I think this was asked earlier but I can't find it. Is there more resale value in a 4S that's running the most recent ios6 or the new 7? Does it matter?

unlocked and jailbroken phones usually command a $50 premium. Now that unlocking is so easy that premium may have diminished quite a bit. I haven't checked lately.

In general if you want to sell your phone in the future do NOT update OS on each drop.

They may drop a 614 j/b at the same time as the 700 for legacy devices. 614 j/b is in beta now.

I've never unlocked or jbed a phone. I just put it on eBay usually as is. If I'm reading your post right, the previous software is more desirable (+$50) because whoever buys it can jb it more easily. Is that right?

One annoying thing I have noticed is that now if my phone is locked it disconnects from wifi. That's a problem since often I am at clients were cell phone reception is terrible to non existent but often they have wifi. When the phone locks no wifi means no notifications of messages/emails. That's a problem.

I was having trouble with a serious "keyboard lag" after the update (iPhone 4).

How to fix it:

Settings > iCloud > Documents&Data

Toggle the switch to disable. WALA

once you switched it off, it worked ok. I have a 4 and will upgrade eventually

Let me say this the $50 premium for non current IOS really dates back to the days where you needed a j/b to unlock. Now that you don't need a j/b to unlock the premium may have shifted to unlocked phones. J/B really doesn't mean all that much to people despite the fact that upwards of 15-20% of IOS users worldwide have used a j/b at one time or another.

I'm not even sure you can run a j/b unlock right now. I haven't looked into it lately.

Saw something cool where you can use the panorama function on the phone to create your own lock screen. I would imagine you could do something similar with wallpaper.

I don't like 7, I don't mind change in general but the look is to pastel or something. I don't like the password thing at the beginning of unlocking, it just slows me down and is annoying. It may not allow someone to use my phone as easy if they steal it but how does that get my phone back to me?

Sometimes we just change to change and the amount of work that goes into that change doesn't equal the outcome.

I'm sure I'll like it more in time, but I doubt it'll be worth the effort that it took to create it.

Meh. Still getting used to the changes. I like the new search/url bar in safari, but it seems like it used to recognize my bookmarks and favorite sites faster.

you can turn the password off, it was always that way...

Yep. I think it just changed to default after the update. I changed mine back to 15 minutes like I used to have it. But you can also turn it off.

It should be simple, that's what I did when I removed the iOS 7 beta a few months back. Wasn't a big deal.

Huh, that's interesting, thought it would work. I just googled it and read "you could uninstall the beta version of iOS 7, there is no way to remove final public version of iOS 7".

yeah, but there is Best Buy and Wal Mart and Att store. Apple stores are not the only ones that sell these things

After installing 7 on my wife's iphone I couldn't get facetime or imessages to login. Ended up backing up her phone, erase everything and then doing a restore to backup to fix it. Kind of annoying but it did fix the problem.

I didn't stay up once I realized the release was at midnight PST. I happened to wake up an hour after launch. I am at the airport now so being at a store wouldn't have worked.

I was pleasantly surprised to get the phone for "free". I thought they charge me at least $200.
