My GF hates Family Guy and she really liked this movie.
Don't think I've seen more then 10 episodes of Family Guy over the years. Actually enjoy them when I watch but they don't draw me in enough to watch on a regular basis. Find them to be a bit repetitive and not really into anything as a cartoon.TED is definetly the same type of humor but it benefits from the R-rating and live action. Like Family Guy but with the gloves off and hot girls that aren't cartoons.

I saw the trailer and TV spots, and I found it more like a derivative of Family Guy, in live action. FG can be funny at times (Stewy FTW), but most of the time I find it grating, and some jokes go waaay to long. The Pop Culture jokes are tiresome as well. But yeah, Kunis made me watch the Book of Eli. I could not stop thinking of a Mother/Daughter sandwich of Mila and Jennifer Beals after that.

wow, what a great movie. Absolute laugh fest from start to finish with lots of real laugh out loud moments and one liners.
My favorite line was when the kid asked Ted if he should wash his hands before he counts to 100 and Ted goes "No, and wtf kind of question is that anyways?"

Seen it and thought it was pretty good. They do a few cut scenes a la Family Guy so you can obviously see his influence but it's not overboard. Every once in awhile you realize you're watching a talking, wise-cracking teddy bear and it makes it even sillier. A silly, sometimes raunchy comedy, worth watching. 
And forget Kunis, Laura Vandervoort should've been the lead, crushes Mila. Disappointed she only had a minor role.

I don't go to the theater much but I did for this one. It was definitely funny hearing Peter/Stewie/Bryan in his voice at times. All in all it wasn't as great as I thought it'd be but it was worth the 24 bucks or whatever 2 movie tickets are going for nowadays. There are quite a few really hilarious moments in there. I'm kind of bummed I watched so many previews because it ruined a lot of the really funny parts.
I guess my only really fault with the movie was that it tried to take itself too seriously at times, and the "serious" parts were almost unwatchable, compared to something like Wedding Crashers where even when it's not being funny it's still enjoyable.
ETA1: Fight scenes were awesome
ETA2: Flash Gordon was just before my time so all those references to it didn't really do it for me.

Pretty good flick. Wife and I both liked it, and she's not really a "Family Guy" fan, either.
Weird, I am of the opposite opinion:1- I thought the fight scenes were terrible. Part of the reason I don't care much for family guy.2- I know nothing about Flash Gordon, but thought the party was the best part of the movie. Hilarious.It's a quality comedy, but agree with the guy who said the serious bits are terrible. I assume most people don't pay to watch a movie about a talking, crude teddy bear for a romantic comedy plot.'FreeBaGeL said:

Question... How many actors do they use from family guy in this? I know that Seth MacFarlane does many of the voices himself for Family guy but I've also seen the guy who does the voice for Joe Swanson and Mila Kunis does Meg's voice.

John just gets to work and he leaves his bosses office and the coworker is telling him about how he blacked out the night before and he's explaining about getting his ### kicked.

I just got back, this movie was great. It wasn't Dumb and Dumber laugh the entire movie funny, but definitely worth a see. Not deep or anything, but decent plot to keep it going. Would buy this on Blu Ray when it comes out. Without giving anything away, give yourself a Flash Gordon refresher before getting there so you can appreciate those jokes, they are damned funny. Well done, MacFarlane!

For those that aren't against slighting the system, you can pre-order the Ted dvd from amazon here Once your order is placed, you will receive your confirmation and then a few seconds later you will receive your Fandango code for $10 off a showing of Ted. Seems you can do it once per Amazon account. Once you receive the code, you can cancel the pre-order on Amazon. Makes this a VERY cheap theater experience.
Edit: You will not be charged anything as Amazon does not charge until the items ship and the DVD does not yet have a release date.
Edit two: Bought two matinee tickets today doing this. If your matinee price is $8.75 or less, this will be completely free. No reason to wait for DVD at this point!

This is one where the hype and trailers killed it. I would have been sore laughing so hard had I not seen any previews of this.
Anyway, it was still good, but not legendary. The scene at the end though is laugh out loud funny.
Came home and later that night rented Project X, which I kind of enjoyed more than Ted.

This was a lot funnier than I expected. The scene of them doing coke "what's the special on Tuesday nights?, do we let Jews in" etc., Ted describing Boston chicks having sex and the last scene which everyone mentioned was hilarious.
This is a must see because there will be a ton of people referencing the one-liners for a while.

The people who dont find this movie funny are the same types who, when you watch a stand up comedian, and everyone in the room is laughing...except for that one person , who sits in stone faced silence.

My only complaint: When your teddy bear's hooker takes a #### on the floor, there's no way you make the GF clean it up. Not to mention if she's as hot as Kunis.

I'm not a Family Guy fan at all and I loved this movie. Its the funniest thing I've seen in the theater since either the South Park movie or There's Something About Mary (I think Step Brothers is the best comedy of the last decade but I didn't see that in the theater).

I also think why people don't like Family Guy is because of the drawn out pauses and letting jokes hang super long...I think it is funny, but I can see why it would not be humor for everyone. I didn't think Ted really did that at all, so I think the only thing in common between the two is the voice and the crude humor.

Watched it last night and thought there were some great one liners, we watched the unedited version so not sure what wasn't in the original release. The part when he said he f'd her with a parsnip last week and sold the parsnip to a family with four small children made me laugh harder than I have in a long time watching a movie.
