Reporting video of 3 men and woman placing IED
Updatecopy/paste:
The Associated Press reported on Wednesday that recently-found surveillance footage shows multiple suspects placing an explosive device in New Orleans, citing an intelligence bulletin from the Louisiana State Police.
The footage, which has not been released to the public, allegedly shows three men and one woman placing one improvised explosive device (IED) in the French Quarter. Authorities believe that the group placed multiple IEDs in the area.
Suspects hid the devices, which were wired for remote control, within coolers. Authorities later found a remote control was discovered inside the vehicle that
That was the four folks that were suspected (and the FBI later cleared) of planting IEDs. So sorry Google didn't work for you.I did a google internet search over the last 24 hours for "raids on suspected terrorist hideouts occurring now" and guess what? The top result is this topic. This is a tragedy and hits home as it's my home town. Perpetrator has been named as Shamsud Din Jabbar. The truck come over the Mexican border a few days ago (WTF). Multiple police raids on suspected terrorist hideouts occurring now.

OK, thanks. It was probably early reporting on what the president-elect said very early today.

Just as a note. Damn good choice. I'm hungry now.Mrs and I were just at "Mother's Restaurant" in New Orleans
Mrs and I were just at "Mother's Restaurant" in New Orleans the week before Thanksgiving, we were only in town about 3 days for a conference, walked along Canal St
I was going to launch a thread early on NYD about this topic when I first saw what happened.
-But I was also having a good time with the Mrs sipping mimosas and I thought let someone else be the one to share this with everybody
I guess I didn't want to think about both the New Orleans and Vegas terrorist acts, tried to shield my wife from hearing about this until much later on NYD
Sugar Bowl postponed 1 Day, not sure that makes a big difference but it makes those who put the Sugar Bowl together feel better, OK sure why not?
These criminal/terrorists want to disrupt our way of life here in America and I don't like to give in.
They want to stop the party so let's all show up and celebrate in greater numbers
I hate that they do these things and spark fear in everyone

LVMPD Provides Update on Cyber Truck Explosion Investigation
This afternoon, Sheriff Kevin McMahill addressed the media regarding the cyber truck explosion in front of the Trump Hotel. Here’s what we know so far:
?? Timeline:
The truck arrived in Las Vegas around 7:30 AM and drove up and down Las Vegas Boulevard for about an hour.
It pulled into the valet area of the Trump Hotel before the explosion occurred.
?? What Investigators Found:
The truck’s bed contained gasoline tanks, camping fuel, and large firework mortars.
The truck was rented in Colorado via Turo and tracked through Tesla charging stations.
?? Injuries:
Seven people were injured, with two briefly hospitalized and now released.
?? Investigation Details:
No suspect information will be released until confirmed.
This is a joint investigation with federal, state, and local authorities. Investigators are working to identify the suspect and determine if this was an act of terrorism.
Current findings suggest this was an isolated incident with no indication of a larger plan.
?? LVMPD is maintaining increased officer presence across the community, including the Las Vegas Strip. There is no known current threat to public safety.
We will provide updates as new details emerge. Thank you for your cooperation and vigilance.
A definitive connection between the New Orleans and Las Vegas attacks has not been found at this time, the FBI said on Thursday, adding that it is still “very early” in the investigation.
“As you know, there’s also an FBI investigation in Las Vegas. We are following up on all potential leads and not ruling everything out. However, at this point, there is no definitive link between the attack here in New Orleans and the one in Las Vegas. And again, I’ll preface as I close, I’ll preface everything with what I started with in the beginning, which was this is very early in an investigation like this,” deputy assistant director of the agency’s counterterrorism division Christopher Raia said.
The suspect in the deadly truck attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans early Thursday is likely to be a lone wolf terrorist with no known accomplices, the FBI announced at a press conference.
“We do not assess at this point that anyone else is involved in this attack except for Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the subject you’ve already been briefed on,” said Deputy Assistant Christopher Raia with the bureau’s Counterterrorism Division.
The FBI announcement is a reversal from a statement less than 24 hours earlier, in which Assistant Special Agent in Charge Alethea Duncan said, “We do not believe that Jabbar was solely responsible. We are aggressively running down every lead, including those of his known associates.”
Investigators had been looking into whether others were responsible for placing improvised explosive devices separate from the truck they say Shamsud-Din Jabbar used to run over the crowd on New Year’s Day.
In the immediate hours after the attack, the FBI initially pursued indications the suspect may have had assistance, and officials said they did not believe he was “solely responsible” for the attack.
But so far, those leads haven’t turned out to be accurate, one of the sources said.
Mayor LaToya Cantrell said bollards were not up because they were still under construction. She said the project was nearly finished, with completion expected before New Orleans hosts the Super Bowl in February.
“My goal is to be as forthcoming as possible with you on what we’ve uncovered so far. First and foremost, let me be very clear about this point, this was an act of terrorism,” he said.
Have you been able to figure out whether they served at the same time at that Army post? I haven't found it.LV Cybertruck bomber was also an Army vet and apparently served at the same post as the NO terrorist.

