This week, I'd probably rank them Gano-->Cat-->The Bos-->Barth-->Prater. Give me a kicker on a team with a consistently reliable offense, more than anything else, since that generally gives a kicker a pretty reasonable floor.

I'm a Boswell holder myself, and would likely start him over any of the others since you gotta dance with the one that brought you, but I think you're in a "set it and forget it" situation with any of those top three on my ranking. It's not worth agonizing over.

Lets face it, he has been brutal some weeks, more notably early in the season.

I originally had Santos in place, but its not only going to now all of a sudden be cold in Baltimore, but my choice of Prater is going to be in a dome, AND is against the Saints who have been giving up a heap of points.

The Lions have looked like they may have entered "mail it in mode", but that may well help Prater too.

Not really confident rolling out Prater, but there are some positives working in his favor.

(I'm facing Hightower and Megatron that night in the same league, so it does give me a tiny bit of points to root for as well)

Added bonus- Prater is @ home vs. SF in week 16.

That isn't a bad match up either, if any of us do get to week 16.

But I get your point, its not overly cold all things considered.

There is a potential shootout matchup with the Lions and the Saints though, thats my general thinking.

Santos is a decent play, but I think that could well be a 17-7 game.

Its certainly not like the Chiefs and Ravens are putting points up by the boatload.

Oddly enough, my first choice was the PITT kicker also.

But as a fluke I am starting DeAngelo Williams and Martavis Bryant BOTH in that same league.

I don't personally like starting 3 players from the same team if I can help it. A slow game from that NFL would sink that (or any) team in those scenarios.

(just so happens all the playoff teams in my league have the top kickers, which is why Boswell is still out there)

I'm considering rolling with Randy Bullock tonight. Dallas is giving up the 2nd most points to kickers. Bullock has had 12, 11, and 9 points the past three weeks, and the game is in a dome. The Jets have the best red zone defense in the league and the o/u is at 41.5.......field goal game?

I considered Santos, but he's had some really down weeks of late. I could also use Prater, but I think that game could easily get away from Detroit or end up being TD after TD...

I do think his current rate is unsustainable, and I don't believe in such a thing as a "high floor" for a kicker, but after what he's done this season he seems like a no-brainer starter to me.

Yeah, I can see that too -- When Raven's were not totally decimated, they were in games, bending but not breaking and giving up FG's -- over the last month though, they haven't given up much, but that appears to be either because the teams were offensively challenged (Ram, Dolphins) or got ran over ---Seattle --Perhaps KC moves the ball well, but not as well as Seattle

You need to clarify which teams kicker benefits from passing yards allowed?

C.D. Carter did not spell it out but looking at the comments to that tweet the team allowing the high passing yards gives up more kicker production and intuitively that makes sense because the team facing the porous pass defense would be moving the ball more.

C.D Carter its not the best correlation and that also makes sense because bad passing teams and/or bad kickers will inevitably face teams who give up the highest passing yards.

True. And Barth underperformed in a juicy matchup last week, but this week he killed it in a juicy matchup. Playing the move that will most likely be best based on statistical analysis does not guarantee the right outcome. There are no slam dunk guarantees. But picking the better matchup gives you a greater chance of success.

That said, prater does not have a ton of attempts on the year. I would look at total attempts, attempts from 50+ and then matchup in making decisions.

That is why I ended up going with McManus over prater and Walsh.

Only 5/8 on the year. Big time reliability/accuracy issues. And the saints tend to score TDs when they get close. I would pass.

Went with Bullock and the Jets pass up a field inside the 10 and get stopped so 0 pts instead of 3 or 1

Then the Jets score a TD and miss the xtra point -1

Of possible 4 pts Bullock has net -1

I have Hauschka going in 2 semis. Thinking of flipping him for Prater in one.

Would like to see the full data for FGA.
