I think we should consider either g4+ to advance the pawn and potentially open a rank for our Rook to get into play.

Or

Bc6+ once they move the King, we take BxB and then get in Bd5 for a block on the doubled rooks which also protects against a8/a2 diagonals.

I like g4+ personally.

g4+ was what I was looking at earlier to give us a chance to actually get the rook involved in the game. I'll look at it more later tonight.

Rg5

allows us to trade our g4 pawn for his e5 pawn. Suddenly, we can actually use our rook.

This is looking pretty good.

I'm pretty sure we want to go BXB now (see above). Tell me if you see anything that I missed.

I think we'll be able to take the e5 pawn without him being able to take the g4 pawn back.

I see out only move here as Nc1. We are in trouble as our pieces are locking the Queen and are all jammed up themselves.

We lose the pawn on c3 and also the B after they go Qg1 and have the mate threat.

This game is lost unless anyone else sees something.

I am now (somewhat) back from my travels. I'll try and catch up a bit and supply some opinions. Sorry for dropping out for a while. While overseas my time to do anything besides our planned activities was just about non existent.

Please check page 1 to make sure I have the moves right.

Looking at this, if I have it right, moving Rg5 would lead directly to Bxc5, no? Actually, Bxc5++. Yeah, that's not good.

Whoops - missed a couple of moves in there for black.

After 33. Kg3, insert

Bxf2 Kxf2

Then the rook move looks a lot better.

That's a lot better. No immediate issues with the Rg5 move.

Obviously hoping for Bxc4 Rd1d7++.

Bc6 or Be8 are the only viable choices. I'd lean Be8, as otherwise they gain tempo by simply moving Rd6, as I expect they will at some point to help advance the pawn.

 
Bc6 looks like we either just waste a move and go Be8 next, or we wind up losing the bishop.

Be8 is my choice, as well.

It's going to be an interesting endgame.

b3+ This forces the K back or gives us a check after we take e5 next move.

I see advantages to both but lean towards b3+.

Thoughts?

 
Rxe5 gets rid of that pawn that has been trapping our g pawn all game, and allows us to go f5 at some point and have the pawns support each other.

I don't much care how many rooks he brings over to attack the a pawn, as long as we can keep protecting it with our bishop.

I lean toward Rxe5. It frees up f6 (our king is very restricted by this pawn).
