The countup to 3000 hits (2 Viewers)

I didn't realize that there are no other Yankees with 3000 hits. That's pretty shocking. Guess that's just the typical media overrating old Yankee players. :stirspot:

That was pretty awesome. I would have definitely given the ball back for nothing and would have had probably turned down the suite. I wouldn't want to go to the stadium every night
no way would i have given the ball back for free.Look, I love Jeter, but the dude lives a charmed life. He doesn't need the ball. If he made me a good offer, I'd prefer to sell it to him, but considering what it could probably fetch at auction, I'd have to take the cash. That cash could change my life. That ball will go up on Jeter's trophy case and collect dust like all his other awards.

Hard to believe no Yankees on the list.
Hits as a Yankee:1st - Derek Jeter - 2,9982nd - Lou Gehrig - 2,7213rd - Babe Ruth - 2,5184th - Mickey Mantle - 2,4155th - Bernie Williams - 2,3366th - Joe DiMaggio - 2,2147th - Don Mattingly - 2,1538th - Yogi Berra - 2,148You would think with all the Yankee greats someone would have gotten there.
Mattingly had constant injury issues late in his career. The rest of them won rings every year and retired early out of sheer boredom.
And Jeter could very well be the only one to get all 3000 as a Yankee, seeing as all current and future Yankees are overpriced mercenaries who will only be Yankees for the second half of their career.

Gehrig would have done it had he not been stricken with ALS. Mattingly could have done it. Cano (overpaid mercenary from the farm system) has an outside chance at it.

How many of the 3000 hit club got all 3000 hits with one team?

Cano down?

Tied Mays last night for 10th all time with hit #3,283
Pete Rose 4256 Ty Cobb 4189Hank Aaron 3771 Stan Musial 3630 Tris Speaker 3514 Honus Wagner 3420Carl Yastrzemsk 3419Paul Molitor 3319Eddie Collins 3315Derek Jeter 3283Willie Mays 3283With just 232 more hits, Jeter is going to be in some awfully elect company - not that he isn't already, but to be in the top 5 on the all-time hits list with Rose, Cobb, Aaron and Musial? Pretty amazing.

And all of those guys played at least 22 years, with Rose and Cobb playing 24 seasons. Jeter is finishing year 18. I predict he finishes third all time in hits, just passing Aaron and coming up short on 4000.
