What's the deal with the NO kicker situation?

I'm holding out for either B. Johnson (who?) or W. Lutz. Not sure if Lutz is ready to go.

Huge underdog this week. If I'm getting blown out by Monday night I'll just drop either one. Seems like a decent spot too. NO favored, could get some turnovers and decent field position, Winston not exactly the model of efficiency.

:blackdot:   --  played McManus last night --and most points from PK so far this year is 7 😟

I picked up Folk this week for Carlson. Mainly because I wanted to get ahead of Carlson's bye week next week and his 2 week struggle before last week, but is there any reason for concern for Folks questionable tag?

I said it above. I don’t think so. I’ve owned him all year and he gets the questionable tag every single week. I could be wrong as there’s usually no update like Faust posted above on what it actually is… but figured it would be helpful for those who haven’t owned him to let you know this has been par for the course all season.

“Nick Folk says he feels good despite appearing on the injury report the last few weeks”

ROS best kickers according to FBG's

1) Tucker

2) Bass

3) Succop

4) Gay

5) Zuerlein

I'm thinking of picking up Bass free on the FA wire because I have an extra bench spot this week by trading Connor for Hunt straight up and placing Hunt on IR. My current K is Prater for this week. I see Bass as a slight upgrade. Yes or no? I already snagged BUF D and my QB is J Allen. I don't see a whole lot of downside playing Allen, Bass, BUF D and perhaps a E Sanders play now and then on a bye week or match up upside / injury.

Interested in thoughts on both Z. Gonzales and G. Gano.

Both facing each other in the meadowlands. Weather looks low 60s no wind. Both offenses are clunky as hell and dealing with injuries. This has all the feel of a 19-16 game.

CAR is favored by 3 on the road. This plus all rankings have Gonzalez slightly ahead of Gano in my mind.

Gano was money last year and also has more of a leg. Was 5-6 over 50+ last season while Gonzalez rarely kicks over 50.

Anyone know what the deal is with W. Lutz?

Wouldn't mind grabbing him for the Monday night game. If I don't need him, can dump him and look ahead and stash players who are currently on bye.

Saints K Wil Lutz (groin) said he had a setback in his rehab and will miss the rest of the 2021 season.

Lutz made the announcement Tuesday morning on Twitter. The veteran was designated to return from a groin injury that had kept him sidelined for the season's first six weeks, but wasn't able to suit up Monday night against the Seahawks. Brian Johnson -- who is, for now, the Saints' kicker -- made both of his field goal tries and an extra point in New Orleans' win over Seattle. The Saints have the fewest field goal attempts of any team (6) through Week 7. A top fantasy option for much of the Drew Brees era in New Orleans, Lutz won't kick again until 2022.

Chargers signed K Dustin Hopkins.

The Chargers’ kicking woes this season have been evident, most notably when they forwent a potential game-winning field goal attempt against the Chiefs to go for it on 4th-and-8. Hopkins looks to solve that problem. The veteran kicker converted 12-of-14 field goals and 10-of-12 extra points across six games for Washington this season. Los Angeles waived K Tristan Vizcaino in a corresponding move.

Chargers waived K Tristan Vizcaino.

The Chargers never seemed to fully trust Vizcaino, and he didn’t give them much reason to, as he only converted 10-of-15 extra point tries across six games. Los Angeles brought in former Washington kicker Dustin Hopkins to replace Vizcaino.

For some reason I’m concerned with him against the Chargers. I can’t put my finger on it.  But I’m also in must win mode, so over analyzing a lot.  But may pivot to Joseph in what feels like a plus matchup.

Steelers signed K Josh Lambo, formerly of the Jaguars.

Unceremoniously dispatched by Jacksonville last month, Lambo joins Pittsburgh after Chris Boswell -- who took a cheap shot from a Cleveland defender Sunday -- entered the NFL's concussion protocol and will likely miss a game or two. Lambo had missed three field goals and two extra points in three games with the Jags this season before his October release. Once an elite NFL kicker, Lambo should have some waiver wire appeal with the Steelers, who have attempted 15 field goals this season (14th most).

I'm wondering how many of you guys that own butker is considering dropping him for a streamer option?  I know its a little nitpicky but seeing the Chiefs struggling to move the ball (again) just does not give me very many warm fuzzy feelings about him and the Chiefs offense in general... I'm about ready to cut bait and move on as silly as it all sounds

Dropped him like 3 weeks ago.

49ers activated K Robbie Gould (groin) off injured reserve.

Gould hasn't played since Week 3. He didn't carry an injury designation headed into Week 4 but suffered a groin injury in pregame warmups and was unable to play. Joey Slye has filled in for San Francisco in the meantime, but he was released on Wednesday in anticipation of Gould's activation.

