The Flash - new show on CW (1 Viewer)

I thought after the SuperGirl crossover they said there would be another episode of the Flash next week.  That was to be the one to explain how Flash got to her universe.  Guess not.  The only explanation we had was the Speed Force formula, but nothing about the doo-hickey he wore on SG or what he was trying to accomplish.  I was hoping for at least one more to help tie this together.

Is there a site dedicated to letting us fans know when a new episode is coming?  Something akin to islostarepeat.com?

I kind of dig all that about the show.  The Flash in incredibly powerful and just in the infancy of learning to fully use his speed.  So many different combinations are possible with this show.
This is really important. It's what makes me not roll my eyes when he does stupid stuff or makes everything harder on himself, but every once in a while the stupid stuff is just too stupid. Going on a date with Iris in Earth 2, every time he battled with a dude with just a cold gun, and this last episode. Such a bad idea. And then he knows he can't #### with the timeline and so he fights himself? He couldn't of waited a minute for other Flash to win that fight first? Then he tells Ramone about Ronny? That one was more frustrating to watch then fun.

it's a good show but with time traveling and alternate earths, it's hard to take anything as true.  Someone dies who they want to bring back?  Just have Barry go back and stop the death.  Want to bring a character back even if only for a show?  Time traveling Barry makes it happen!  Plus there are too many speedsters (maybe one less, but still at least 4 of them).   The character we know turns out to be a bad guy?  Just go to alternate earth and have that one come to our earth and be the person we want him to be.
You know the show is based on comic books, right?  And that these are the kinds of things that happen all the time in comic books?  Few stay dead for long and even fewer forever.  And there are 12 versions of everyone.

That SuperGirl show is pretty terrible if the Flash crossover is any indication
I love that show.  Sure, the effects sometimes aren't that great, but the characters and the actors are pretty good.  Melissa Benoist does a great job as Kara/Supergirl.

True, although I don't remember it being this over the top in the 1990-91 show.  (This is probably well known but I just noticed that the previous Barry Allen is this show's Henry Allen)

The actress who played Barry's scientist friend in that show has also been in this show as a character with the same name - Amanda Pays playing Dr. Tina McGee.  And Mark Hamill played the Trickster in both series as well.

As for why you probably never saw them doing these things in that first Flash show was because it was only on for the one season. And the did have an episode with a Flash clone, IIRC.

What a terrible episode. OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE ZOOM USED MY SPEED FOR EVIL! WTF did you think would happen, Barry, et al? So stupid. So many speeches about not giving in to Zoom and how they will find a way to stop him. Then Barry finally gets faster and gives it up with zero fight. I don't even want to watch next week. Completely ridiculous.

Yeah, this pissed me off.  I was hoping it was all a ploy.  Not sure what to think now.

Well rats.  I have not watched to newest episode and was so excited to have it back.  Shame to hear it sucks.

I think it is a ploy.  Wells had to calibrate something in the vile before getting the stuff.  Pretty sure that something is there to make Zoom feel like he has all the speed and then will react negatively with him later.

I thought Barry Allen was supposed to be smart.
Harrison, Cisco, Barry and Caitlin are all certified geniuses.  Yet so far it looks like they just said "go ahead and take the only way we have to stop you, we trust you"

that can't be what really happened.

Man, this show got real dumb real fast. That ridiculous speech by Barry reached Bond villain levels of stupidity.
This was honestly the first bad episode i can remember. I can let it slide. I'm sure that wells jimmied up the vial zoom took from Barry. At least i hope that's what happened. Also, i get a feeling that wally will be getting his speed because of this soon too.

It's a comic book.  It's super corny and cheesy and fun.  It's part of the appeal.

i liked the episide until he made that deal.  We'll have to see how it plays out...

Once I knew that this week's episode was going to be one of those tired "de-powered superhero" ones, I just deleted it right off the DVR. Did I miss anything?

This show is so up and down, love the casting, love Zoom, but damn Barry, you just hand over your speed like that?  And you freaking monologue to Zoom instead of knocking him the #### out and throwing him in the fance jail?  Jeez.

And Wally West's constantly buthurt personality makes me want to rain punches on him.

Last week was just dumb. So dumb I haven't even bothered watching this week. I really like this show; I'll probably come back around. But damn, just terrible.

Just powerwatched season 1 and I'll return here when I've caught up on 2 but I just gotta say right now....

It seemed at the end of S1 they were just kind of casually shrugging off the fact they had a FREAKING MACHINE THAT TELLS THEM THE FUTURE in the basement

My new Iron Mask theory: it's Earth 1 Ronnie.

Caitlyn is ablut to break. She may even break. She is over due for some happiness. Maybe she even ends up with some powers.

One of you should go back and watch the scene with the 2 Caitlyns and decode the mask's knocking. Because I'm lazy.

