The 2009 K Thread (1 Viewer)

I've been looking quite abit a kicker matchups, and I'm a little perplexed by the rankings this week. A few players seem just off to me. Especially interested as I chimed in here with how weather will affect this, with a few "stud" kickers playing in bad weather this week.

Specifically Cundiff at k1 baffles me.

Succop at 20/17 and Prater at 15/8 are a bit puzzling. Both play teams that give up a ton of pts (k pts allowed by teams link) (4th and 5th most on average) to the kicker, and both are playing in downright balmy weather (with Prater getting the "mile high air" advanatge".

anyone else have any thoughts?

Do the K #'s get tweaked throughout the week? If not what does HERMAN do?

Game conditions in Baltimore and Philly are expected to be fine when the games begin. So I think Akers and Cundiff remain good to very good plays given how good Akers has been all season and how good Cundiff has been since joining the Ravens. I would only worry about kickers if the winds were real strong. That doesn't appear to be the case for either of those games.

extreme cold makes kicking harder to begin with. The blizzard may not be over either. Weatherman are only so accurate.

I am a bit relieved that they are moving the kickoff. I assume it will allow the worst of the storm to pass, and then ground crews can uncover the field. I expect normal field conditions albiet it should be very very cold! brrrrr.

I don't think that wind is so much an issue after a storm passes as much as before.

I am hopeful for Akers and Cundiff.

We can get 7 pages of threads on anything ocho tweets about, but Kicker discussions go nowhere. They are 1/9 the points and a great one/crappy one can make or break your team.

Kickers aren't sexy. :lmao:

Unless it's a thread about cutting them.

Where are you getting these numbers from? The wk 15 kickermania PDF doesn't have cundiff at 1.
Dodds has Cundiff at 1. He also had hartley at 2.

Thinking of picking up Cundiff. Snow will not be a factor, but I'm wondering if the wind could be.

K. Brown has ideal conditions, but he just seems to stink. In my league, misses are -2.

Nugent...is this guy any good? The matchup is great.

If I'm reading that correctly Nugent is 2 for 6 in place of Rackers. Not that good. Very K. Brown-like.I have M. Crosby in the lineup right now, but he's been killing me lately and he's playing in Pitt. Tempted to pick up Cundiff. If the wind is 10mph or less, I think that's the call.

Chicago at Baltimore - Weather AlertSummary: A high of 31 with winds from 15 to 25 MPH
pass. cold/snow and now gusting winds, with resting winds in the 15-25 range.deciding nugent vs prater. Especially with Frye playing I see Oakland reverting a bit, and could easily see 10-14 pts (2-3 fgs and 4-6 xps) in a blowout.I like Nugent as the detroit D has a lot of bend in it. Seems to stop folks deep(thus leading to the big # of FG's vs them this year)

gotta make a decision between kris brown and mike nugent .... both of these guys seem erratic at times so i think i'm going to flip a coin

Chicago at Baltimore - Weather Alert

Summary: A high of 31 with winds from 15 to 25 MPH
Where did you see that? According to the Weather Channel's hour-by-hour forecast, the winds are expected to be between 14-16 mph throughout the game.Link
Current conditions:http://weather.wjz.com/US/MD/Baltimore.html

Perhaps the wind forecast is to pick up later in the day
Perhaps but according to The Weather Channel's hour-by-hour forecast it doesn't look like the winds will be anything to be too concerned about.

"Hey Nick Folk... you're terrible and missed a FG against the Saints that almost cost us the game. You're FIRED!"

......

"So who should we replace him with?"

"Let's get someone who would never put his team in that position!"

"This Shaun Suisham kid looks promising. Why'd his last team can him?"

"He missed a chipshot FG against the Saints two weeks ago that cost the Redskins the game."

"But it was the Redskins, right?"

"Right..."

"Terrific! He's costing our division rivals wins already. Singlehandedly. Hire that man!"

"Ooooooooooooooookay."

They just hired him for the Redskins game so they can learn all of the signs and plays for Washington. Truly a masterstroke by the Cowboys. That Wade is really flexing the grey matter now.

I heard the same thing. I am thinking of dropping him for Graham. I don't want him to tweak something. It's not worth the risk.

Tynes and his hammy were limited in practice today.
