You have to make a new playlist then. So, you're going to have playlists after playlists when all I want is songs for "right now." It just doesn't work now like it did before and its not as simple as it was before.

But I mean as I currently use it, during my commute, especially on cold days, my phone is buried in my pocket, and I use that little dingle on the iPhone headphones cord to work the volume and skip tracks. From what I read, the wireless headphones you have to double tap the headphone to speak to Siri and ask her to do this crap. I wish they would just let me double and triple tap to change volume etc...

Agreed. I use use volume control and the answer call button on my Beats wireless headphones all the time. Not having that ability would make me think twice.

Oh got it, that will be a PITA. I'm not a fan of using Siri for anything really. Losing those earbud things is my biggest concern about them.

I don't own Bluetooth headphones. Can someone explain to me the benefit, specifically of the air pods? I get that not having a cord provides more freedom and can be more convenient. But it seems to me that that benefit would be dramatically outweighed by (1) having to worry about recharging the headphones, and (2) having to worry about losing them. On the battery life, air pods boast that they have an "industry-leading" five hour battery life. For many, that would mean daily recharging would be required. Otis would need to have a charger at work so that he'd have charged headphones for his evening commute. That seems like a big pain to me when compared to a good pair of wired earbuds that never need to be charged. On the second point, I tend to fall asleep with my earbuds in when I go to sleep at night. I'm sure I'd be searching the bed every morning to find the air pods between the sheets. I could also see misplacing then when I shove them in my pocket or my bag or something.
I generally am a first adopter, but I just never made the switch to Bluetooth earbuds. What am I missing?

Sounds to me like you've nailed it. Not having the cord means a cord not getting in the way. On occasion mine get caught on something and pull out. Annoying. Annoying when working out when them too.
On the issue of pulling them out of the charging case, that's no worse for me than the 45 seconds that it takes me to untangle the damn wires each time. Also for me, 5 hours is more than enough per day for me, would cover both morning and evening commute.
Having one more thing to plug it at home at night is somewhat of a nuisance. But I charge a million things now already, so probably not a big deal for me. Carrying the little charging case everywhere is annoying, but it looks like it's not much bigger than the bundle of wires and headphones I jam into my pocket each day. So again probably not a huge difference.
But it's not a no brainer. All close calls.

I usually give my Powerbeats wireless earbuds a charge when I get to the office in the morning while I'm getting coffee and being social. 20-30 minutes and they are usually fully charged since they get about 6 hours to a charge. I'll also throw the charger on if I have meetings where I know I won't be using them for while. I do keep an old pair of the cheap wired apple buds in my desk for the rare emergency when my Powerbeats die.
These are slight inconviences, but it's also really nice to have your phone docked and be able to walk around he office without picking up your phone. I tend to stand up and walk around when on conference calls and I love using my Powerbeats to walk and talk at the same time. And of course the cordless advantages when being active are obvious.
I'm an Apple guy but I won't be buying the wireless Pods until the audio quality drastically improves. Everything I've read suggests the audio quality is on par with the free wired earbuds you get with the phone. That's not acceptable, IMO.

I'm still on a 6+ but my problem with airpods is their likeliness of falling out while in use. I wear my LG Bluetooth wireless earphones in very active situations and it's great having them partially around your neck. Even these come out of my ear sometimes when on the tractor, using a chainsaw, changing the oil on cars and weedwhacking. The difference is the earbuds are still attached to the harness around your neck, so unless you tear it off and ruin it, you just put it back in.

I just got an I Phone 6s (I think - job supplies it). I can't get the bluetooth on it to find any of the bluetooth devices I have. I had the same problem with my IPad (& I didn't care enough with that device to pursue it), but not the I Phone I just replaced with this one. When it's looking for devices, the thinking circle just keeps spinning and it never lists any.
What could be wrong?

It should be as simply as flipping the Bluetooth toggle switch. If you have a bluetooth capable device in close proximity and it's turned on then it should be listed on the iphone. If you've done all the above and it's still not showing then it's time to visit the nearest Apple Store.

Yeah, toggle's on. As I said, the phone I just replaced with this one "saw" my Echo, an outdoor speaker, when I'm in my car it sees the BT adapter - this new phone can't find ####.

Check your device packaging for pairing. For a Bluetooth headset you can try holding down the On button (or various iterations) as you have Bluetooth open under General Settings.

By "on button", do you mean the on/off button or the home button? I see nothing in the lit I got about pairing

I mean the On button of the device you're pairing with the phone. Sometimes I'll have both on and the device isn't recognized. Forcing the pairing by pushing and holding a button (see specific BT device lit you are pairing) usually solves it.

I use it (her) when driving. My car has Apple CarPlay, so it works really well. I especially like it when my wife is sending me a hate text, and Siri starts cussing me out.

