The fall of Disney. Self destruction of a sterling brand. (1 Viewer)

I can't take how one side takes one extreme and the other side takes the other extreme while there is usually an acceptable middle ground. Not just in this issue but in so many issues. The extreme loudest voices continue to divide us.

I'm saying the left is trying to tear down our white supremacist system, which includes the the education system.....I mean that's how you effect change, right?  Get the kids programmed.  Try to keep up man.
That’s how we were done.  I don’t recall reading too much about the Trail of Tears or what slavery actually entailed in terms of rape, torture, and murder.  We just sang Jimmy Crack Corn in music and did a week on Harriet Tubman and called it good.

My kids just came through public schools and teachers pretty much threaded the needle on politics.  I don’t really have any complaints.  Obviously it’s just my experience living in 65% red Upper Michigan.

I think if we had an honest press that reported both sides, most suburban moms would be appalled about the details of the Littlejohn lawsuit.
Been reading as much as i can on the case that started this whole fiasco. Curious what you feel the appalling part is.

For me, its what events started the whole thing compared to what it was turned into by politics.

At what age do you feel children should be taught about rape, torture and murder?

I would need to know your sources before commenting because my assumption is we’ll just disagree on the facts.

Mostly court transcript (not all the way through it) and the lawsuit filed

Though i have no idea what my sources matter in my question to you

Right.....the autracities of civilizations have been going on since the beginning of time.  We are now a melting pot of multiple cultures.  We have come A LONG way.  But the left wants to keep the embers hot.....get the young SJW's fired up......gotta hand it to em, it's a good strategy though.

I don't understand why Disney would take any political position.  They should be in the business of making money, not cow-towing to extreme political activists.  But since they've taken a position don't go against that position in another country because you're making money.  Remove your brand from those countries, if you really feel strongly about your position and aren't just virtue signaling.
Kinda like the NBA and China?

Too bad they didn't have this policy already in place for their new Buzz Lightyear movie and their Star Wars TV shows.
Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi are really good.

You would think they would want to encourage birth of more kids. More kids, more business.

At most I see the clip as spreading the message that transgender people exist.  That doesn’t seem like a bad message at all.

ETA: With that said, it doesn’t seem very likely that a trans guy in the supermarket is going to announce to a crowd what his preference in menstrual products is.

Agree 100%. I also don't have a problem with the NYT promoting every hoax they sniff if it promotes a Democrat agenda - it sells paper. In both cases it's just a shame imo that they're dismantling established brands that have been carefully crafted over decades.

As you can probably tell by my Avatar, I am a Disney fan.  My understanding is that this series is supposed to be about a robot that focuses on healthcare.  Apparently this particular episode the robot is trying to help a girl that is going through menstruation.

Seems like an odd topic for a cartoon but Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street took on some difficult topics too.

As far as the 2-second clip where someone that looks like a man says they usually buy a certain brand seems pretty harmless and is unlikely to poison the minds of our children.

That said I wouldn't have even green-lighted the show at all because you're bound to get into controversy over these kinds of things.

Some things are just best handled by parents.

A company marketed towards future generations being progressive.. how backwards....
Orrrr.... They are being pressured from within for non business related reasons and will have to slowly purge these goofy activists in order to recapture profit they have lost.

I got some bad news for you then: today's progressives are the furthest thing from progressive.

In fact, much of their wokeness has derived from Marxism and communism. About as backwards as you can get.

I have seen a lot of companies release similar policies today

HR departments were doing work since the leaked memo.
My company just did this. Stealthed it though. Updated medical travel benefits to add treatment of rare cancers, mental health, reproductive and fertility, and generic issues.

List of 4 adds and it's the 3rd. Definitely adding it without trying to make it about Roe being overturned. But that's definitely why they have these additions.

In the idea of inclusiveness, cast members will now refer to every guest as "Friend"

The neutral “friend” moniker allows Cast Members to address individuals without assuming their gender identity. Similar changes have been made around the resort, such as the switch from “ladies and gentlemen” to “dreamers of all ages.” Similarly, they have stopped calling children "Prince" or "Princess.
Now, I dont have an issue with inclusion. What I do have a problem with is blanket changes like this. IMO "Friend" sounds condescending and fake given the situation. You are not my friend, you are the person pushing the button to make the ride move, or the person handling my resort reservation issue.

I get that some prefer to be gender fluid. But my gender, as well as every member of my family is exceptionally clear. While some choose to be called "gender neutral" terms in addressing them, I do not. I prefer Sir, it is an acknowledgment of respect that the company you work for appreciates my business.

When dealing with CM's I am always respectful and kind, I was a CM myself at one time. However I go out for dinner and drinks with my friends, no one that I have 15 second interaction with at a theme park is "A friend."

I've never worn group shirts at WDW, but more and more I'm thinking our next park-day wardrobe shirts would say "I'm a BOY & it's OK to call me that." or "I'm a GIRL & it's OK to call me that."

I'm tired of having to defend the fact that I am a biological male and expect to be addressed as one in what seems like every interaction these days.

I don't remember anyone calling me "sir" without continuing to say "you're causing a scene" or something.  I really don't care at all if someone says happy holidays or merry Christmas. I saw a gender neutral, single toilet bathroom at a business i went to recently and i lifted the seat, peed, and put the seat back down.  Thankfully I survived but I don't think everyone should be expected to carry my burden.

I get that it's very difficult to live in a world where people don't call you sir and I don't blame you for being inconsolably upset and bumping this thread months later.  The mark of a real man is how you deal with this minor inconvenience and you have shown us who you are.  Tell us more about how difficult it is to be a man and not have people call you sir.  Get it off your chest.  This is a safe place.

I agree.  Stuff like this is over the top. If the people who we're trying not to exclude can't be bothered to kindly correct staff or just ignore it, then #### em. It's just as much on them to be understanding of the rest of us.

your right, thankfully your virtue is just oozing out of my computer and you know what....i'm going to shed all of my male identifying traits. Who needs a name anyway...from now on I'll be happy to refer to myself as "It"

And that pesky wife I have...um I mean "life partner" how dare she continue to act and dress feminine...wouldnt want to risk making anyone have to make a life or death decision on how to interact with that collection of cells and organs. Besides, she...um I mean "that" really could use some time breaking those oppressive chains of gender specific work like high rise construction or Alaskan crab fishing.

What is it like being the most persecuted people in America history and not a total crybaby at all