Washington signed K Joey Slye.

Slye's 2021 world tour will continue in Washington. Waived by Carolina in August, Slye caught on with he Texans in September and played for the 49ers in October, filling in for injured starters at both stops. The Football Team released Chris Blewitt and will roll with Slye -- for now. Slye, who's hit seven of eight field goal attempts and two of four extra points, won't have much fantasy value on a bad Football Team.

Washington released K Chris Blewitt.

Washington head coach Ron Rivera said before the team's Week 9 bye that Blewitt would remain the starter in the season's second half. His resolve apparently faded. The Football Team signed Joey Slye and parted ways with the unfortunately named Blewitt, whose surname produced good Twitter content, if nothing else.

Cowboys placed K Greg Zuerlein on the reserve/COVID list.

Dallas will hold tryouts on Wednesday and eventually sign whomever will replace Zuerlein in Week 10. Zuerlein has successfully made 14-of-18 field goal tries this season, as well as 21-of-23 extra points.

I have Bass in two leagues and been riding Folk (bye week 14) in another league for the last few weeks. I see Succup (bye week 9) on the FA wire and I see FBG's have Succup rated about 10 points higher for R O S. Folk currently at 89 fan points and Succup only at 55 fan points. Hey, just looking for any upgrade angle for more points from here on out. Will Tampa Bay stall a tad more without Gronk?

Who would you rather have moving forward, Folk or Succup?

I like Succup more because of his schedule. Folk is facing a lot tougher defenses ROS. However, I dont think you could wrong with either, I think both will have their good and bad days. Folk missed a 50+ yarder on Sunday, otherwise he would have had another double digit day.

Folk for more FG opportunities, Succop more XPs and better weather games. The week 15 bye for Folk Is a good weather game for Bass, BUF at TB. I'd go with Folk and the FGs.

There you have it. One vote 4 Folk, one 4 Succup. Both are good options.
Nice when both options are favorable. I just dropped Folk and picked up Succup. I'm betting that Succop outscores Folk from here on out, and Folk does have a bye week, which also came into play in my decision. I don't like trying to keep a kicker, it would probably mean dropping Folk in week 14. I also like a piece of Tampa Bay while already rostering Damien Harris and current pick up Brandon Bolden, and to keep an eye on Rhamondre Stevenson. So, mix it up a lil bit.

Thanks for weighing in.

I am going to use a combination of Yahoo's fantasy points against kickers, as well as teamrankings.com to determine matchups

Folk
10 - home vs CLE - very tough matchup, only GB has allowed less FG attempts per game, 5.5 PPG
12 - home vs TEN - mediocre matchup, middle of the pack in FG attempts per game, 7.4 PPG
13 - road vs BUF - very tough matchup, top 10 fewest FG attempts, 5.9 PPG
17 - home vs JAC - good matchup, top 10 most FG attempts, 8.9 PPG

Succop
10 - road vs WAS - very good matchup, middle of the pack in FG attempts, lots of EP's, 9.3 PPG
11 - home vs NYG - good matchup, middle of the pack in FG attempts, 8.3 PPG
15 - home vs NO - tough matchup, give up FG's more than EP's, 6.9 PPG
16 - road vs CAR - mediocre/tough matchup, middle of the road on both, 7.0 PPG
17 - road vs NYJ - very good matchup, they can't stop anything, 11.7 PPG

Folk has a bye still, so I will remove his week 14.  Both teams play ATL and IND on the road, so we can call those even and remove them too.  They also both play at home vs a tough BUF D, so I am removing those games.  As you can see above, Succop has a much better remaining schedule, and I tend to go with the kicker on the better offense.

Long time holder of Succop, mainly due to the supposed advantage of the high scoring TB offense.  I finally cut bait earlier this year when that theory never panned out. The Bucs offense is too good in the red zone.

Consider:

  • PPG rank

Folk:         4th (behind the leader by only 0.49ppg)
  • Succop: 25th

[*]FG made/attempts

  • Folk:    21/23
  • Succop: 8/11

[*]XP made/attempts"

  • Folk:       19/22
  • Succop: 32/34

On more than twice the attempts Folk has missed less FG tries than Succop.

I know history doesn't determine the future for fantasy player scoring, but using schedule as a predictor for kickers seems waaaay shakier, especially when you're talking about two guys who are on polar opposite ends of the performance spectrum this year.

I don't see this as a 50/50 call at all, Succop is an actively bad choice imo.

Colts coach Frank Reich said Colts K Rodrigo Blankenship (hip) will not be activated from injured reserve for Week 11 against the Bills.

