No, my wife has a regular phone on our account and I was going to try and use my 3G with her sim card. Not sure if that will work or not but I figure it is worth a shot.

If you order it online do it from AT&T not apple.
I initially ordered from apple, was told it would ship in 3 weeks and then it would take another week to get it.
Cancelled that and ordered from AT&T.
I ordered on Saturday, July 3rd. It was processed on the 4th and shipped on the 5th.
It will be here either tonight or tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

ok, well I got online and it says 7-14 days to process and ship. That's better than 3 weeks plus no hassling with all the nonsense of the store.

I'm not sure how to simplify that more, but if you ordered from appl and it says it will take 3 weeks before it even ships, cancel that order and order from AT&T, it's much faster.

They're the ones who dictate the terms of the upgrades, you'd think they'd be the only ones to do it through if anything, but I'm not surprised they'd say that.I was blown away that AT&T processes and shipped my order over a holiday weekend.Bonus points right there.

I came here looking for the answer to "how can I get my iphone4 the quickest and with the least amount of hassle?" and I guess I found it: AT&T online order.
Try #1: Got a pin from Radio Shack on Day 1 of the pre-order. They are still waiting to get their first sets of phones. Now they tell me its a bundle, meaning you also have to buy the Apple Care and case. They can F off.
Try #2: Got on the waiting list at the local Apple store for 2 phones. So, they get 1 phone in and tell me its there. They can't give me ANY idea of when the other phone will come in and they can't understand why I want to process them at the same time. I'm about 35 minutes from the store. (I would have to pick up 1 of the phones by 9pm tonight)
I think I'm just going to bypass the hassle of #2 and order them both online. I took a look real quick and it seemed easy. Couldn't really get it to order 2 phones at one time, so I'm not sure if that's possible...or how others may have done that.
But if I can order today and get the phones in a few days, I'd be happy with that.

I believe ATT online has them in stock right now. It will say limited stock, shipping in 7-14 days, but a lot of people seem to be getting it within days. 16gb version quicker than the 32gb version, for now at least.

Mine's being delivered tomorrow.I ordered Saturday...they actually shipped it overnight, for no charge. So if you order today, I can see it being here by Thursday/Friday at the latest.

Yeah I think the 32GB version came into stock sometime over the weekend. ATT opened up online sales on 6/29. People that ordered the 16GB version that day got it within days. Everyone that ordered 32GB showed backordered until this morning, per macrumors and howardforums.I'd go the online route, depending on the crowd at your local Apple store. I was at the mall yesterday and popped into the Apple store to check out a Powerbook for my wife. It's a zoo right now because of the iphone.

Although I do need to venture through there to check out a case, which I am dreading.Although I am admittedly very curious to test this phone out myself sans case, in my area, and see how it affects coverage/signal strength.Just remember to buy the hands-only version. My buddy ordered one from Apple three weeks ago, he said he'd get his shipped by July 14th so I figured I'd wait until ATT re-released online ordering. Ordered the morning of and it said back-ordered. Figured I would drive to the local store and check if they still had any on site, 10 left. Got one, canceled the other order. iPhone 4 so much better than the 3G, I couldn't care less what anyone else says.

I got mine on 6/29 and they sold out later that day. So what you were told was probably true. Just be thankful that you didn't order yours from Apple, it would be 3-4 weeks as opposed to 5-10 days. But I know how you feel man, I couldn't be without mine for 5 hours.porkins said:

After getting over the annoyance of 'having' to have it, I like it. It's a nice clean look/fit.Only beef is the old USB wires don't fit since the end that goes into the phone is a bit fatter than the newer ones.

So radio shack just called me and told me they have an iPhone for me 
But I'm an hour away from the store and can't get there before 5 and the guy doesn't know if he can hold it for me because his boss wants it sold by 4pm
Then he said they are requiring a purchase of apple care and an accessory. Is that a hustle?? Are either worth it? They still are giving me $200 for my 3GS.
Should I go through them if they hold it and pay for those extras because they are giving me money for my old phone or should I say #### them and order from AT&T and sell on eBay? What's the going rate on eBay now anyway?

Here's some case/skin info:
If you're looking to get ZAGGS check out BSE also. Almost the exact same material and application method but cheaper.
A lot of people like the above for back and side protection, but they don't like the piece that goes on the screen. Being "grippy" on the back and sides is great, but so hot for the screen. These get really high marks for being slick and not effecting screen sensitivity. Plus they go on dry instead of wet. You can also buy these here. Get the ULTRA CRYSTAL.
A lot of the popular cases available for the 3GS are still in production for the 4. We'll start seeing these end of July/early August. I'm not a big fan of the cases they have at Best Buy right now, but they do have the widest selection. This Switcheasy Nude looks really nice but not sure what happens if you drop your phone on its face. The white and clear ones look sweet.
