Wait so you get 4 months worth of credit for your 6 total of $108

And then your pay $27 a month for the 7? How long do you pay that fee? Max and Min amount of time?
No, you get 4 months worth of credit on your 4th bill (total of 108), and then you get one monthly credit ($27/m) each month till the 24th month - at which point you fully own the 7.

You're pretty much buying the 7 over 24 months at 0% interest ($27x24 = 650), but they give you $650 worth of credits over that time.  So it's a wash.  I'm trying to find out what the catch it.  Why is my iphone 6 worth $650 to them when at most I'd get $350 for it on the open market?

Your first credit comes in the fourth month, but for an amount equal to 4 months of credit.  Than you get a $27 credit each month for the remainder of the two years.  While paying $27 a month for the phone for 2 years.  Which essentially cancels out paying for the phone.
Wow if that's all it is seems pretty legit.

Can't speak for Verizon, but AT&T will charge me a couple of months before trade ins are official.  I get reimbursed for those months and get 1 free 32 GB 7 and 1 128 GB Plus for less than $8 additional per month.  Trade ins are both 6.  No smoke and mirrors here, just no subsidizing and price gouging.

Im traveling with work colleagues in Canada for a couple weeks and ATT makes me pay 40 bucks just to text for free and then I still pay for calls per minute and get a limited amount of data for free then pay out the ###.

Tmobile on the other hand gives all that for free.

My monthly plan is about more than theirs (they all have couple plans with at least 2 phones bundled so it's hard to say exactly but mine is about 75 and theirs are around 120 for 2 phones).

WTF ATT.

Ouch.  I was pleasantly surprised when Verizon began offering their TravelPass service for Canada relatively recently.  You pay $2 per day that you use your phone, but just use your existing talk, text and data plan.  It has worked really well for my wife and daughter when we've been there.  Unfortunately, they don't let me use it with my unlimited data plan.

That's a least somewhat reasonable. I don't see how TMobile is making anything or how ATT can suck that bad something is really off there.

Definitely looking into switching off ATT now that everyone has their own versions of lease to own or trade ins.

Can't just go by the value they list on the site on your plan.  The $650 deal is a special offer they give you when you order the new iPhone.  My sister got $650 for an iPhone 6.
Yup.  There is some coupon code to use for AT&T.  FALL2016 or something like that on the trade in page.

Yeah I was in the process of "ordering" a new phone just to see what they would give me. That is what I got.

Looks like it's only for the 32gb...Anything above that you have to pay the difference.

Sitting with a 6 with 64gb storage. No problems, running fine. Got it a year or so ago.

For those that have them, would a jump up to a 7 with 128g be worth the $10/month more AT&T would charge me? ~$5 more to jump to 256.

How does this work for you guys - is that $10 x 24 months?

update:

iPhone 7+ in hand (flat black model, 128 GB), was supposed to ship October 4th but came early on September 23).

Caseology case for $13.99. Perfect fit.  Not sticky or tacky (by touch or appearance).  Doesn't cause a problem getting into and out of pockets.

The phone is exactly as advertised.  Its noticeably faster, takes great pictures, great feel in the hands, great display. The new iOS is really well thought out. Battery is really good (but they always seem to start out great, huh?), Sound is great.  The dual speaker thing probably isn't as robust as they made it sound as it was going to be but I am picking nits here.

Back in the day, I bought a blackjack II and, for the time, thought it was the best phone I ever had but this phone now tops the list. It is easily the best all around product I've owned.

Preordered a 128 GB 7 Plus from the local Verizon store today.  Locked in the $650 trade in deal for my 6 Plus by ordering it today.   Supposed to get it in November, hoping I'll get it sooner than that!

With taxes and everything what did that end up costing you to upgrade?

I paid $0 out of pocket today.  The phone will end up costing me $209 (in 24 installments).  Sure I'll have to pay taxes on the full $859 when it comes in plus an upgrade charge.  That will probably be about $80.

Airpods look pretty awesome.  My one and only complaint (having not tried them yet) is you apparently have to use Siri to change tracks or volume.  Dozens of times a day I reach instinctively to my apple headphones buttons for volume, next track, or prior track.  Now apparently I have to call up Siri and ask her to do it, which takes longer and causes me to have to stop the song.  That's really dumb.  They should just make the same tapping mechanism on the headphones let you do these things.

Anyway, who knows, maybe in practice it won't be a big deal.  Or maybe they'll just fix it in software.  POPCORN

Are they still having the issue with the iPhones locking up if they upgrade to 10 without using iTunes? I'm in the middle of a huge data recovery and I haven't been able to use iTunes for a bit; I'm waiting until the whole recovery is done.

