The world's introduction to the immense talents of Edward Norton - what an unexpected transformation at the end. Thank god there was no social media back then to spoil it.82. Primal Fear (1996)
Directed by: Gregory Hoblit
Starring: Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Edward Norton
Synopsis: A teenager accused of murder offers a defense of multiple personalities.
If you want justice go to a whorehouse. If you want to get ****ed, go to court. -Richard Gere as Martin Vail.
This is a terrific and scary courtroom thriller. Gere has never been better as the cynical attorney Martin Vail. But the real star is Norton is his debut role as the killer with multiple personalities. Or maybe he’s faking…
Such a great movie. We're into the top 20 already?
Tbf, I'd been questioning the inclusion of a bunch of these so far.Such a great movie. We're into the top 20 already?
Think people will say that throughout - taking an entire decade like the 90's will produce a stellar list.
I'm good with the placement here but I need to revisit it one day. Score is incredible.
It would probably be top 5 for me. Everything about it was outstanding including the twist at the end.Primal Fear too low. Norton is absolutely amazing in his role. One of the few movies that was better than the book it was based on.
83. The Last of the Mohicans (1993)
Directed by: Michael Mann
were those all Disney?I can understand movies like Tarzan or Hercules or Pocahontas but
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Lion King
Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Pixar was not owned by Disney in the 1990s. And another was released under the Touchstone label, rather than Disney. Not sure I’d really count that as Disney animation.I can understand movies like Tarzan or Hercules or Pocahontas but
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Lion King
Toy Story
Toy Story 2
You’re making a mistake in your assumptions. Two of those films are Pixar and one is Touchstone.I can understand movies like Tarzan or Hercules or Pocahontas but
Beauty and the Beast

The Lion King
Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Sorry. I really enjoyed LOTM but apparently not as much as everyone here. For me it was one of those uneven films in which the second half (after they escape the fort) was a bit of a let down. The first half is great, the second half just so-so. That’s why I ranked it where I did.Mulan > Last of the Mohicans?
Madness.
I agree with everything except the book bit.Primal Fear too low. Norton is absolutely amazing in his role. One of the few movies that was better than the book it was based on.
I listened to the book on tape (actual cassette) read by Will Paton when I drove across the country the first time. It was an excellent version, and I agree. Better than the movie. But Norton was great.I agree with everything except the book bit.Primal Fear too low. Norton is absolutely amazing in his role. One of the few movies that was better than the book it was based on.
The reveal in the book was much more startling and better prepared. More time to set it up I guess.
Been awhile since i read the book or watched the movie, but i read the book first and remember being disappointed in the movie reveal. As amazing as Norton was.
There are two sequels to the novel but I’ve never read them. Probably should. I’ve enjoyed other stuff by that author.I listened to the book on tape (actual cassette) read by Will Paton when I drove across the country the first time. It was an excellent version, and I agree. They were okay but not great. Gere's character turns prosecutor and basically hunts Stampler. They "jump the shark" quickly. There are two sequels to the novel but I’ve never read them. They are ludicrous cash grabs.
Its almost like he was doing a nod and wink to the reader with preposterous story lines and character development
The first one was well written, engaging and shocking. Sequels are little more than toilet paper.
Wow, great. Something to look forward to.about 70 of the films that will be listed are not in the same stratosphere as Last of the Mohicans.
And I will be here to remind everybody of that fact every time a Mulan comes up.
Pull yourself together Timmy.
You liked the Pride & Prejudice part more than the John Wick part? You're nothing if not consistent.Sorry. I really enjoyed LOTM but apparently not as much as everyone here.
