For some reason Bankerguy's post reminded me of the 2 guys sitting behind me at the second Redskin-Giants game last season. In the 3rd and 4th quarters when the Redskins were taking over the game, some Giant players started waving their arms in exasperation at referees as though they wanted calls made or reversed. The 2 fans kept yelling "We're Washington DC! We're the hub of the universe! Nothing happens without our permission!" Much better stuff than "You suck!"

FYI - my criteria for "good" FA signings is the amount of the playing time that they got. I'm not a Walt Harris fan, nor do I think Prioleau was a stud by any means. However, each of those guys was a significant contributor - especially Harris - and certainly filled the role they were acquired for.

This is flawed logic, in my humble opinion. By this same logic, Quincy Carter, who was the starting QB for the entirety of a season and then some, was a "good" draft selection, which he most assuredly was not.

Edit to add: I believe there will be more NFCE talk than any other division on this board this year.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that you have four of the top 5 markets represented. I would think the four teams in the NFC East have more fans than any other division and it might be by a wide margin. Only the AFC East would be close and they have Buffalo dragging them down. Not really a surprise that it's the most talked about division.

You're equating a 2nd round QB who was drafted and touted as the franchise QB with the signing of Pierson Prioleau to be a backup safety and special teamer? That makes zero sense. You take each player in context. Prioleau filled his role well. So did Phillip Daniels, Marcus Washington, Salave'a, etc. Must each of them reach the Pro Bowl in order for us to consider the signing a good move?

Yes, it was , and it was done to prove a point. The next time a Cowboy fan points out the dumb FA acquisitions that the Redskins have made in the past, make sure to remind them that the Redskins, like the Cowboys, have shown in more recent years that they are capable of changing things that they did poorly in the past.

The difference was that the Cowboys were beating the Redskins asses throughout that stretch. During that time period, Redskins fans knew not to even open their mouths about it because their team was spending globs of money and coming up empty for over a decade.I see one succesful season makes you guys forget. I like you Redman and Fatness, even if you some dirty Marlboro smoking, full body camo suit wearing, Pick-up driving, Bud drinking, hillbilly Redskin fans, and I can't wait to watch your team get put back in their place.

They don't deserve a free pass when they play bad, when they're coached badly, when their personnel moves are bad. It's nice to see that they've finally got a sane system in place for both deciding what players they want, and for managing their money and cap. Quite a relief for long-suffering Redskin fans. 2 seasons ago they lost a lot of close games, and hung together. Last year they won some of those close games, and finally started winning division games again. Quite an improvement, and they do look improved again this offseason, at least so far.

I should have myself a bit more clear. You stated that "my criteria for "good" FA signings is the amount of the playing time that they got," and it was that sibular point upon which I was commenting. My point was that Quincy Carter received a fair amount of playing time as well, but he was by no means a positive addition to the club. A player can receive playing time simply because there is no better option at the position. As such, amount of playing time received is a poor indicator of the effectiveness of a player acquisition.

FYI, the Cowboys let a computer make their choices during the Landry years. I would be interested in seeing the code for that program. They were successful.

I think this is a myth. The Cowboys were the first NFL franchise to use computer programs to analyse and assess college players, but when it came down to making the selections on draft day Tex Schramm picked 'em.

We've already seen the ones predicting a 6-10 record, T.O. causing the team to implode by week 5, etc. Glad to know the fans of our divisional opponents are squirming in March. This has the makings of a really good year for Dallas fans.

Completely disagree. I used to work in that stadium. The Cowboys- Skins game was a fan fight fest every year. I would've thought the Philly game would have the most brawls, given the fanbases reputation, but the Dallas game easily trumped them all.

What can I say? That's the complete opposite of my experience. I've never seen a fight at a Skins-Boys game. I've seen a fight at every Skins-Eagles game I've been to.

I would agree with this assesment as well. I have seen probably 10 Redskin/Cowboys games in person and nary a fight. Of course, most of the Redskin fans were gone by the middle of the 3rd quarter. You know "beating the traffic".
