The Audible LIVE! - 11/1/2012 10PM ET (1 Viewer)

Hey Fellas!

Where are you with Titans passing game right now? Who is the #1 WR in your opinion? I know Britt is the talent and the biggest between him and Washington and Wright, but the targets say otherwise. I've got Washington and Wright in a couple of leagues and wonder if you can make rhyme or reason out of when to start whom? What do you think of the matchup with the Bears this week?

Specifically (PPR):

Nate Washington vs. Cecil Shorts

Kendall Wright vs. Kyle Rudolph

Thanks!

Hey guys,

10 team PPR redraft

17 roster spots

Starters 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB/WR/TE, PK, TD

QB - RG3, Vick

RB - Jamaal Charles, Jonathan Stewart, Mikel LeShoure, Stevan Ridley, DeMarco Murray, Joique Bell

WR - Percy Harvin, Brandon Marshall, Calvin Johnson, Josh Gordon

TE - Aaron Hernandez, Greg Olsen

PK - Matt Bryant

TD - Rent-A-Defense

Struggling whether to go with Vick or RG3 at QB this week. It looks like my matchup this week is a pick'em. Leaning towards me like gamble and rolling the dice with Vick. Thoughts? Also curious about your thoughts of Det's defense versus TB/Was/Cle (def score only affected by points allowed, sack, int, and tds). Given how close the match up is trying to eek out all the points I can.

Thanks in advance and keep up the great work.

Hey Guys,

Its the halfway point of the NFL season so its a good time to take a look back at the first round of the NFL draft and get your keen football insights, basically a thinking cap analysis of how the Football Guys would re-do the first round of the NFL draft at the halfway mark of the 2012 season knowing what you know now.

How would the football guys draft the 2012 NFL draft in a re-do?

To help out a bit. Here is how the first round was taken:

1. Indianapolis

Andrew Luck

QB, Stanford, 6-4, 235

This gives the Colts the most NFL-ready prospect since Peyton Manning. In Luck, they have the central piece to rebuild an organization around and recover from a dismal 2011.

2. Washington

Robert Griffin III

QB, Baylor, 6-2, 222

The Redskins have been no strangers to new starting QBs over the years, but Griffin III may be the one that has some staying power. The elusive, cannon-armed QB will immediately ignite the offense.

3. Cleveland

Trent Richardson

RB, Alabama, 5-9, 227

The Browns made a semi-pricey and curious move to nab their man with the No. 3 overall pick. In Richardson, they get a dynamic, stocky runner already drawing comparisons to Maurice Jones-Drew.

4. Minnesota

Matt Kalil

OT, USC, 6-6 , 305

It seems that both Minnesota and Cleveland got the player they were looking for, though it cost the Browns a bit more. In Kalil, the Vikings get some much needed protection for Christian Ponder.

5. Jacksonville

Justin Blackmon

WR, Oklahoma St., 6-1, 210

The Jaguars moved up to secure the most dynamic WR in the draft. Looking to add a new dimension to a one-sided offense, Jacksonville was yet another team willing to give a little extra to secure its pick.

6. Dallas

Morris Claiborne

CB, LSU, 5-11, 189

Desperately in need of secondary help, the Cowboys moved way up to get the best cornerback in the draft. With Claiborne, Dallas gets a future lock-down defender that can help with Rob Ryan’s schemes.

7. Tampa Bay

Mark Barron

S, Alabama, 6-1, 215

With his first selection, former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano eyed up the thumping safety from Alabama, who will bring some serious attitude to an aging Bucs defense and help speed up their secondary.

8. Miami

Ryan Tannehill

QB, Texas A&M, 6-4, 220

He walked out to the podium to chants of “overrated,” but Tannehill is a project QB who can pay dividends down the road. Miami has a good infrastructure for him to grow and even sit a season.

9. Carolina

Luke Kuechly

LB, Boston College, 6-3, 242

Kuechly was no doubt the best inside LB prospect in the draft. The leading tackler in ACC history, he’ll fit right into the middle of Carolina’s defense.

10. Buffalo

Stephon Gilmore

CB, South Carolina, 6-0, 190

The Bills have a very aggressive, big-play secondary and Stephon Gilmore fits right in. Quite possibly the most athletic CB prospect in the draft, Gilmore was a steal for Buffalo at No. 10.

11. Kansas City

Dontari Poe

DT, Memphis, 6-3 , 345

Losing Kelly Gregg in the middle of that defense means it’s time for the next best option at nose tackle. Poe stunned the NFL with his flashy numbers at the combine, but will have to prove himself on the field.

