This was the height of the disco expolosion, plus there were a ton of one-hit AM pop on the charts.

It should be interesting.

Boo - can't I have my retro #1 pick from the 1991 draft????

Something else was happening that year in the music scene. Can't quite put my finger on it

Okay, we'll move Zilla to the end. Someone PM Thunder.
zilla said in the 91 thread he would be back in a hour or so. that was almost a hour 1/2 ago. he should be back soon. maybe you should just skip over him, but keep his place, then he can pick when he returns.

Makes sense - maybe we can do the same for Thunder.

Okay. Done. Go, Junior.

Wow, I don't like the pressure of the first overall pick.

I'm going to go with...

Kansas- Carry On Wayward Son
i have a list of over 20 artists.kansas was not on it.

eta: not saying it doesn't kinda rock, just didn't even hit the radar.

this is a deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep year.

1.02--Bee Gee--"Stayin' Alive"

The iconic song of the disco era, by a group that could do almost any kind of song in any kind of style from the late '60s into the '90s. The opening shot of Travolta strolling down a Brooklyn street swinging a paint can in Saturday Night Fever while "Stayin' Alive" said it all for the late 70s.

The song was released in December 1977, and even though it hit #1 in 1978, it's still the classic song of the year.

1.01 Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the U.K.
 At number one, I would have thought about this one, but "Dogs" probably would have won out. I'm a sucker for Floyd.

It didn't take long for disco to make an appearance. Unlike the '79 draft, when disco was dying a slow death, '77 was an awesome year for disco. I was also surprised at all the great rock albums released in '77. This is going to be a diverse draft.

about a million different ways to go, but i gotta go with:

Iggy Pop - "Lust for Life"

yes, the song that now hawks cars and cruises, but many of my generation were introduced to the song by those crazy kids running from the cops down the streets of edinburg in the movie trainspotting
