprising, and disappointing to me from a fantasy angle, especially when I heard the ask was not much for either of them.

I'm not sure on Kolar but just looking at their words and to some extent their actions it sounds like they have every intention of extending Likely. I've long said it's a bit of a delicate process however, with personality and locker room dynamics, to extend Likely while Andrews plays out this deal. Some vets take exception to that, Andrews has not come across that way at all but just the same I can see Ravens wanting to hold off on extending Likely till the season is over with the tag, or Andrews, as options if contract talks with Likely get out of hand.

The only way I would could see the Ravens moving Andrews would be if they they did extend Likely now and/or Andrews started to bristle about being a 30 year old with no guarantees left on an expiring contract. TBH most player of his stature would have a major issue with these things, especially when they throw the bag at his heir apparent and that he's not acted this way at all is a credit to the person.

Baltimore, Andrews, and Likely are all walking a tightrope here. I believe the TE franchise tag salary is around $15 million. I think Likely has the biggest hammer at this point.

The other person to keep in mind when winding through this maze is Lamar Jackson. The Ravens need to spread out the cap pain on his contract and - like it or not - he's gonna have some say in what happens.
