The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (1 Viewer)

Noah has been funny when he has been on. I have no idea if he can carry the show. As a daily DVRer of The Daily Show, I'll give him a chance although I'm less than enthused.

Interesting that Jason Jones announced he is leaving the show last week. Perhaps he wanted to be the host and wasn't hired?

This guy is taking a lot of heat right now for his Twitter history.
yeah, that's looking like a real problem. i'm wondering how much input Stewart actually has in terms of the selection process.
Crazy that he's being vetted after the fact like he's a Presidential candidate. The only way they would find someone who hasn't written things that could be found to be offensive is if they weren't high profile enough at the time to know to bite their tongues. And only those kinds of people are interested in an everyday gig like this.

The internet has created this new paradigm where everyday whiners and malcontents are given more voice than they ever should get.

I'm not sure who's being more absurd here- the ridiculous people whining about a handful of meh tweets from years ago that the guy probably didn't think twice about, or the comedians acting like they are noble artists who bravely hold a mirror to our society and who must be free to speak without consequence lest we be deprived in any way of the incredible gift they bestow. It's really quite a #####-fest.

Meh. The heat is pretty ridiculous. The real problem is the stuff wasn't very funny. I saw a couple of his appearances on TDS prior to the announcement and I remember not being impressed. His stage presence and his interaction with the camera was uncomfortable. I'm willing to chalk it up to inexperience and hope he grows into the role.

No disagreement here. But that's exactly what it's always been. Propaganda.
:lmao:
Dude's a couple hams short of a Stuckeys.
I guess I shouldn't expect seven, on-camera appearances and secret discussions with a sitting president to mean anything to you guys. Propaganda is doubly effective on those who want to believe it.

Believe what? His jokes? :lmao:

Wyatt Cenac had a legitimate gripe about Stewart's impersonations of black people. But as Stewart's employee, Cenac should have let it go instead of continuing to challenge his boss.

Looks like ignorance is also doubly effective on the True BelieversTM.

i haven't paid much attention to this. i know he often does broad characterizations of public figures but whatever. he has received criticism in the past about other issues - Jezebel hyped the paucity of women writers on the show a few years back - but has done a very good job of thoughtfully responding.

Newsflash - he's not an actual journalist, he's a comedian. But let's face it he plays both sides of the fence, he uses his wit and insight to act as pundit and "reporter" but call him to account for his lack of ethics and he says he's just a jester. - And the Amos'n'Andy routine as his single black shtick is really pathetic, he was right to be called out for it by a writer he was very happy speak for the show at the Emmys. - Overall I enjoy the guy like I enjoy Leary & Miller but I think most of his fans can't keep straight what is biased humor and what is fact.

The more I think about it though the government coordinating messages with supposedly independent speakers whether humorous or news or other is really appalling, no one should applaud his visits to the WH. He should have disclosed. It is propagandistic on that level.

What lack of ethics? This Cynac thing or are you referring to other stuff?

what coordinating of messages? he's been a outspoken critic of Obama in his time. What kind of conversation do you think took place?

WH - Jon, the POTUS needs your help with ACA (or whatever). What could you do?

JS - I'm just a comedian with a fake news show.

WH - We know that but it's really popular. You're very influential among key demographics that the POTUS wants to reach. What can you do to help the President here?

JS - I can't be any less critical on the POTUS but I can be less funny.

WH - Perfect and thanks. The Secret Service will show you out.

Tonight he's talking about the Huckabee comments about the American foreign policy marching the Israeli's to "the oven door."

I'm sure some of you brainless far-righties can get on board with Huckabee. He reallllllllllly makes some sense doesn't he?
