The cocktail thread (1 Viewer)

Pretty full bar. Most herbals, bitters, etc represented. Lemons, limes, oranges.
My man. I am drinking Black Manhattan tonight. Not sure it is too out of the box, but its something.

2 oz. rye whiskey
1 oz. Averna
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 dash Regans’ Orange Bitters No. 6
Tools: mixing glass, barspoon, strainer
Glass: coupe
Garnish: cherry

True story. I was making my black manhattan and my wife passed by and asked what I was up to. Far in the distance, my six year old son yells,

”paper plaaaaaaaaaaaane”

I may have a problem.

####### love paper planes

I could use something unique tonight after a tough week. Whiskey, gin, mezcal, tequila in play. Throw something at me.
Simple delicious cocktail called New Friend

Equal parts Rye, Aperol, Cocchi Americano (I prefer Tattersall Americano but it isn’t available everywhere)

Stir until chilled, serve over a large ice cube, Orange Twist garnish

Okay I’m in on this. Been trying to figure out the combo of luxardo and whiskey. Thx!

I have decided that this is the spring/summer where I start tying to do Tiki stuff.  Starting with truly annoying my wife by buying like 8 varieties of rum and a metric #### ton of fruit for juicing.

Have started simple with painkillers, planters punch, and mai tais.

That's the great thing about an equal parts cocktail.  It's so simple, my five year old can mix it for me.

Welcome back
If available, instead of Campari, we support our local Tattersall and use their Bitter Orange as the bitter ingredient because it’s so close to an amaro

1 oz Old Overholt Rye

1 oz Tattersall Bitter Orange

1 oz Punt e Mes

Stir all ingredients with ice until well chilled and garnish with an orange twist

Love using Punt e Mes!

Man, I've had so many mediocre Mai Tais that I had no idea how good they are when made right.  I basically just used Martin Cate's Smugglers Cove recipe and these are scary good (and scary easy to drink).

2 oz Plantation 5 year

1/2 oz Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao

1/2 Orgeat (I just used Fee Brothers)

1/4 oz Rich Demerarra Simple Syrup

3/4 oz lime juice

Shake with crushed ice and gated pour into the vessel of your choice (I'm just using a stemless wine glass).  Toss in the lime shell and garnish with mint if you have it.

Love Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao. Wonderful contribution to drinks in that classic bitter orange style

I make my Sidecars and The White Lady with it instead of Cointreau

Is this bitter forward?  I typically find curaçao “rindy,” which i do enjoy.

Decided to get closer to the Trader Vic ideal so I swapped the Plantation for 1 oz of Appleton Estate Reserve Blend and 1 oz of Clement Rhum Agricole.  Oh my God.  Just an amazing drink.  It's amazing that lime is the only fruit juice in it.  I could swear I taste banana.

Naked and Famous, courtesy of Death and Co.  I used silver tequila in place of the mezcal

¾ oz. mezcal
¾ oz. yellow Chartreuse
¾ oz. Aperol
¾ oz. fresh lime juice

I would miss the earthiness and smoke from the Mezcal but if you enjoyed it, have at it!
