I remember this Derek Jeter. Looks like you guys just need to give him more attention if you want him to hit.

For his 3,000th hit.

it was his 2nd hit of the game

in his 2nd AB of the game

only the 2nd person to have his 3,000 hit be a HR

Collected hit 3,000 at 2:00 EST.

Congrats to Derek Jeter, sweet day for him.Picked this up off of twitter, pretty cool if true, the kid could've gotten paid$....

@Bluesniper10 Kid that caught the ball agreed to give it to Jeter for nothing. Hal Steinbrenner gave him 4 tickets to a suite 4rest of yearweb • 7/9/11 3:20 PM

I would have wanted lifetime season tix, which the Yanks should have happily forked over.

That was pretty awesome.

I would have definitely given the ball back for nothing and would have had probably turned down the suite. I wouldn't want to go to the stadium every night

Like with Biggio a few years back, I glad to see that this did not occur in a 1-5 game with some little off the fist thing the th bottom of the 8th. Congrats and now I don't have to hear/see the countdown (up) any more. :D