Think I am finally making the switch from Android (barring Sprint blowing me away with offers for the S7 Edge).
Probably going with the 7+ (battery life appears to be better than the regular 7). They are both just way cheaper than the edge on Sprint right now. Yes, sticking with Sprint...they are far and away cheaper and wife and I have had no problems with them where we use our phones. If the edge was cheaper...Id go with it as I like my Samsungs (but not tied that much to them) and I prefer it a little bit more over the iPhone. But I think the regular ip7 is something like 17/mo right now, the Edge is 33. No brainer to switch over for that difference.
32gb seems too small? And at just 100 to go to 128 seems the right move for me. I don't have that much music on there...but who knows over the next 2 years. My other gift this year for Christmas is going to be some BT headphones...so Im covering that issue there. Just need a few extra lightning cables (have some with my wife's phones and ipads...but I like having one in each car, one near my chair, and one by the bed.

Ok, finally did switch over to the iPhone 7 this week and my son will be inheriting my wife's old 5c (she got the SE as she likes the smaller phone for fit in her purse and all)

We have 2 iPads (one is my sons and one my wife and daughter use mostly) Wife has an iPhone, now I do too and my son does (or will...its activated because Sprint is offering the 3rd line free for a year so we activated it yesterday). I also use my wife's old iPhone 4 as an iPod when I run or work out.
We would ideally like to keep my wife's iPhone and iPad mini on one ID as far as apps and imessages and whatever, my phone and iPod, and then my son's phone and his iPad. Want to keep being able to share music across all of them (so I don't have to purchase the same thing and all...but apps and stuff I don't want to get their apps when they download, don't want to share pictures across all devices, and ideally keep them seperate in the cloud if possible on backups and such.
Is there a way to have one ID for iTunes (so we can share music), but be able to link just the 2 devices each for apps, pictures, backups and such?

Register as a "family". Everyone keeps their same ID, but everything can be shared (or not shared) in your family. Ex- Your son downloads an app for $0.99. You can go in on your phone, App Store, and view his purchases. If you want that app, you can download it to your phone for free. Family also allows you to keep a shared family photos album, but doesn't automatically put every photo into it, you choose what photos to put in, then everyone can see them.
i also love the fact that under a family plan, I can set up parental controls on app purchases. Everything lives under 1 credit card (mine), so if my son wants to purchase an app (even a free one) it sends a request to my phone asking if I approve it.

Ok, how on earth do I do this. This sounds like what we want. I know how to get into iTunes and make sure our apps don't automatically download and music and whatever. I am the one who sets up most of the stuff...but since I have not had an iPhone myself...I have not gotten into too much of the meat and potatoes of keeping things seperate.
Working now on transferring any music I purchased from Google Play to iTunes to make that easier...not the most fun switch, but liking the phone so far...and in the long run I think will be worth the switch.

Airpods finally came out, but sold out online already, 6 week backorder. Rumor sites saying retail stores will have them available tomorrow morning. Thinking about heading to the Apple Store before work and giving it a shot.
With these kinds of things, will other places that sell Apple stuff, like Best Buy, have them available on opening day? May be a whole lot easier to get them in a place like that.

Former Samsung guys needs some iPhone guidance as iPhone burns data way faster that galaxy did. Was out of town 4 days without wifi so added an extra GB and somehow iPhone burned through that in a day. Hit up wifi whenever I can and have turned data off for some apps but what a headache need some pointers. Still have 10 days left in bill cycle and never used this much data w galaxy in 4 years wtf.

Upgraded daughter1's line to iPhone 7 and added a new line for daughter2 with an i7. Was going to get two SE's but with AT&T Buy One Get One Free it was virtually the same price to get two 128gb 7's. They like the smaller form factor. I'm going to backup and restore their phones and have them all ready on Christmas morning.

Yeah, got mine yesterday.
They're good, although they look stupid. I love the functionality, fit, and feel. Just like the earpods without the wires, which is what I wanted as they kept getting snagged on things as I listen to audiobooks and podcasts and work around the house.
Syncing couldn't have been easier. Synced with phone, worked on laptop with same icloud account.
Very useful with an apple watch to control playback and volume. Without the apple watch I'd like them less.
One thing I find that I miss is any ability to tap them directly to pause. Also, while talking on a call and just using my watch to control volume and all, there's no easy way to mute myself which is disappointing.
All in all, I like them.

Since upgrading to iOS 10 my 6 plus battery is crap and it's very buggy/always freezing and I have to re-start it constantly. I've had it for 2 years, which is the typical shelf life for these things anyway.
Im due for an upgrade, so I'll be getting the 7 plus after the holidays.
For those that have AT&T, how much money do you think they'll give me towards store credit if I trade in my 6 plus? I can't get a straight answer when I call. I'm assuming $100 at least.
My brother thinks it's better to just keep my 6 plus and sell it myself, but in the past I've been unsuccessful trying to sell my old phones. With my 5S, I sold it to gamestop for about $125.
I also want wireless beats. Are those rechargeable or do u put in batteries?

They told me $150 for my wife's 6+ at AT&T if you're paid off or close to it (6 months early?).
I expressed that $150 was low and he agreed I could get more elsewhere. Wife doesn't need a phone yet so no reason to upgrade at such a loss. I'm hoping the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone next year brings new and wonderful things, like edge to edge screen and wireless charging.

Make sure your Wi-Fi assist is off.
Setting>Cellular>bottom of the page. If it's on, the phone will use data even when connected to wi-fi