Don't have the new one but siri sucks. I would tap the home button then use the swipe up "command center" thing over siri.

My contract is up with Verizon.  I am considering other carriers but don't want to weed through it all.  I guess I'll upgrade to the 7.  Can any of you point to a good, affordable plan with a competing carrier that I might want to consider?  I don't watch TV or movies or do any gaming.  Very basic usage.  The better camera is a big plus for me, however.

I'm paying approx $110 a month and I now realize I should be paying about half that for the limited amount of data and stuff I use.

Thanks.

Upgraded my 6 the other day over wifi without issue.  Looking forward to getting my 7+ in a few weeks.

My 6 just went t!ts up this morning.  Pretty much my only option at this point is to get on the payment plan, correct?  No trade in deals to be had that I'm missing.  I'm with At&t.

Also, if I get the phone fixed at a third party place, is there resale value?  I have a good guy, but I can't wait for him to fix this one and keep using it.  I have to have a phone.

This probably isn't the right place to ask this, but I'm out of bullets. I have an IPhone 6. Like an idiot, I finally ran the IOS10 upgrade. Now none of my charging cable work. I get a "this accessory may not be supported" message. I've googled for fixes, but nothing I've seen works. Help?

A couple of things I found, I have upgraded to 10 on my 6+ and use a variety of cables (Apple and 3rd party) without any problems

My wife got a new iphone 7(upgraded from an iphone 6), no change in carriers, no change in phone number

When I send her a picture message it shows up that it came from me and theres a random name and it says the message MAYBE went to this other person as well, WTF?

Start hiding everything.

I went to VW yesterday and even though I have an upgrade available and pay $300 a month (for 5 phones) i was told inhad to pay $450 out of pocket to upgrade to a 7 plus (i have a 6 plus).

im fairly upset about it and am looking to change.

Let me preface this by saying I'm an idiot.

Ok,l now that that's out of the way, none of the above fixes worked. I left it plugged in anyway after changing cords 12,000 times. What I found was that the phone WAS charging, but the battery icon doesn't turn green anymore. Well, it does when I first plug it in until I hit the "dismiss" button (the only option) on the message I posted above - then the icon goes back to white. Before I upgraded, it would stay green as long as it was plugged into a charger. Now, as I said, it's white even while the charging meter climbs.

This phone's had a ghost in it since I got it. For instance....

When it's "resting" (goes dark from non-use) and someone calls me, it doesn't ring. It's like it's powered off and goes straight to vm. I can not for the life of me find a setting that I may have changed (it didn't always do this). So I'm constantly having to light it up to see if I've gotten any calls. Thoughts?

Sometimes the volume buttons on the side of the phone don't work, but sometimes they do (I've always had this issue). When they don't, the buttons won't depress at all. When they do, sometimes it'll adjust to my selected volume then immediately go all the way down to zero sound.

I read that and it took me a couple seconds to get past the 'What does Volkswagen have to do with an iPhone 7.'

Man that's crazy, sorry GB I don't have really any suggestions short of doing a hard reset and manually reinstalling everything.

It's a work phone, so I'll probably get fed up with its quirks here shortly and order a new one. I think this was just a lemon.

Got my 7+ today.

Any FBGs in need of a 6+?  Full disclosure, there is a mild scratch on the glass (I thought the scratch was in the protective cover, but it turns out the protective cover cracked some time ago and I had taken it off since then... oops).  Happy to give it to a caring FBG at a discount before I go and test the market at eBay or something.

iOS 10 sucks butt on my iPhone 6. In particular, the music app is terrible. Setting up a playlist of what I feel like "right now" is impossible. You can pick a song and pick a next song. Originally on iOS 10, you could pick a "play later" song so you could string songs together. Now, with whatever update they did, the option to "play later" is gone so you can only pick one song otherwise whatever son you pick will have to be played next. Also, you can't see all songs by an artist when you pick their name. You have to go into the album the song is in AND then pick but since the previous option was taken away, you are still limited to two songs. There are other "upgrades" that suck but the music one is the one that bugs me the most cause I use it the most.

With Project Fi, 5 phones would cost you $75 a month plus cellular data.

Airpods are apparently being delayed. Apple now saying they're "not ready for customers" on the projected late October time frame. Bit of a bummer, been waiting on them. Looking forward to it.

The one thing I hope they change or fix is I hope I don't have to talk to Siri to do things like up or down volume, or next track. Will be really annoying/awkward on a packed subway car to have to talk to myself all the time.