12. Philadelphia

Fletcher Cox

DT, Mississippi St., 6-4, 298

A great move by the Eagles here and one of the best steals of the draft. Cox had projected as a top 10 pick for some, but managed to slip all the way to 12. Philly helps solidify the middle of its defense.

13. Arizona

Michael Floyd

WR, Notre Dame, 6-3, 221

Considered by some to be a better prospect than Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon, the Cardinals get a dynamic WR to pair with Larry Fitzgerald.

14. St. Louis

Michael Brockers

DT, LSU, 6-5, 322

A stout presence in the trenches, Brockers will help give the Rams one of the most dominant fronts in the division along with former first-round pick DE Chris Long.

15. Seattle

Bruce Irvin

DE, West Virginia, 6-3, 245

In the first head-scratching moment of the draft, Seattle makes a reach for the all-Big East prospect. One of the fastest DEs on the board, look for him to fit in fine.

16. Jets

Quinton Coples

DE, North Carolina, 6-6, 283

Extremely gifted but enigmatic on film, Coples was the most athletic pass rusher on the board and can be an ideal fit into Rex Ryan’s defensive game plan.

17. Cincinnati

Dre Kirkpatrick

CB, Alabama, 6-1, 186

The third Crimson Tide player taken, Kirkpatrick is hard-hitting and physical. His strength lies in zone coverage; he was named a second-team All-America.

18. San Diego

Melvin Ingram

OLB/DE, South Carolina, 6-1, 265

Extremely versatile, Ingram played LB for a season before switching to DT his sophomore year. He then went to DE and even returned kicks. Projected as an OLB.

19. Chicago

Shea McClellin

DE/OLB, Boise St., 6-3, 259

Another tweener, McClellin can play inside and outside LB and line up at DE. The Bears will likely use him at DE. He had 9½ sacks in 2010 and seven in 2011.

20. Tennessee

Kendall Wright

WR, Baylor, 5-10, 198

The top target for Robert Griffin III, Wright set school records in career receptions (302), receiving yards (3,564) and touchdowns (30).

21. New England

Chandler Jones

DE, Syracuse, 6-5, 265

A load to deal with, Jones likely would’ve been a higher draft pick if he had not missed the first five games last season. He managed 4.5 sacks in seven games.

22. Cleveland

Brandon Weeden

QB, Oklahoma St., 6-3, 220

The oldest player ever taken in the first round, Weeden, 28, is a former Yankees’ prospect. He passed for 4,000-plus yards each of the last two seasons.

23. Detroit

Riley Reiff

OT, Iowa, 6-5, 313

A former TE and DT, Reiff stepped in at LT with ease the last two seasons. His long arms keep pass rushers at bay while his big frame provides push on the run.

24. Pittsburgh

David DeCastro

G/C, Stanford, 6-4, 315

Projected as a guard, DeCastro is the first offensive lineman outside of tackle taken. DeCastro possesses both strength and elite mobility for an interior lineman.

25. New England

Dont’a Hightower

LB, Alabama, 6-2, 265

A starter as soon as he arrived on campus, Hightower is a natural leader and a weight-room monster. On the field, he has great instincts.

26. Houston

Whitney Mercilus

DE/OLB, Illinois, 6-3, 262

As quick and explosive as they come on the edge, Mercilus ran 4.68 in the 40 and registered 14½ sacks last season. Will help the Texans replace Mario Williams.

27. Cincinnati

Kevin Zeitler

G, Wisconsin, 6-4, 316

A first-team All-American, he earned the nickname “The Terminator.” He is known for his weight room prowess and maxes out at 450 pounds on the bench press.

28. Green Bay

Nick Perry

DE, USC, 6-3, 270

The Packers need help on defense and they’ve found a pass-rusher opposite fellow Trojan Clay Matthews. Perry will likely make the switch to OLB.

29. Minnesota

Harrison Smith

FS, Notre Dame, 6-2, 213

A reliable starter for more than 40 games with the Fighting Irish, Smith brings a little bit of sanity to the Vikings secondary. A second solid pick in the first round.

30. San Francisco

A.J. Jenkins

WR, Illinois, 6-0, 188

There were a lot of higher rated receiving prospects on the board, but it looks the 49ers were sold on the speedy receiver out of Illinois.

31. Tampa Bay

Doug Martin

RB, Boise St., 5-9, 220

He’s the perfect rotation RB and has already drawn comparisons to Baltimore’s Ray Rice for his stocky build and powerful running style.