Reich noted that Blankenship is healthy enough to kick but Michael Badgley has earned the starting gig. Blankenship will build strength in his hip while he remains on injured reserve. Badgley has been perfect on seven field goals and 19 extra points since joining the team in Week 6. He’s an every-week starter in the archaic fantasy leagues that still utilize the kicker position.

I just keep sticking with Joseph for MN and it keeps working well.  Good enough offense but still sputter enough to get FGs.

This week is a bit worrisome as GB has not allowed much to kickers (some of that may stem from earlier in the year when they just kept allowing redzone TDs rather than forcing FGs.  And then shutting out Seattle.

But don't want to keep 2 kickers and don't want to risk losing what has been a solid K option.

Was already iffy on my Zeurlein thinking both KC and DAL will be TD or bust attitude knowing FGs will not win the game and now it looks like there will be 16mph winds.

Picked up Koo from ATL to cover Zuerlein going on the COVID list.  I missed that he got activated yesterday, so I got a fat NEGATIVE 1 from Koo last night.

AND I had to drop someone else to activate Zuerlein today, because our league rules won't let you submit a lineup if you have someone on IR that isn't on NFL IR (or COVID).

At least I don't have @kyoun1e's dilemma about using Legatron this week

Saints signed K Brett Maher.

Brian Johnson, who missed two extra points last week in a game the Saints lost by two, was waived in a corresponding move. Maher spent time with the Saints in training camp this year, but he was cut with an injury settlement in August. A revolving door of kickers have traveled through New Orleans this season, and none of them have been exciting fantasy options. That is unlikely to change with Maher.

Washington signed K Brian Johnson.

Former starting kicker Joey Slye was sent to injured reserve because of a hamstring injury he suffered Monday night against the Seahawks. Johnson had a less than stellar four-game run with the Saints earlier this year, connecting on all eight of his field goals but missing three extra points including two in a game the Saints lost by two points. Those misses ultimately spelled his demise. He will hope for a better run with The Football Team.

Just looked up the weather in Buffalo for MNF. The steady wind has gotten my attention. Rain and snow in the morning and windy all afternoon and into the evening in the high teens. Gusts would be higher. Thinking of dropping Bass for either Succup or Butker.

Succup hasn't hit a 50+ yarder, and Butker has hit 4 over 50. Bonus points.

Succup consistent under 50 and ranked higher with FBG going forward > Butker.

Bass ranked #1, Succup #2, and Butker #13. Now, anything can happen ROS. I just don't like windy nights involving kickers.

Edit: Add Matt Gay to the list.

So, as of now in three leagues - Gay, Butker, and Succup. Switched my thinking about set em and forget it by dropping the Bass Master in two of them. Things change. I see Rank did the same for this week. NE D and colder weather in the 20's with heavy sustained winds 15-20.

Every time I think I’ve got a plug n play K for ROS they give me a 1 pointer (or even -1)

Bullock, Elliott, Joseph

I am starting the Bengals K this week so you probably want to cut him

I have Evan McPherson in a few leagues but in my main league I'm debating Michael Badgley v Greg Joseph.

Badgley hasn't missed a FGA all year (he missed a PA his first game after Blakenship went on IR.) He hasn't hit - or attempted - a 50 yarder all year, and he's only 3/9 in his career from long range. Matchup is middling. Steady production - between 7 and 11 points in his 7-week season.

Joseph is 6/7 on over 50 FGA. Maddeningly, has missed 3 PATs, and missed 4 in his other full season (with Cleveland 2019.). Had 17 FF points in his last G v Detroit - the Lions have given up the most FF points to K in the league. But he's also had two 1 point games, including last week. 21/25 on FGA for the year.

Leaning toward the South African, but it's tempting to go with the guy who hasn't had an off week this season. FWIW, I'm a 60% probability to win (have 8 players left, opp has 9.)

any word on folk from the homers?  Im worried they re-added a kicker to the practice squad saturday that they cut earlier in the week.....  also given they have a bye week 14 I could see them sitting him this week and getting him completely healthy for week 15

Butker, KC looks like he is trending back up again. Considering adding.

Crosby, GB looks like a good matchup, but I am passing.

Bass, BUF looks like a good play after the wind bowl.

Gay, LAR looks like a decent play. Can they keep up with ARI and TD's.

Prater, ARI looks like a solid play.

McManus and Hopkins above Crosby for me

Of course McPherson & Bagdley bombed. Wish I was playing Razz bc I’m killing the 6 points or less game.

PSA

This week I’m rolling with:

  • Joseph of Minnesota (PIT)
  • Dear Evan McPherson (CIN)
  • Mile High McManus (Detroit is giving up the most FF Pats to K)
  • Mason Crosby (CHI)
I have been the ultimate kicker cooler this year.

You've been warned.

Prater and Crosby have been missing way too many kicks lately for my taste. I think they are coasting on their names at this point
