If you happen to have Asbach Brandy try an Asbach AlexanderHappy Brandy Alexander season, ladies and gentlemen.
That’s awesome but does that get messy? (The tree, not you after the drink)have a pretty bad ### blood orange tree in our yard, so blood orange moscow mules have been a hit lately
Yeah, it's not a clean tree. Blossoms, leaves and the oranges drop off of it. Luckily I can just tell my kid to take the leaf blower out and clean up. We save the dropped oranges for the cows across the street, they love themThat’s awesome but does that get messy? (The tree, not you after the drink)

Blood orange marg tonightBlood orange juice is also delicious (and of course, appropriate) in a Blood and Sand.
Closing Argument is a Last Word made with Mezcal, and if you sub Irish Whiskey, its called a Dublin Minstrel
The wonderful Champs-Elysee (if you have Cognac in house) is Cognac, Green Chartreuse, fresh Lemon Juice, housemade Simple Syrup, aromatic bitters
Yup. It's probably supplanted the Manhattan as my favorite cocktail. Don't have much of either anymore with me trying to get my health straightened out, and the Manhattan is a "safer" indulgence because it doesn't have any added sugar. But you just can't beat a well-made Mai Tai. It's a perfect drink. Thank God for the classic cocktail revival, though. When I was in college in the early 90's any Mai Tai you got was a "hotel Mai Tai" with all kinds of weird fruit juices and stuff. Just terrible, 70s style sugar bombs. I thought it was pretty much the worst (and trashiest) drink around.I think scooby is a big Mai Tai fan and I am too - great drink if done right.
Made some Painkillers over the weekend with Pusser's rum (the traditional rum for the cocktail). Delicious.Had some folks over for cocktails this weekend - Finally made some homemade orgeat for the first time and I thought it turned out well. We also made lime super juice - not totally sure it’s worth it. If you have a decent juicer and don’t mind the extra cost I still prefer fresh juice. But it was ok.
Made Mai Tai’s and Painkillers so kind of turned in to a Tiki night. I think scooby is a big Mai Tai fan and I am too - great drink if done right.

I'd say if I was to choose just one, on a one-off, I'd probably take a Painkiller, but I make far more Mai Tais at home. I don't always have orange juice on-hand, and sometimes don't want to crack a can of Coco Lopez. For straight up deliciousness the Painkiller is up there. Loaded with juice so you have to have a sweet tooth but dang do they go down easy. I think the Mai Tai is the far better drink - much more complexity and balance but if you have any pain you want to kill it does the job.
Just had a Pisco Sour at a Peruvian restaurant, made me think of @AAABatteries and his upcoming World Cup cocktails.
Other great rye cocktails are the Remember the Maine
Been awhile since any posts in this thread…. Bought some green chartreuse and maraschino liqueur. Haven’t experienced one at home before now, but enjoying The Last Word right now. (Probably better as a post-dinner cleanser, but I’ll drink it now anyway.)
It's that time again. The World Cup starts on Sunday, and I've built a 2022 Drinking Guide for your drinking/viewing pleasure.
Some notes about this year:
I'd love feedback on the guide as well as input on drinks. Criticism is welcome.
- I think this will be the most complete version I've done. Of the 96 drinks I have a drink for 92 of them
- The four "missing" are Saudi Arabia liquor (not allowed), Qatar liquor and cocktail (somewhat not allowed but just couldn't find anything) and Senegal liquor (unable to find anything).
- I spent more time on the layout and formatting of the drinks this year. The guide is mostly the same because I'm not super creative. I wanted to do a mobile app because I think there's potential for a money maker there, but I didn't have the time to figure it out
- I removed wine from the guide this year. I know nothing about wine, and it ended up being a waste of time for me. If somebody is a big wine nerd and would like to contribute shoot me a PM.
I'll have a ton of other posts in here as I make some of the cocktails. There's definitely a handful that are new and ones I'm not familiar with. Enjoy.

That is a go to for my wife. Basically a margarita with mezcal and a jalapeño syrup. Tajin rim. It’s quite good.Been on a mezcal kick lately. Especially if it's a spicy cocktail
