The Apple iPhone Thread (6 Viewers)

Apple wants the iPhone to be more affordable. The existing 8GB iPhone 3G will remain -- for $99.
RIM and Palm just shat themselves.
Friend went to buy a Palm today and it was sold out.OK . . . so how bad is AT&T?
Fine in my area. Your results may vary. :lmao:
but they cant support picture and video messaging?? (yet)
June 17th. You have 9 days left to play this card. Enjoy!

So they pimp out the tethering feature and brag about how many countries they are active in, but don't mention the U.S. by name. So... no tethering in the U.S.?

Card? I'm debating on buying this or not and want all the info. What's your problem? It looked like MMS may not be supported by ATT until August based on the transcript, no? And they didnt really say regarding video on the 3GS, right? Just trying to make sure I am reading this the same way everybody else is.

Sorry, just been hearing the same complaint (along with copy/paste) for two years and it's on my last nerve. My bad.

Not yet...AT&T is holding it up. Apple has made the functionality available, and many others have enabled it, but AT&T still seems to be refusing to do so, in addition to refusing to do MMS stuff.

(2) Requires new two-year AT&T wireless service contract, sold separately to qualified customers; credit check required; must be 18 or older. For non-qualified customers, including existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G, the price with a new two-year agreement is $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB).
:goodposting: so it will be $599 if my contract isn't up????

lots of irony here. nothing personal gs, but it's pretty :goodposting: to hear fanboys complaining about being tired of hearing about something.

Looks like MMS in August. Why the hold up though? I'd buy it the day it comes out anyway, but I will unleash holy hell on somebody if they dont have it up by Sept. 1

rims already practically giving their devices away to enterprisesall about the carriers

until apple opens it up past ATT I dont see a huge influx at enterprises

I still dont understand why they are limiting to just ATT. how is that a good financial decision?
My company transitioning over to ATT from Verizon/Sprint. shrug

Unsure...there's no reason apple has anything to do with it though, as they show it available in other countries. Seems to be solely a problem with AT&T. ...maybe they haven't figured out how to milk every penny out of it yet.

Review iPhone pricing. As an existing customer, you qualify for the following iPhone pricing: You'll be able to choose the iPhone you want a little later in the process.$99.00* — 8GB iPhone 3G (black)$199.00* — 16GB iPhone 3G S (black or white)$299.00* — 32GB iPhone 3G S (black or white)

On like a waiting list? Is that better to do than just order on-line?How difficult is it to change over from Verizon to ATT and keep your number?

Iphone 3GS :Improved battery life. Now up to 9 hours of internet surfing, 10 hours of video, 30 hours of audio, 12 hours of 2g talk-time, 5 hours of 3g talk-time.
;)
Always overstated their battery life and sure this means with WIFI turned off...
Up to 5 hours 3G talk time, 9 hours of WiFI internet.
Can you do multiple things on the new I-phone...use internet / talk ./ open multiple programs?

I love all these Verizon snobs.ATT is fine depending on the area, just like Verizon is fine depending on the area. They both claim to have the best coverage, fewest dropped calls etc.But the bottom line is there is going to be more people #####ing then complimenting.I've had 0 problems with ATT where I live, and I know my friends on Verizon have had loads of issues.Give it a rest with the "Verizon is the messiah" crap, it's nauseating.
I could be wrong but if you all of your family and friends are on verizon it pays to stick with them
That. Or any other carrier for that matter. Most of mine are on T-mobile

looks like the site is getting bombarded, I'm always leary of "pre-ordering" anything, it always seems to arrive days (weeks?) later then when the same product hits stores.

16G vs 32G just affects the actual storage capacity of media (music/video), correct? That doesnt matter regarding the performance of the actual phone, right? I just bought a 120G iPod, so dont see me needing storage on a phone really.
correct.
Thank you. So unless I intend on having a #### load of music and movies, 16G should be just fine? And I could always move stuff from iPod to iPhone and vice versa, correct?

ATT claimed it would put too big of a strain on their network, IIRC.

That's right. 16GB should be just fine. & yes you can decide which device to add to.

Correct. Not directly from iPod to iPhone, but by managing both libraries with iTunes.

Eff them. The 30 bucks a month I pay for the friggin' data plan should buy me enough bandwidth to use my phone as the server for FBG. :lmao:

Or you can just buy an external USB Hardrive and download the ORB live app and you can access your media anywhere.I have 200GB of music that I can access anytime with my Iphone.

I'm a new iPod guy too, so I'm going to have to learn still I guess. I should probably get an external HD for iTunes/back-up.

apple will tell you the price. People on this message board are getting different prices

Just ordered the 3 GS, 16G, Black. $212.93 after taxes. On the site it said delivery by June 19. On my email receipt, however, it says it ships that date and delivery by June 24. :lmao:

was there an instore pickup option?
the way it was worded made me think I had to wait in line and take my chances like everybody else that day, and that I was just pre-approving my ATT contract. I may have Fd that one up though.

I agree. Not defending ATT, just passing on their excuse. I'm assuming they plan on expanding their network this summer for MMS in August.
