The 1977 Song Draft (1 Viewer)

Is this one fair game?

Boston - "More Than a Feeling"

I know it's overplayed and cheesy, but I'll take it in the eleventh.
I think this album and single was 1976?
But "Foreplay/Long Time" was '77?
Yep.
Whatever. Wiki lists it as a '77 single. I'll pick something else.
Wiki?!! You be new here!!! :lmao:  :gunblast:
n00bsor! lol
the horrible grammar was unintentional :smallbag:

Well, I was going to go a different route and go for the popular vote, but screw it.

Since I was a drummer in HS, and an astronomy geek. What better song to :nerd: out to:

Rush --- "Cygnus X-1"

Now to continue on with my crass song drafting. This one is for the ladies, because what could be sexier than Lemmy singing about a dildo? :excited:

Motorhead --- "Vibrator"

Check my heart before you start,

I don't wanna blow no fuse,

New battery, is that for me?

That's something I could really use,

Power surge I get the urge,

To do my legendary thing,

The stars in your eyes don't tell no lies,

I know your bells are starting to ring,

'Cos I'm a Vibrator,

Pleased to make a start,

Vibrator, with a powerpack for a heart

Vibrator! Vibrator!

10.11 John Madden's Lunchbox - Generation X - "Your Generation"

11.07 John Madden's Lunchbox - The Stranglers - "London Lady"
Please amend to

10.11 John Maddens Lunchbox - The Stranglers - "London Lady"

11.07 John Maddens Lunchbox - Donna Summer - "I Feel Love"

TIA

You're right. Sorry. Changed the wrong one.

That was my original choice for my wedding song, but for some reason, my wife wouldn't go for it.

That's beautiful. Lemmy sure has mastered the art of subtlety.

The lyrics are funny enough- makes it better thinking about Lemmy singing it.

i think the best part is that he's singing it in first person from the vibrator's pov.

So, for the next draft, what should we do? Has this format run its course? How could we change it up?
i'd like to try the album draft.i know killernerd tried to start one on wednesday, but we could do the signup here, and pm guys who were in other drafts?

No list of songs from '77 would be complete for me, without at least one from The Hottest Band in the World.

Hard part is that 3 of my all-time favorite are still available.

Very tempted to set a precedent and make this the first time a studio version, and a live version of the same song were taken in the same year.

Can't pass this up though, sitting out there at pick #190

12.03 KISS - "Calling Dr. Love"

:P   :topcat:

Uncle Humuna

1.15 Aerosmith - "Walk This Way"

2.03 Boz Scaggs - "Lido Shuffle"

3.15 Santana - "She's Not There"

4.03 Parliament - "Flashlight"

5.15 The Grateful Dead - "Estimated Prophet"

6.03 Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Freebird" (live)

7.15 Eric Clapton - "The Core"

8.03 Queen - "Tie Your Mother Down"

9.15 Bob Marley & The Wailers - "Exodus"

10.03 Weather Report - "Birdland"

11.15 The Sex Pistols - "Bodies"

12.03 KISS - "Calling Dr. Love"

KillerNerd's final list:

AC/DC -- Whole Lotta Rosie

KISS -- Love Gun

Heart -- Barracuda

Ram Jam -- Black Betty

Steve Miller Band -- Jungle Love

Joe Tex -- Ain't Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman)

Lynyrd Skynyrd -- That Smell

Ted Nugent -- Wang Dang Sweet Poontang

Thin Lizzy -- Dancing in the Moonlight (It Caught Me in It's Spotlight)

Judas Priest -- Dissident Aggressor

Rush -- Cygnus X-1

Motorhead -- Vibrator

:pics: Probably my best draft yet...

Oh, and yes, Rock 'n Roll Over was released in '76,but this single peaked in '77:

Don't want to step on toes from the other drafts. Our idea was slightly different, and the draft wouldn't take 3 damn weeks though

This is actually the studio version (released as a single),and I believe the other 2 picks (Love Gun & Christine Sixteen) were meant to be the studio versions off of Love Gun

(the song I was talking about taking was the studio version of Shock Me) . . .

Gotcha - I kind of like the live versions of all the drafted songs vis-a-vis the studio versions.

band draft by decade???

i can't believe i haven't dipped in to live cuts yet, with as much as i've been struggling to find songs...

The Beatles - "A Hard Day's Night" (Live)

off the album "live at the hollywood bowl"

I don't know if I've ever seen a "Band Draft" done. I say, if you're going to do it, do it big and make it "All-time."

you're probably right, there would be too much overlap doing it by decade.

Interesting Idea. That sucker will have to be about 30-40 rounds long. At least there won't be any #####ing about release dates!!!

Good question. I guess, since they changed their name from Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson Starship to Starship, all three would be eligible. Hell, I don't know.

i need a ruling before we start the band draft:

jefferson airplane and jefferson starship, two seperate bands, yes?

and htf do we score menudo? do we specify a certain year/version?

Yes, it would be a large undertaking. I assume we'd include solo artists, as well.

Every incarnation of Menudo would be draftable, although, I wouldn't recommend drafting any.