32. Giants

David Wilson

RB, Virginia Tech, 5-10, 205

He won’t exactly replace Brandon Jacobs, but Wilson was rated by some as the second-best running back prospect in the draft behind Trent Richardson.

stewart (bulk of carries, but d will not traded) or leshoure (missed practice for the birth of his child, great matchup)

eli manning (generally reliable) or josh freeman (hot streak)

no ppr, 4pt passing tds

Afternoon guys! got a couple thougts this week:

Streaming Defenses: Unless you have a elite D, the best way to go. This week, there seems to be a few WW darlings for defenses in:

[*]SD

[*]MIA

[*]DET

[*]and even BAL (dropped in a lot of leagues)

Obviously SD has the sweet KC matchup and that's tonight, so it'll prob be a little late to touch on them by the time the show airs, but the rest. who do you like for this week as well as their remaining Schedule?

RB roster depth: Since we're getting close to the end of bye weeks, time to load on up RB's. how do you like the following for the rest of the year:

Injured/ coming back

[*]Cedric Benson - back in time for playoffs?

[*]Beanie Wells - same as Benson... but is he even worth a spot?

back-up's / handcuffs:

[*]Vereen - what is "Beli-Trick" gonna do this week(s)?

[*]Turbin - good handcuff or is Lynch just looking that good?

[*]Hillman - showing glimpses of his talent, but similar to Turbin, is McGahee just looking that good as a #1?

[*]David Wilson - ever gonna get a shot this year?

[*]Joique Bell - LeShoure THE man or injury prone?

[*]Royster - Morris Injury away?

[*]Ingram - will NO ever run enough for him to be relevant?

[*]Reece/ Jones - worth a grab in case DMC goes down?

[*]Richardson - no SJax trade. worth the spot in deep leagues, but shallow?

[*]And on the RB depth note, what about HOU? Is Ben Tate even worth still holding onto as Foster's handcuff? Or would you be better suited to grab Forsett/ one of the above guys instead? Even when Tate's had the chance to get some garbage time (earlier in the year) he's basically done nothing with it?

And lastly I brought up Romo on the last week's Audible asking if he could ever seriously be considered a top 10 QB the rest of the year... and in true Romo fashion, he showed both sides vs. the Giants... throwing for 400+ yds, 1TD (& 1 Rush TD), and almost 1 more to Dez at the end.... but then has 4 picks!! I think I have a grabber every time I watch him play.

I think I may have put enough here for 1/2 the show, so I'll stop.

Love the show, site, podcast, etc... Keep up the great work!!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the great show as always.

Can you please talk about the dynasty futures of :

Chris Ivory

Daryl Richardson

Evan Royster

Do Ivory and Royster only have value if there is an injury with Morris, or one of the New Orleans rb's?

Is Richardson a starter next year?

Are they all worth rostering in dynasty leagues?

Thanks for everything you guys do - best show to listen to.

GrantSA4

How confident should I feel about Aaron Hernandez the rest of the season? I need a good push to make the playoffs and avoid relegation. With the trade deadline coming up for my league, I need to take a stand and go with it. What say you?

It's Thursday afternoon before waivers get locked at kickoff and my opponent still has not picked up a kicker to start this week. Is it time for me to pick up and drop every single kicker left on waivers? :)

Gentlemen:

Could you give a brief rundown of the top 5 QB's (and if you have time, the other skill positions too!) in the 2013 draft.

Thanks,

Hersh

Hey Fellas,

I have an owner in my keeper league that has decided that his team blows and is out of the running so he has said hes about to have a fire sale. He approched me with an offer of a 7th round pick for Hakeem Nicks. I don't feel like that is good value, but his point is hes not keeping Nicks so why not get what he can for him. Our league makeup is half of us work together and the other half is old friends. My problem is hes done this in the past and has upset other owners but its his team. My options as I see them are remove this owner, do away with draft pick trades , or some other rule ammendment like you give up one keeper spot for picks that are aquired. Would love your guys wisdom on this matter.

(Keeper criteria - 2 player drafted after the 5th round plus, 1 offensive & 1 defensive player in any round - 4 total keepers - 23 rounds)

Gettng to be that time of year - any Michael Turner-esque RB situations out there for next year? (ie. pending FA that can be a stud somewhere else). From the discussions this week, do you put DeAngelo Williams in that category? M

Have a trade question. In a 12 team, 3 keeper league and am weak at RB2 though I have JStew so he might solve that issue. I have Brown and Wilson (but not Bradshaw) and I really love the keeper potential of Wilson but was offered Dwyer and Mendy for the 2 gmen. Bit of a long shot to make the playoffs now but want to go down swinging if it's going to happen. Pull the trigger or sit tight?

Thanks guys and love the show.

Sit tight, my man. Wilson is a true talent.

Williams for sure. Ben Tate will be a player to watch. Steven Jackson won't be back in St. Louis next year - that's the guy to really watch.
