The Curse of Oak Island (1 Viewer)

Rick doesn't have any money--he's a former letter carrier.  Marty is the money man although you wouldn't know it by the way that Rick spends Marty's money.
It looks like Marty pulled in an associate (guy who's 16yo son passed last year).  Plus the TV money, this thing can never end...

One thing that has bugged me this season, they never explain "the geo-tech grid method".   Every episode the mention at least 10 times that they drilled 44 holes using it, but never explained what it was.  Wasn't until they brought the guy in to drop the little metal detector down the holes and they mentioned it has a 4' diameter range or whatever that the grid spacing made sense.

I assume this will all end with them pulling up some actual treasure (sir francis drakes skull, shakespeare manuscript, holy grail....) with several large holes drilled through it.

Does Marty own the winery he wears shirts and hats for in every episode, or is he now just a walking billboard for extra money?

I still think this is an OK watch, but parts of last night just annoyed the heck out of me.  They are really reaching for some of these theories.  The entire Begley theory segment(s) when they found that rectangle on Ball's lot was ridiculous.  The dude made up some elaborate story seemingly to convince the others to dig there.  Just not needed.  Like OK, we get it, there could be something down there.  Even the experts were saying it looked man made, shouldn't need more than that to dig, get your permit and dig.  Show more about the boreholes and the bones, etc...not Begley's fairy tale hour.  lolol

The part I found stupid was his chiming in everytime someone mentioned the depression was rectangular "like a treasure chest!!!"   No, you stupid ####.  The "treasure chest" you saw at that guys house was maybe 24"x18", this depression was like 8'x10', that was not made from a treasure chest, unless we have yet to hear the theory about giants roaming the island and burying things.

Spoiler tags, please.

I haven't watched the new episode yet but I'm just going to take a stab at it here:

"A piece of cloth?? At 180 feet?? Carbon dated at a time period before any documented explorations??? Could they have found the piece of evidence they needed????" /endepisode

Going to be so awesome in the last episode when they find that vault and out walks Elvis, Jimma Hoffa, and the old knight from Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.

that is why it is a screaming profit center for us we sold you the whole seat but you only use the edge advantage us scarfhan take that to the bank

So many questions... how is a 500 year cross only about 10” deep?  How are Rick’s eyebrows 10” long?  How did I get sucked back into this show?

Good episode. Getting interesting. Preview for next week looks good, as they break through the hard, flat surface and "into some sort of void"

Another disappointing episode tonight.  They will be digging another hole.

I never thought I'd think there's a better chance that Hitler escaped his bunker than there is of finding treasure on Oak Island.

Why did they decide not to explore the 10' void they were in?  I thought they claimed during the episode the void was the chapel vault.

I feel sorry for the brothers. Gotta sell a metric #### ton of knick knacks from their Oak Islands Visitor Center gift shop to ever hope to recoup. Spent millions on some broken pottery, old wood, old nails, buttons, a few coins and bone fragments.

but, but... tv magic = millions!

the 2 things that keep me interested in the story, knowing that they haven't and likely won't find anything in the near future (or else we'd have already heard about it in the news):

1) they are finding things (or traces of things) that have no logical explanation of how they got there other than if this legend were true

2) nobody has come forward claiming to have already found the treasure (or that an older relative claimed to have found it etc)

of course, it's not a sure thing by any means, but there's enough trace evidence for it to be plausible and, therefore, interesting :tinfoilhat:

So I have this season’s episodes recorded and I was meaning to binge watch, is it safe to just delete them since it appears this has been a big waste as usual

I'd never seen an episode of Ancient Aliens until one day I left the TV turned on, then walked back into the room and it was on. And that's when I saw that Ancient Aliens is made by the same company as Curse of Oak Island, has the same narrator, and same "style" of teasing and never getting to the point of anything.
Ancient Aliens has the redeeming quality of being a drinking game:

Narrator: "Ancient astronaut theorists believe that...
"Drink!"

Narrator: "In 10 years, ancient astronaut theorists from DeVry University will have achieved..."
"Drink twice!"

there is probably about 10 minutes of actual interesting stuff per week.. just fast forward the rest