During the 10 a.m. hour on Wednesday, Fox reported that the New Orleans suspect’s truck crossed the US border in Eagle Pass, Texas “two days ago.” Some of the right-wing network’s coverage explicitly said “the suspect” drove across the border, leaving viewers with the impression that a foreigner might be responsible for the deadly carnage. In fact, the New Orleans attack suspect was a US citizen and Army veteran. But those facts weren’t publicly established at the time Fox aired the faulty information.
Fox tried to walk back its incorrect report about an hour and a half later. The network said the truck used in the attack was actually in Eagle Pass nearly two months ago, not two days ago. More importantly, the truck was being driven by someone else at that time – it was available on the car rental app Turo – so the detail about the border was completely irrelevant.
Yeah, seems unlikely they were in the same unit, and possibly not even on the same post. NO guy was HR type, LV guy was supposedly special forces/infantry.If they were on the same unit then maybe there is a connection but Ft. Not correct - I stated the truck came over the border, not the terrorist. As far as I know that finding hasn't been contradicted, but I'm certainly willing to edit that if it turns out it wasn't correct (it was reported so at the time).
Notable that the original post in this thread also contains misinformation regarding the New Orleans terrorist crossing the border. Errors made in the “fog of war” are inevitable but hopefully Sand will edit his OP that mistakenly tied this terrorist attack to border insecurity.
I have no problem with people NOT correcting previous posts as new info comes in. Newer posts have the newer info... Otherwise that's a lot of editing (unnecessary imo), plus it's interesting to me to see the arc of the story, mistakes and all.I appreciate you for correcting the misinformation. It worked fine. I too find the mistakes interesting, if only for what they reveal. That said, I’d prefer accuracy, full stop. And in the event that inaccuracies occur, we should allow for some grace as long as the inaccuracies were based on good faith efforts. From APYikes... NYT email update just said the LV driver shot himself in the head before the explosion.
For a Green Beret he really seems to have made a hash of that whole thing.Yikes... NYT email update just said the LV driver shot himself in the head before the explosion.
Seems logical, in a way. It's hard to believe that he could have seriously expected that truck explosion to do serious damage. More like a "look at me" suicide like Aaron Bushnell.Yikes... NYT email update just said the LV driver shot himself in the head before the explosion.

Love this post.I personally prefer seeing these kind of threads and media with who/what/where/when info... Might be slower arriving and less interesting, but is at least as factually correct as possible. AP and Reuters both generally leave the "why" out of their reporting of breaking news.
I'm not trying to be overly argumentative here and I haven't been able to follow much of this story, but isn't Turo the prominent owner to renter company/app out there? In other words, isn't Turo like the Uber or the vrbo for vehicle rentals from a private owner?I mean, it is possible it is just coincidence, but these factors make it odd:
That's a helluva lot of coincidence. No direct connection found that I've seen, but very, very odd.
- Same day
- Both military
- Stationed at same post
- Rented from same company