It was "JAY"

It's Jay Garrick from Earth-2, IMO. Hunter Zolomon, Earth-2, is Zoom, this is his brother.

I think it's going to be Barry's dad's doppleganger since he mentioned his mothers maiden name was Garrick.

I thought he knocked "Jay" for Barry earlier to try and reveal who Zoom was. If he's still knocking "Jay" then I think you are right on.

Pretty good stuff, looks like a good finale coming up.

Where did Cisco get the doppelganger costumes?

So much for Barry's dad having a connection to the man in the mask...or maybe not? Would've thought Zoom would've recognized him...

Calling my shot now:

Zoom will probably get beaten in the Flash finale, but not vanquished. Zoom is going to be around in the beginning of Season 3.

Come fall, we already know there are going to be CW DC property crossovers aplenty. DC's Legends of Tomorrow had their finale last night and they have set up their Season 2 to bring in some heavy artillery that can effectively counter Zoom:

At the end of the DC's Legends of Tomorrow  finale ... the guy from the other timeship introduced himself as a member of the Justice Society of America. That brings Earth 2 directly into play for the Legends team (it was already part of the extended "Arrowverse" but not directly broached in Legends). As mentioned above, there have already been advertised crossovers between all four of the CW's DC properties (they'll have Supergirl in the fall).

Well, we saw on the last Flash how Zoom escaped at the last second. Should Zoom survive the Flash S2 finale, they may be setting up for a whole mess of heroes from different shows to converge on Zoom & his crew on Earth 2. Mention of the Justice Society is especially interesting, because they have a guy -- Hourman -- whose powers are direct counter to Zoom's.

They could have really interesting storylines on the CW DC shows with Hourman, because he's both been a Justice Society member and an ex-member. Hourman could be a morally ambiguous character, as he can effectively counter both Zoom's and Flash's powers.

Really hoping, too, that they do something to rehabilitate Jay Garrick's character. Tied in with the spoiler I posted above:

Golden Age Flash -- Jay Garrick -- was also an integral member of the Justice Society of America. So, if the JSA is now part of the Arrowverse via the Legends of Tomorrow, something's gotta give. Man in the Iron Mask in Zoom's prison = the real Jay Garrick?

So Barry went back and saved his mother. Guess they're going to do a Flashpoint thing next season. Maybe that's how they'll bring Supergirl to Earth-1.

They should have given Zoom an out so that he could be brought back in future episodes.

Well, Black Flash will probably pop up at some point.
He does have an out. Barry just ####ed the entire timeline up. Everything is available now. Reverse Flash, Eddie, etc...

Why did Barry do that?  His mom told him in the speedforce that she was good.  I love the show but Barry makes the dumbest decisions.  Why didn't he just plow Iris to get rid of his "emptiness."  #######.

Yeah, he really is making the worst decisions. If he just didn't stand around again chatting with Zoom he could have just flashed and knocked his father out of the way. Then he decides to change the whole world potentially after admitting he finally has let it go and that his own Mom told him to let it go, and when Iris finally wants to hook up...

No one he talked to in the SpeedForce was the person, they were avatars of the SpeedForce itself.

He did it because he had just come to terms with her death and then had to watch his father be murdered in front of him, too. And once again he couldn't stop it. He snapped.

From a comics perspective, it is the same thing that set off the Flashpoint storyline, only in the comics he didn't realize he'd done it, he  just wakes up to an alternate reality with no idea how it came to be. This could be how they bring Supergirl into the same world as Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see if this has an effect on all the other shows.

I thought he said something like Mom is that you?  And she nodded, indicating that she wasn't like the other versions of the speedforce Barry had been talking to, but the Mom.  That was why Barry was able to find peace for the 30 minutes or so before Zoom ripped his father's heart out.

Here's the episode on CWTV.com.

At about the 26:30 mark is where the scene with his mother starts.  He says "Mom?" She smiles and says "Hi Barry." He says "You're not my mother.  Why are you doing this to me?"

I thought it was pretty solid.

Sure, Barry made some dumb decisions, but he was 'broken' by Zoom. And, anyways, they needed a way to bring Super Girl into the folder and now they have one.

My thoughts exactly. I possibly stayed a little longer than I normally would have because of her but the show is on CW, the network who once targeted 18yo females, and it seems like that's who would most like this show.

True.  Supergirl didn't really fit into the CBS style of shows.  CW is a better fit.

But again, another season finale and another reset button clicked by Barry.  I didn't see a ripple effect in the season finale of Arrow, but maybe this happened after that show aired?

They aren't good with syncing those timelines. Barry was in the middle of his two speedless episodes when he showed up on Arrow with his speed.

He also showed up on SG with the Tachyometer thing 2 weeks before it was built on the Flash.  But hey!  He's a speedster who can defy time!  Who needs to explain anything, right?
